The Factory Kitchen - Los Angeles
Helmed by Restaurateur Matteo Ferdinandi, his wife Beverage Director Francine Diamond-Ferdinandi and their longtime friend and Partner Executive Chef Angelo Auriana, the Factory Kitchen re-defined the approach and the experience to casual dining in the city by combining elements of culinary arts, service, and design.
A traditional Italian Restaurant & Bar in the heart of the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, the Factory Kitchen culinary concept focuses on local recipes from the Northern Italian Regions; but emphasizes on some Ligurian traditional dishes like Mandilli di Seta al Pesto alla Genovese and the Focaccina Calda al Formaggio di Recco.

We went there with the family for my wife's birthday. It had a different vibe since it was in the Art's District but we liked it. They played 80's soft rock but we could have a nice conversation amongst ourself without speaking loudly. We order various dishes including the peperu, calamari salad, gnocchi, handkerchief pesto pasta, porchetta and NZ fish. For dessert we had the cannoli and bigne. Everything was very tasty but our favorites were the peperu, handkerchief pasta, porchetta and cannoli. Portions were average size but quality was amazing. The server was very attentive, made some solid suggestions and had a great smile. My wife was very happy with my selection so we will definitely be back!! Well Done!!
The rib eye with bone barrow dish was absolutely delicious. A friend had the sea robbin dish and another friend had the lamb gnocchi and both were very good. I’m a big pesto fan but their pesto pasta was lacking a bit of flavor. It was alright but not super delicious like most people reviews claim. The bread that the prosciutto is served on is very good. For dessert we tried the cannoli and panna cota and they were ok (not something you’ll crave later on). Overall, I recommend this place because the main courses were delicious.
Difficult menu but staff helps greatly. Food is off the chart!
gone many times but this was disappointing. food very average and below prior experience. no one was waiting on us and had flag people down. we were told waitress had not arrived yet to work, but no one was looking after us until we started to complain. one other thing, which seems trivial but we were sharing a salad and i wanted pepper but companion didn't, so I asked for pepper. waitress came with pepper grinder and I said I wanted to do it because we not began to put salad on our plates, and told this was the only pepper grinder the restaurant had reluctantly left at table. weird.
Always a good meal. The food and service were just what you would expect.
I really enjoyed the food and the 1/2 bottle of wine on Mondays thru September
FK is always a treat. Perfectly prepared, delicious pasta and a very good wine by the glass selection.
The food, as usual was excellent. The noise level was ridiculous. I strained to hear my girlfriend from across our small table. To make things worse, management has music playing in the background. If concert-level noise does not bother you, then you’ll be fine. Otherwise, make an early reservation to avoid it.
Superb food. Efficient service. Hugely popular. But the noise level in this concrete shell was close to intolerable.
Service was terrible. Our waiter didn’t come to our table to give menus or offer water. I had to go up to the host after waiting and ask for her to get menus. When the waiter did show up, he seemed like he could care less. When my husband asked about about a couple pasta dishes, the server seemed irritated and didn’t seem like he knew the menu. He couldn’t recommend any dishes without skimming through the menu himself. When our appetizers and entrees were dropped off (by the food runners) our server didn’t stop by at all to ask if we needed anything further or ask if we were enjoying our meals. The only time he did stop by was to refill my husband’s water glass, which also turned into an unpleasant experience because my husband had still water and I had sparkling water; needless to say since he barely spent time at our table I guess he didn’t know I was drinking the sparkling water and he ended up pouring my sparkling water on top my my husbands half empty still water. After he did this, he didn’t apologize, left with the water, brought a new empty glass and left. A sincere apology at least would have been nice since a good amount of the sparkling water, which the restaurant charges a decent amount for, was wasted. We also had to ask someone for the check and the server dropped it off without saying anything! Crazy rudeness level! My husband and I rarely eat at home and eat out basically every night, so we have experienced our fair share of restaurants. This was one of the most awkward, unpleasant evenings.
With that being said, I feel like I can’t be upset with the whole establishment. I believe this might have been the case of a bad apple. When I looked around, all the other servers and bussers seemed very pleasant and attentive to the tables. The food itself was pretty good, nothing mind-blowing, but it looked and tasted like they put care into it. I wish the service we received matched the food. I left with a very sour taste in my mouth...
Amazing good and good value for the quality. Share dishes for the best experience and to try more things. Attentive and prompt service
Consistently wonderful food and service. Great vegetarian options.
I arrived to the restaurant without a reservation the place was almost empty. The hostess Em Was really rude and said there were no tables, sent me to the bar without even checking availability. I got online and had to make a reservation then had to walk back to the hostess to let her know there were indeed enough tables to sit 2 people. When I told the manager about it she also provided poor customer service saying that it was protocol. I arrived smiling and was polite, they were both not. I understand people have bad days but it was really poor customer service and nothing was done about it. The food was good though and the server was very attentive :)
The food was not good. The only taste came from the quality of the imported pasta but they could not deliver on the sauce or the meat quality. The waiter also could not get away fast enough each time he interacted with us. I won’t be returning because it just isn’t worth it. Lots of other places downtown are better options.
It was good.
I would recommend Factory Kitchen, but I would strongly caution that the noise level in the restaurant can be obnoxiously loud. Really unpleasant this past Saturday evening.
We ordered many small plates to share for a party of 4. Green salad was nothing special, nor was the pork belly. Hankerchief pasta was better, but not wow. Another “filled” pasta was ok, as was the duck, but it was not tender. The mussels were plentiful, but were served with garbanzos and the broth had no taste. Desserts faired better, and the service was sufficient. Good, but Not good enough to call me back!
The best Italian food I’ve ever had in Los Angeles.
All of the pasta is made fresh in house & the cocktails are delicious.
Great meal, nice folks and had a great time.
I’ve been to Factory Kitchen twice before. This time the food is as exceptional as ever, but I am very unhappy with the timing of the courses. We ordered appetizers, and when the appetizers came, we ordered our entrees. Well, our entrees came before we finished our appetizers! We were done in 40 minutes. The 2 tables next to us who were eating when we were seated were still eating their entrees when we left...
My partner was celebrating his birthday. We had a party that kept changing due to commitments. I felt like I would call every 5 days to adjust our final count. They did not mind. I loved that even on the day of the dinner we had people show up late but the staff was very accommodating. It’s not everyday we have a birthday so grateful they understood and were flexible. Our server was amazing, she always had a smile on her face.
Celebrated girlfriend’s birthday! Food was delicious and service was great! We will be back!
Unfortunately we found our waiter disengaged and slightly unpleasant. The food was not as WOW as my other times. The handkerchief pesto pasta which has always been a favorite was to thick
Great food - it is definitely more on the higher end of taste and selection. If you are going for spaghetti and meatballs this is not the place. Wine selection was superb with many Italian wines. House made fresh pasta was excellent. I had the Porchetta and it was excellent. Perfectly cooked.
Cozy Italian restaurant in the Arts District. Especially love the pasta and Foccacia.
One of our favorite places to bring friends - We love sharing many of the pasta dishes
We ate and drank til we couldn’t eat or drink anymore....
Mandili, another Mandili... rucola salad.... sea bass... Rose wine
Everything was on point and delicious... and we even had a visit from Mateo the owner which made it even more special!
Mille grazie Factory Kitchen per una cena fantastica!!!
We loved it as always
Food was decent but my personal experience with the service was poor! The hostess confirmed to us as we arrived before our reservation that we would be seated in a few minutes and we could wait at the bar. That was totally fine but did not appreciate see her seat two couples before us even though we were there earlier than them and I even overheard one of the couples say that their reservation was 15 minutes after ours. Did not appreciate that at all!
Celebrating a friend’s birthday.
Very good service and great ambiance. Food was very oily.
Sad to say, but I think the food is overpriced for the portion size for each dish. $21 for a pizzata that’s not even filling. We ordered 7 dishes and 2 appetizers along with drinks and our bill was over $300. Save your $.
Super noisy space difficult to chats between friends in the table
Overpriced, average food at best.
Great food, great service.
Great ambiance and amazing food. Quiet little street tucked in an alley. I never would have known it was there if not for a friends recommendation. Staff provides great service and anticipates your every need. Can wait to return.
We had the tissue thin pesto pasta, osso buco, orange on white frisse lettuce and the fried sage dough with prosciutto and straciatella - all delicious, would order again. I love old industrial complexes repurposed and reinvented. The aperol spritz was right on as well. Service fast, waiter knowledgable - got to our show on time.
Our second time at the Factory Kitchen. The cosonzei, handkerchief pasta and the beet casserole were fantastic. A new discovery for us was the fonti(?) Zuchini flowers on a very thin crust pizza., soo good.
Great meal. Love the homemade pasta. Great service by Amanda. Dessert was delicious
Outstanding service, presentation and taste. Will definitely eat a repeatable spot on my list!
