I was disappointed in the service and the quality of the food and beverage selection. The beer selection was gross. The food was not good at all. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. It was mostly fried breading and no chicken. The first coruse and second course came at the same time. The server was unfamiliar w the menu. There is a lot of room for improvement bc it’s a cool space. I went to ND business school in that building and would have loved a place to hang out after class. The food needs a major upgrade. The menu doesn’t make sense.

Despite good reviews online, they missed the mark the night of our visit. Service was lacking, drinks took forever to arrive even though it was early and didn’t appear busy, and food was very off. Maybe we selected the wrong things, but the salmon that topped my salad was so salty it was inedible and the poke bowl was topped with so many jalapeños it too was difficult to eat. Once we were finally asked how our meal was, we had eaten what we could and had to leave, but they were receptive to our feedback and removed a few of the items from our bill which was appreciated. We probably won’t go back.

Amazing atmosphere, service was a tiny bit slow but I think they were short handed. I would still recommend this as a place to go. Everyone enjoyed their food.

The food was excellent but the staff needs a little coaching. Food delivered to me without silverware, had to wait on that. Staff loudly shouting across dining room to each other about a large party with diners present. And one server apparently needed a carafe for water, so he took the one I was using, refilled it (without washing it) and delivered it to another table. No one brought me a replacement carafe so I could have more water.

Nice setting in the lobby atrium of the historic landmark Railway Exchange building. The food was tasty and the service was adequate. Happy to have stumbled upon this downtown gem!

The front lounge gives a typical bar atmosphere with a good sound system. It was a little to loud for myself and my +1. We were re-seated in the open dining room. Sound level and crowd noise was much more subdued. Our waitress was very polite and made us feel right at home. Our food was well prepared with delightful nuances in the spicing completed our experience.

Lemon chicken orzo soup is delicious— practically a meal on its own. Tomato bisque very tasty. Salmon and vegan yellow curry were excellent. Smoothest Manhattan I’ve had in a long time. The atrium at lunchtime on a Friday was very quiet, quieter than we expected. Beautiful space!

I must have misunderstood something. We chose the Exchange to eat in the "listening room". When we went in it as no different than any other crowded restaurant. Not sure what we were "listening" to over then a lot of people eating lunch. We decided to eat in the atrium. Food was fine- nothing unique. Tomato bisque was very salty for some reason. Otherwise fine.

I like the restaurant setup. Food was good but service was really slow and bad. Didn’t really seem like the people working there cared all that much. Check ins were infrequent and the server didn’t seem all too friendly.

Nice ambience, I like the sofa chairs and various rugs and open space in the atrium. Our server was very friendly and was knowledgeable re: menu. The dinner rolls were delicious. The Brussels sprouts were not as crispy as I like them. The lamb meatballs were good. The cocktails were very good. The issues I had were the shared starters did not come with serving spoons (meatballs and Brussels sprouts). This was ok since there were three of us but would have been uncomfortable in a larger group as we had to use our own silverware. There are not many options for dinner and the menu should be expanded (maybe why they are known for brunch). With that said, two of us had sandwiches (burger and crispy chicken which luckily were good but they were not planning on sandwiches for dinner). I had the hanger steak (medium) with a sticky rice and shishoto peppers. It was bland. The rice was dry and sticky. I guess it’s more a Japanese style but it lacked any sauce so it felt like sushi without the soy sauce. The steak seemed seared with no rub or seasoning. I took two bites and returned it. Our server never came to ask about the meal but as our table was cleared by someone else, he sent a ?manager who offered another meal which I declined because I had already shared the burger/fries with my husband. The crème brûlée was not gelatinous (it was like a soft custard and also a little cold). My chocolate chip cookie (and milk) was very good. They charged us for the steak but took the crème brûlée off the check. I still tipped 20% as I assumed they removed the steak from the check (my husband looked it over). I payed on the card reader and did not see the details. He later told me that we paid for a meal that I only took two bites. Not the experience I was hoping for. I won’t be going back again.

The toughest thing about dining at The Exchange was finding its name on the Google Map App. Lunchtime salad, mocktail, and ambience were all top notch. My lunch companion—former colleague who grew up in IL and visiting now from out of state—loved it. Our server was really great too. I will be back.

The bread has disappeared. for such a wonderful restaurant the pepper was anot a grinder but old tasteless paper.. Ambience is so glorious and soup so yummy, will return anyway.

Very nice meal before a show. My group of 4 all enjoyed the food and the service. We sat in the atrium which has a wonderful atmosphere. Good drinks and a decent wine list. The food menu is not very large however it does include a wide range of options.

The salmon was dried out, and too salty. That your bar doesn’t have crème de cassis is so bizarre not like crème de cassis goes bad! The wait staff was fantastic well as ambience. But until the food improves I won’t be back.

We had a nice quiet lunch here that was in the most beautiful setting. I was shocked at how delicious the grilled cheese was. The bacon on the Cobb salad was next level. This made for a memorable visit.

Nice spot for drinks and dinner before the symphony. Atrium was noisy, esp. because we were seated right next to the speaker on the west side. Happy hour drinks were well priced. Marinated olives were delicious. Should have paired w/the Parker House rolls to sop up all that great garlic olive oil. Tomato soup was smokey yet bright with fresh basil. Wish there were more small plates on the menu. Kitchen is too heavy handed with cheese. Royale Cheeseburger was excellent flavor-wise but it was overwhelmed by a slab of gruyere. Endive salad was a miss w/so much blue cheese that you would never know there were also anchovies. Server was sweet but inattentive, missed the chance to sell us another round of drinks, had no menu suggestions, didn't notice that we waited forever for our dinner plates, didn't circle around to see if we needed anything, had to be reminded to bring our check so we could get to the show.

we ordered mostly appetizers! it was delicious the atrium is beautiful and so historical. our waitress explained to us the history of how it was offices for the train system built in 1902. we will for sure be coming back!
