I loved the flavors in the dishes served. The starters were very small portions but the entrees and sides were generous. We were one of three parties in the whole restaurant and it seemed the wine pour and drinks were very small for the price. We would have had another drink or stopped by the bar if it wasn’t for that
Already recommended this restaurant to a friend this morning. Everything was great from the moment we walked in. Hostess greeted us warmly and got us seated. Server showed up and explained the menu. Drinks are fantastic. Food was great. Server made sure to explain which dishes had peanuts, as i am allergic. The birthday boy was very happy.
Excellent dinner! The hummus is the bet I've ever tasted. And if you're looking for a place that offers lots of vegetarian options, there's no shortage of vegetable dishes. They were very accommodating to food allergies and everyone was able to enjoy their food. If you haven't gone to the Exchange, you must try it!
Date night with wife. Awesome food. Lighting was a little too dark, but overall good ambiance. Server was very helpful in explaining the menu and made two great recommendations. Will definitely come back.
Delicious food!
Great food. Expensive. The music became louder and louder so we left. A little more lighting at the table would make it a lot easier to see the menu!
Delicious food.
Lovely waitstaff
Unique and comfortable atmosphere.
Do yourself a favor and go!!
Took my friend to The Exchange for her birthday lunch, first time for both of us. We both really liked our meals (salmon salad and falafel salad) and I enjoyed my turmeric & pineapple drink. Lovely decor, nice relaxing spot. We visited the roof bar and pool just to check it out. Good day.
Amazing, innovative food and great drinks. I'll be back soon.
It was great
Despite having made dinner reservations, waiting a few more extra 10 more minutes was worth the wait for this really remarkable restaurant. We were seated upstairs, which was ok..but then a very large group was seated right by us. Eventually, a dj chimed in..but despite the hectic noise level, we were still able to have conversation. Our server was really super friendly, and our food arrived very promptly. We both had the lamb kabob, which was so flavorful & fresh. We also shared a hummus appetizer which was the best, especially the fresh warm pita bread! My friend had a tumeric/pineapple drink, which she said was really nice, and I enjoyed the special drink of the night which was the blood orange margarita! It was really good too! We had for dessert a pistachio saffron cheesecake which was really nice! Def will be back again soon!
Hi There, Thank you so much for waiting for those extra 10 minutes as sometimes we can get a little behind schedule and we know it is 100% worth the wait! Experiences such as yours make my day! Hope to see you again soon! Please say hello next time you're in! Joaquin Anaya General Manager, The Exchange Restaurant and Rudolph's Bar & Tea
Great food, great ambiance!
The food is scrumptious, surprising and creative. Fantastic restaurant.
Hi Rogelio. Love the choice of words! Thank you for the kind comment. Hope to see you soon! Joaquin Anaya General Manager, The Exchange Restaurant and Rudolph's Bar & Tea
We had only been to the Exchange for brunch (3 times) and we loved the place! The Brunch menu/food is much better, the ambiance/noise level is also significantly more pleasant, as at dinner the music is cranked up making it very difficult to carry on a conversation. For starters we had the Salatim Platter which was excellent and very tasty. For a main, my two companions had the lamb patty special which they said was rather bland and I had the tuna collar which was tasty, but just a tiny bit of meet and a lot of bones. I doubt we will go back there for dinner.
I would highly recommend the Exchange for Brunch.
The service was impeccable on all of our visits, both brunch and dinner.
Great food & atmosphere! Good spot for a big group or celebration
Originally wanted to take the whole family for a nice Valentine’s Day dinner. Eventually my husband and I decided to go sans the kiddos. Glad we did. We started off with some cocktails that were absolutely beautiful! We got a bottle of wine that our waiter (who also does the wine list) warned us to go in with a open mind, since it wasn’t like a traditional taste we were probably used to. The beef tartare was amazing the hummus the smoothest I’ve ever had and the skewer trio was great as well. We’re still talking about the Brussels sprouts my husband said they were second to mine. I disagree I think they were so much better! All in all we had a great dinner and a show on our walk back to the car ( after all it is in the heart of downtown so you can imagine what kind of peep show we got).
Hi There! Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your experience. Glad you had a great time here at The Exchange. We also think the Brussel Sprouts are amazing. Joaquin Anaya General Manager, The Exchange Restaurant & Rudolph's Bar & Tea
Maybe I was expecting too much, but was underwhelmed by this restaurant. The food is OK, nothing that I will remember or talk about.
Whole fried fish was amazing and LOTS of food! Also really enjoyed the cabbage salad and cocktails.
Hi Ian, Thank you for the kind words! Hope to see you in here again soon. Joaquin Anaya General Manager, The Exchange Restaurant & Rudolph's Bar & Tea
The food we ordered it’s too salted
very different menu -- some typicals for breakfast but great food that the server was fantastic guiding. a bit of an issue -- setup an reservation for 9:45am but they didn't open until 10am. Schedule was tight but that said think it was OpenTable.
Recommend --foods great.
Girlfriend’s mom’s birthday
The food was superb. It ranks among the top five meals ever had. The beef Carpaccio was superb - we were ready to lick the plate. The pear and apple salad was refreshing. The avocado was spectacular. Service was fantastic. There are two types of bread - nam and pita. We asked for the nam - we like it better.
Can't wait to go again.
Sunday they have the best Shashuka in town!
Great for breakfast and lunch!
Great spot for healthy alternatives for breakfast. Highly recommend if staying at Freehand.
It was Saturday afternoon so it was the brunch menu which was very limited. Food was OK but uninspired, sauces were great.
Delicious! We did the dine LA dinner menu and everything was so good. I even bought a bottle of the harissa sauce to take home. Wonderful service too. Highly recommend.
This was my first experiance with Isreali food and it was fantastic! Every dish had a different spice and it was all good! The Malabi dessert was like a hybrid of several desserts and it was amazing! The staff was really great. My only issue was the lighting. I could barely see the wonderful food I was eating!
Went for DineLA and had an awesome meal! We started with the delicious pita bread and hummus, and the lamb skewer was surprisingly filling for its size. The chocolate ganache dessert was unlike any dessert I’ve ever had - sweet but salty with olive oil ice cream made for a memorable dining experience.
The food at The Exchange is extremely good and full of wonderful middle eastern flavors. We’ve been looking for a good Middle Eastern restaurant and we have finally found it! The great service is provided by a remarkably friendly staff. We highly recommend this dining location for a great culinary experience!
My first time there, and I really enjoyed it. My friend really liked it too, because the vegetarian menu had many options. We actually ordered off the DINELA MENU. MY FRIEND Had the eggplant entree, and also hummus appetizer which was more than enough. I had the chicken entree, and salad appetizer. The desert was amazing too; Rose geranium glacé. The service here was very knowledgeable and very friendly. The restaurant itself was very cozy, and real pretty.i really would enjoy going back here some day.
Aww man, where do I start? If you're looking for a great dish, different from the norm, then go to The Exchange. This was, by far, the best meal I've had so far this year. Can't wait to go back, it truly was an experience to remember.
Food and service were amazing. Music was way too loud though.
We have been to The Exchange multiple times as a couple and with groups. It is always excellent food and great service. The flavors in every dish are just superb. We had Salatim = hummus, eggplant and avocado. Lamb and chicken kabobs, sweet potato and fingerlings, cauliflower, shawarma and yellowtail. Everyone raved about everything. One of our favorite restaurants in DTLA.
Best steak I ever had. Great place for special occasion.
My favorite restaurant as they accommodate for vegan clients with exquisite cuisine. I came here for New Years and had a preset menu which they modified to make sure it was vegan.
We loved ringing the old year out at this restaurant! Lovely cocktails, amazing food, and excellent service!
The food was exceptional as was the service.
Everything was of very high quality. The lamb was amazing.
Food was exceptional as always but unfortunately most of the dishes were dumped on the table all at once. Didn’t impress me and I doubt it impressed my dinner guests. You would expect the five pound snapper and accompanied pas Thai noodles might not be dropped with all the other side dishes. Come to think of it, the pad Thai noodles were drowning in a delicious sauce.
Still would recommend the exchange.
Food was unique and exciting. Portion size adequate. A very nice experience.
