Only for it's ambiance. Service takes too long! Our reservations were at 12, we were seated at 12:05 but our food took an hour to come out. The salad I had with yogurt was not the best. My daughter had the exchange burger and loved it. Now I remember why I hadn't been there in 2 years. Not going again any time soon. Cute place though.
Food was just ok, and so overpriced for what it was. Servers had to yell to be heard over the music and we spent the whole date night, yelling back and forth. Won’t go back
The hummus and baba ganoush were both delicious, the service was very thoughtful about listening to special requests and information about the food. But they shouldn't charge for the pita for the dips - at least on should be included. The burger was good quality.
Food is excellent, service is really good, nice ambience, and great decor.
Great healthy food, good vibes, friendly staff, moderns and quirky!
The food is more Mexican than Israeli which is fine just not what I was looking for.
A place where meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans can dine together. Numerous options, everything is tasty! Engage your server to select the best options for your palate -- spicy, sweet tart etc.
This would have been a delightful experience except for the deafening noise. Were it not for how loud it is, I could easily imagine this becoming a regular restaurant for us. But because of the noise, we'll be reluctant to go back.
The night was perfect. My daughter chose The Exhange for her 20th bday dinner with the fam and she was nothing but impressed. Thank you for making her and our experience wonderful. We will sure be back!
Loved it all. We had only veggie options, salad trio, eggplant, cauliflower... pita was fantastic, cabbage salad was outstanding. We will be back!
Really fantastic ambiance in DTLA. The design of the dining room is outstanding. Loved how fresh all the food was. I would absolutely go back. The only drawback was that this place definitely falls into the category of serving sizes are just a little on the small side.
Great ambiance, superior service, delicious food! With waiter’s recommendation we ordered the appetizer platter which was great. Platter had two types of hummus, marinated olives, red cabbage salad and they all tasted great. Lentil soup was flavorful. Eggplant sandwich was very tasty too. Will definitely go back. Would love to go back at night and try their dinner menu.
Most dishes were excellent. Eggplant, tuna, crab rice dish and the small plates to share were lovely. 70s vibe was very cool and fabric kept noise levels down. Didn't love sitting on a bench? Cush it up a bit!! All in all , so well done. Great food, but gimme a chairback friends!!
I typically enjoy my experience at The Exchange, but that night the service was off. There were larger, more boisterous groups dining in that evening, so they were receiving all of the attention. I think they forgot to put in our order, so the server came back 15 minutes later to confirm our order. At that point we had been seated for a very long time with just water. Food was very slow coming out. It was an hour after being seated that we saw our entree.
The food was great, the server was really attentive, but the music was too loud.
We loved the food and the service was great but the volume of the terrible music made it impossible to converse with our friends. We left before having dessert and coffee because of the noise. Too bad because we would come again only if the music could be tamed. We were told that the hotel manager set the standard for the music. Someone should notify him/her of this problem.
Service was outstanding and food really good.
Fish cooked perfectly.
Amazing food!!! But the noise level made it near impossible to converse with our friends.
The food was amazing! Our server was so sweet and helpful. Love the atmosphere. Will come again!
Delicious food. Atrocious service & unpleasant staff. This place is also a hostel so not the best clientele
Cool ambiance, unique menu, delicious flavors, table style, wish they offered pita on the side
Great ambiance, nice host, great server, awesome wine and cocktails. Food was great.
I loved it there, the service, the food, and the decor were amazing.
WOW!!! Food was to die for!! Loved it! Will return!!
Made us feel very special for celebrating Valentine’s Day
The servers were fun and helpful (with a perfect degree of sass) but the food/cocktails were super lack luster for the price. The dishes were small, as were the drinks. Walked away feeling hungry and broke. Also, the aesthetic was distracting: somewhere between Aspen and Japan. But not in a good way. I don’t understand why people rave about this place at all.
Food was fair. We felt rushed. The lamb sausage had a strange seasoning.
Myself and a lady friend had an early dinner reservation here on a Saturday night. The hostess at the front that night had shoulder length brown hair and heavily drawn on eyebrows, and was possibly the weirdest, most awkward, rudest, least accomodating hostess I have ever dealt with in my entire 36 years on this planet. The rest of the service staff was delightful, but I will never eat here again because of that hostess.
Enjoyed our night out, great staff
Awful! After an hour and 15 min our food never arrived so we left for our show hungry. Super frustrating. Never again!
As always, the food was excellent at the Exchange. This is our favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. We kept it simple this time. Beef Tartare, Tuna Tartare, Burnt Eggplant and Red Cabbage. And we always have olive oil cake. We love, love, love the olive oil cake.
We had reservations at 5:45. This is my one complaint. Plenty of tables, but the hostess gave us the table by the door. We are repeat customers, but not young hipsters. Don't they want older people to enjoy themselves. Why the table by the door?
Service was excellent as always.
We love the Exchange.
Unexpectedly flavorful and complex for such simple dishes. The restaurant concepts allows everyone to taste many dishes through the meal. Highly recommended.
Food and staff excellent. Noise level pretty awful. Valet parking needs more staff.
Meh: not a particularly inspired or interesting menu. Food was average at best and waitstaff, although efficient, were poorly trained: I was taking the last bite of my entree when our server swooped in and asked to take my plate. While my wife was still eating asked if we wanted our desserts. Not good
Food was delicious, altho on the salty side. Not too salty. Varied menu, and our server suggested a wine that I really enjoyed. Terrific service. Our water was kept filled, food recommendations were spot on. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, altho we got lucky. Metered parking until 8 pm.
Not a bad effort from the Exchange!
waited 30 mins to be told they were out of the wine I had chosen and offered an alternative 40 bucks dearer but no offer to cover that.
Bit pricey for what it was at 38 dollars for ONE lamb skewer.
Won't go again.
Food was great!
The food is fantastic, as is the service.
All I can say, is that I've been at this unique special and fun restaurant three times and will gladly go back. The food is outstanding. Check out the Fish picture, one of the best item on the menu,
The cocktails are out of this world. Service is exceptional..
