I made a reservation for Mother's Day well in advance of the date. I called the restaurant to make sure they could seat our party of 6 at a quiet table as it included two elderly people and was assured that it would be no problem. The table we were seated at was very loud - even when I asked to have the music turned down. On Mother's Day morning I called to increase our number to 8. With much ado they said they could accommodate us. I don't know what all the fuss was about - the restaurant was mostly empty the whole time we were there! At no point did anyone mention (on the phone or their website) that the meal was going to be a BUFFET, which was difficult to manage with elderly parents (one on a walker!). The food was AWFUL...& it was COLD!!! No one came to tell us that they were clearing the food off the buffet so when we went back for seconds - it was GONE! They made an attempt to bring back some measly desserts, but they were awful too! For $25/head - it was way too expensive for what we got. I've never ever had such a bad meal at a restaurant! DON"T GO!!!

What a disappointment. Beautiful venue that just doesn’t live up to its reputation. Service was poor. The waitress had obviously never been trained. She didn’t know how to properly open a wine bottle. Didn’t check back on us after we got our entrees (which she didn’t take our orders for but was going to bring out as soon as they were up). The salads and meals were bland and tasteless. The meatloaf was tough and over salted. The scallops were good but the risotto was terrible and there was far too much of it. Won’t go back.

Had dinner Saturday night on the deck. Our dinners, salmon and seafood casserole were very good. The service was a bit slow, it appeared they were understaffed; could not order two glasses of merlot as they only serve merlot by the bottle, never heard that before. Waitress said “so, would you like a bottle?” Well, no. Anyway the meal was delicious and we’ll go back again.

Our waiter Chaz was super, positive and friendly and made the dining experience fun and happy. We sat on the outdoor deck. The view was lovely. My daughter had the scallops and I had broiled scrod. Our meals were delicious. It was a wonderful dinner. One of the top experiences we’ve had with Fairview.

Wonderful service from Michelle; lobster bisque was tasty but not exceptional, lobster roll better than average. The server for the adjacent table, who spoke rather loudly, was "Dude" this, "Hey, Man" that, generously sprinkled with "COOL" and/or "AWESOME" which was entertaining for a bit but wore thin pretty quickly. It felt as if we had accidentally wandered into Game Stop..... it certainly wouldn't stop us from going there again, but I don't think we'd feel the same way if he had been our server.

The hostess and our waiter Charlie were very attentive. It was nice to arrive to know that our table was ready and waiting for us. Charlie was high energy and quick on his feet. I appreciated the linens on the tables. There were a couple of larger parties in the dining room sitting near the windows. It was a free-for-all. There were screaming kids running around, parents chasing them down, all very loud. The staff should have asked them to contain their children or leave. The Fairview used to be a fairly nice restaurant, and I expected more of an upscale setting than a Pizza Hut atmosphere. We ordered off the cocktail menu. My companions complimented their drinks; I ordered the Why Tai (the Fairview's take on a Mai Tai). It was pure alcohol. WAY too strong. If I had been interested in getting hammered, this would have been the drink for me. The food was the real disappointment here. We ordered a few dishes. The lobster bisque was fine, but it was nothing to write home about. The baked cod was a major disappointment. It was cooked until it was as dry as toast. I had to use knife to saw it into pieces. (Who would do that to a poor little piece of codfish!) The mashed potatoes were cold and had turned into wallpaper paste. The vegetables were some random mostly raw-ish slices of zucchini, summer squash, and carrot. The steak-frites was cooked into shoe leather. At best, we felt like I were getting poor quality wedding food. The Fairview could and should be fantastic. It's in a great location; the dining room is pretty and looks out over the water. There are tables outside. There's no excuse for not serving the best and freshest, especially the best and freshest seafood since The Fairview is steps from the water and some great fish markets. I'd never go back. Well, unless I wanted to get hammered on Why Tais.

Our waitress (do not recall name) was positively horrible. I had a question concerning my meal, and because she hadn't written it done, didn't know it so therefore proceeded to tell me the answer to another dish. Sure glad I had a question, otherwise the wrong meal would have come! My son, however DID receive the wrong meal. Had it not been for him being a gentleman, he accepted the dinner without incident . Then came the deserts. All we wanted was two slices of cheesecake. It took her over 20 minutes to bring them! Mind you, there were only for other tables occupied in the dining room and there was only 3 of us. Guess she was too busy helping the "outside" guests where the tips were going to be much bigger. I am totally disgusted, and will have to think twice about coming there again!!!!!

The Fairview Restaurant once again treated us well. This time our family of 6 (4 kids teens and tweens) sat on the patio offering a spectacular ocean view (across the parking lot). The waiter, Stu, could not have been more friendly and attentive. Although the menu was not extensive, we all found something we were excited to order and we were all happy with our meals. This place is a bit of an undiscovered gem. The indoor ambiance is quite nice with beautiful wood and a stone fireplace so whether you sit outside or in, it doesn't disappoint.

Went to the Fairview with my son and daughter for a belated Easter get together. The restaurant was not at all busy, too bad. The setting is amazing, directly across from the ocean and in the summer they have umbrella tables and chairs on the deck. Tim, our server, was wonderfully refreshing. Very personable and helpful in making suggestions. My son had the rib eye and my daughter had the pork loin, both served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Both raved and cleaned their plates. I had the fried clams and hand cut fries, delicious! We split 3 desserts, the Strawberry Layer Cake, on Tim's suggestion, and the New York Cheesecake. Both were delicious, but the Strawberry Cake was the winner, tasted like fresh strawberries! Had a great time, we'll be back!

Been coming to this restaurant for 30 years. New management. It’s a warm and inviting space with ocean views. I want to love it. The food was good; however, the menu is very limited. I did not see any pasta dishes and perhaps one chicken option on the menu. I think the new owners are on the right track. We went there last summer. They had been open for about a month. There were only a few entree options. Five of us in our group and all were disappointed. Thought we’d give it another try. Might try it for lunch, but until they work on more variety for the dinner menu, I’ll opt out. Service was great. Manager stopped by to check on us which was appreciated.

Horrific experience. We frequented the “old Fairview” for years with good experiences and were excited to try the “new Fairview”. When we arrived the hostess told us that it would be a 45 minute wait for our table although we were on time for our reservation. I asked why given there were not that many guests. She became agitated and said it was because the kitchen was understaffed. Clearly this was going to be a fail. We left and won’t return.

I am sorry to leave such a terrible review- but our experience was nothing short of an epic fail- the place was freezing, our one appetizer took over an hour and was cold and burnt- our dinner took one hour and a half from time of order- and it was so bad! None of us ate one fourth our meal. The waitress did her best- but never did the hostess/ manager ever note that our meal took over an hour and a half to be delivered- I should never have paid for the meal- but didn’t want to make our guests feel uncomfortable- total waste of $250.00. We literally left and went to another restaurant to eat!

Since I have eaten there before and had a much better experience when it comes to service, I am for now operating on the assumption that the (very poor) service was due to Valentines Day, although it did not appear to be overly busy. The food, ambiance and music could not be faulted, but it took over an hour for our entrees to appear. We'll try it again another time and if warranted I will amend the review.

Food was awesome but the best part of our evening to get all of us smiling and enjoying everything around us was our waiter Charlie, we all agreed never ever met a waiter so energetic, friendly, smiley and happy. He was dancing to the music back and forth while serving and alway with a big smile, he's a keeper and we are for sure coming back when we in Marshfield again.

My wife and I both ordered the tuna steak entree for New Year's Eve. We get tuna frequently, so we had certain expectations. On the plus side, we both wanted it rare, and it was cooked just as we like. But that was the extent of the positive. The menu indicated it was served over jasmine rice with broth and daikon radish. Tuna steak is frequently served with Asian flavoring, and the broth & daikon indicated on the menu led me to believe that's what we would receive this time. What we received was rare tuna, swimming in rice, broth, beets, and whole shoshito peppers (and nary a daikon to be found). The effect of the very rare tuna plus the heavy amount of beet juice was..... unsettling. More importantly, the flavor profile of the tuna, beets and peppers made no sense. It was like they ran out of ingredients and started tossing in whatever was closest at hand (didn't match the menu, after all). Points for cooking a nice piece of tuna rare as requested, but definitely points off for plating that just didn't gel.

We were looking forward to our New Years Eve dinner at the Fairview. But we were very disappointed in the dinner. Prime rib was all grizzle and fat. Waitress seemed aware of this but chose to ignore our complaints and the obvious plates filled with the inedible food. Unbelievable that the kitchen was allowed to serve five plates of food that could not be eaten. We will not be returning and will share our experience with our friends and family as a warning to avoid the Fairview.

This was our second visit to the Fairview after the opening. We were thrilled with the level of sophistication in the menu. The charcuterie board was one of the best we have had! Excellent. Squash bisque was outstanding. The chef came and introduced himself and sent out clams to the table.... buttery and lemony. Both wine and craft beer selection were above average. It was a wonderful night. Looking forward to our next meal!
