The Factory Kitchen - Los Angeles
Helmed by Restaurateur Matteo Ferdinandi, his wife Beverage Director Francine Diamond-Ferdinandi and their longtime friend and Partner Executive Chef Angelo Auriana, the Factory Kitchen re-defined the approach and the experience to casual dining in the city by combining elements of culinary arts, service, and design.
A traditional Italian Restaurant & Bar in the heart of the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, the Factory Kitchen culinary concept focuses on local recipes from the Northern Italian Regions; but emphasizes on some Ligurian traditional dishes like Mandilli di Seta al Pesto alla Genovese and the Focaccina Calda al Formaggio di Recco.

What Insiders Are Saying
Factory Kitchen tends to gets overshadowed by its famous Arts District neighbors, but it's one of the best Italian spots in Los Angeles.
Great food but noisy and a not a great service. One of the hostesses was a bit rude, although the other was sitting us she kept arguing with me that we had to wait beyond reservation time I had to show her the table being set for us to convince her
Good food, but over priced for what you get. Hyped up trendy spot. Wouldn't reccomend or return.
Good food, good service, wine prices too inflated, very loud noise
Food is pretty good but noise level is really high too.
Not for kids. Great rustic adult environment for personal dates and work dinner
Made a day-of reservation on Mother's Day and was pleasantly surprised. As a mom, I rarely go out to eat anymore, so when I find a gem of a place such as The Factory Kitchen, I am sure to return. Our reservation was for 7pm, and although the streets outside were quiet, once we opened the door to the restaurant, it was lively. Patrons of all ages dined here - the table next to us had two young kids with them. However, I was happy to *not* be dining with my kid. Our server was good, and the staff was attentive in filling our glasses and clearing the table. I liked what we ordered: mozzarella salad, beet casserole, veal (main course), and gnocchi (main course). Everything is nicely plated and the serving sizes were just right.
Only complaint is that it is too loud; otherwise the dood is exquisite
Ate here at prime time on a Saturday night-and it was packed. We did have to wait 15 min after our reservation time to be seated, but other than that-it was a fabulous experience. Service was excellent, and all of the 3 starters, 4 entrees, side veg and dessert were scrumptious! Not a meh item in the bunch. Will definitely be back.
I liked the location and ambiance of the restaurant. Service was good. Everyone sitting near my table seemed to loved the food. I had a salad which was delicious. The only disappointment came from the overly salted agnotolli pasta. Not sure if maybe it was only my plate by mistake this happened to so I’m open to give this place one more shot in the future.
Family dinner after graduation - wonderful food and attentive service. They noticed my daughter’s graduation stole and wrote “congratulations” on her plate without prompting. Only down side is that it was loud.
Food was amazing! Can’t wait to come back! Thank you!
This is not fine dining with a properly positioned scallop at 2 o'clock on the plate with a scallion resting over top and running to 6 o'clock. This is not Parmesan Reggiano falling like snow over the dish. This is food. Like at Nonna's. With osso buco which are truly shanks... in a thick sauce, with shavings of flavor over it. With inventive flavors such as the combination of green and white asparagus over butter lettuce with petit mushrooms. And surprises like handkerchief pasta with a basil almond pesto. Food. Not foo foo, but honest and wholesome. And a wine list to please. Like home... Go. Go back. Go back again.
Not sure what all the fuss is about. The food was hit and miss. The Proscuitto appetizer was good but the seafood pasta tasted average and the pork belly was awful-dry and lacking flavor. Service was attentive and our waiter was very nice.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Factory Kitchen. The food was delicious, waiter very helpful. We had theater tickets and our service was very prompt so we made it with time to spare. I would recommend it highly. BW
The kitchen factory is an excellent location for a date or special occasion. There is ample, free, street parking and a valet located in front of the door. The food is great with an incredible cocktail menu as well. Foodies and casual diners would both appreciate the flavors of kitchen factory. As for service, their waiters are very attentive but not overly intrusive. They provided excellent input and timely table service. Of note, it is a noisy restaurant but typical for an LA hotspot. Overall, 5 stars.
We were lucky to get a last minute reservation to celebrate my son’s 21st birthday. It was a great experience. From our attentive & professional server to the really great food, it was an outstanding LA Arts district meal & I’m guessing my son will keep it in his repertoire of great date night venues.
Delicious food in a vaguely ex-industrial setting. The drinks are pricey but generously poured. The “handkerchief pasta” with pesto was so delicious it made me want to keep eating more and more until I died. The beef carpaccio (I’m not recalling the actual term on the menu—but think thin-sliced tartare) was beautifully presented. And the braised beef-cheek was as drop-dead tender and immensely flavorful as one could dream of.
Fabulous on all counts! I dined with an out of town relative and we shared the marinated calamari which was lovely, the prosciutto with stracciatella on fried sage bread which is divine, the handkerchief pasta which is awesome and the porchetta which was so crisply delicious. Hard to believe but we also had a dessert of gelato, meringue, hazelnuts and chocolate which was a fitting end to the meal. Except that we then had the sambucca dark which I had never had before, very herbaceous and strong but quite wonderful for sipping. My cousin said it’s the best meal he has ever had. I return here often because I truly love the place!
Great dining experience for my son's birthday...we had a great dinner
Food comes very slow
I always order the same things - the prosciutto and the handkerchief pasta. They are always outstanding. Thin slices of prosciutto on top of a small bed of arugula and topped with creamy bufala mozzarella, all lying atop a puffy bread disk. The pasta is like eating delicious silk.
Don’t go for a cozy atmosphere. This place is busy and feels industrial. It’s hard surfaces make for a noisy place when it’s crowded. Our service was good, although charmless.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Their food is always incredible. The homemade pasta is so light and flavorful. The salads are so fresh, the cheese so creamy. Can’t speak highly enough about the food!
Wonderful good and nice ambiaence. This was my third time at the restaurant, and it is consistently excellent. We ordered three starters and 3 pastas. All was exceptional.
Seriously incredible dining experience that made my girlfriends b-day celebration so special. Specific shout out to the hostess that greeted us and chatted with us at our table (blanking on her name but she's a younger female with glasses)! I'd absolutely come back and recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing Italian dinner :)
Our 3rd time dining at Factory Kitchen in LA. Outstanding every time. I tried to stop at the new Factory Kitchen in Las Vegas but it was closed for a private event. Will be going to Las Vegas again soon and will try it again. Have told others about the LA location and recommended it.
The only real complaint was the noise level. Otherwise, the food and service were excellent.
Always a treat to go to the Factory Kitchen. The food and service is outstanding. The Green Pesto Pasta is otherworldly.
Always a great experience at Factory Kitchen.
Food NEVER disappoints and the service is great too.
Everything was fabulous!!!!
Great food and service! Would return
This is a solid restaurant but I am not sure it is worth the price. Wines by the glass are very expensive and the choice is limited.
Great service. Accommodating dietary menu suggestions from server. Overall, i will definitely dine again :)
This place is great, has been great, and it has remained great. For a long period. I can't say that about a lot of restaurants in Los Angeles. This one stands the test of time, and puts out amazing food, served by amazing people. The go to is the pesto pasta - homemade, like air, delicious. Go. Be happy. Eat well. Enjoy.
Food is always fresh and delicious. Staff is always amazing. I love this place for business meetings and for pleasure.
The handkerchief pasta with pesto and the flatbreads are excellent.
The food is really excellent! Started with a huge salad easily split for 3, then two pastas to share and a side of yummy brussel sprouts! A couple of glasses of wine, no dessert. Lovely mid week evening. Not inexpensive but not ridiculous either.
My friend and I had never been to the restaurant and we were very happy with the service, the quality of food and the ambiance of the restaurant. The team of servers were on point. The plates of food delivered to other patrons' tables looked amazing. Not only will I recommend to my friends, I shall bring them myself.
We went to dinner with another couple and we where pleasantly surprised. The service was great and the food (a bit pricey) but just delicious. We will be back. Cannot wait!
This is the first Italian restaurant that I have dined at that actually made me feel like I was back in Italy. The pizza was superb, the liver pate mouth watering, and the porchetta was amazing. I will be back.
Reliably good food. Efficient operation. No pretense. One of our go-to places.
