The Evergreen Restaurant & Lounge
Need to book at 7:00 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
-disorganized, uncoordinated; no sign of management oversight
-extremely limited menu for RM Gold Leaf meal plan
-mistakes in serving (wrong salad, missing ingredients)
-steak over done; ordered medium rare, was served medium well
-staff conflicts (screaming "chef") easily overheard in dining area
-poor ventilation from food prep area, with smells of cooking fish in dining area
Quiet setting, fast service, good food. Caesar salad is terrific.
It a nice restaurant in the Delta Marriot Hotel in Banff. It is a fair priced establishment and the food is good.
Lovely menu with interesting variety. Waiter was excellent and very accommodating.
The bartender (Gigi) turned a bad experience into a positive experience. OpenTable allowed me to make a late (10:30 pm) reservation, however the restaurant actually closes at 10:00 pm. They allowed us to have a limited choice from the bar menu in the bar lounge. The bartender was very helpful and understanding.
The food was delicious. The staff and service were amazing.
Very nice restaurant. We ate dinner there and liked it so well that we came back for breakfast the next day.
Located in the Delta Marriott Canadian Royal Lodge on the east end of the town of Banff, this is the nicest restaurant at this end of town.
Breakfast: Standard breakfast menu, any kind of egg wih any kind of side. And I must say the potatoes are deelish! Excellent friendly service. Sometimes there’s a buffet, sometimes there’s not. The portions are on the larger side and the fruit on the plate was not just melon! The open kitchen in the back is visible to all diners so that is a refreshing change from other restaurants. You can tell the serving team here has a great vibe going!
Dinner: I always assume a packed restaurant is a good one and I wasn't wrong at Evergreen! The live music from the hotel bar was piped into this restaurant the night we were there and the guitar player was very good. He played songs we all know. The lights are dimmed for supper, the tables now covered with black linen and the menu has a good variety. I am guessing they specialize in steak because there were a few on the menu. And the one we ordered was perfectly cooked and quite tender. The portions are a reasonable size, the food quality is quite high and everything my party of 4 ordered was VERY tasty! Of course, I wanted to switch something on my entree and it was easily accommodated. Nice! Our server was very friendly, not in a hurry and quite knowledgable. We cancelled our other reservation and came here the next night too because there was more we wanted to try on the menu, and again, everything had great flavours! Can't say enough - will always eat here when I visit Banff!!
We had a great experience at The Evergreen. The food and service were impeccable. Our only qualm was that the restaurant was extremely dark. It went right past ambient too far into very dark. It felt like they had forgotten to turn up a few of the dimmers. That being said we still had a great time and as mentioned enjoyed our food A LOT. Very well seasoned and extremely impressed with it.
Very friendly staff
This place was fantastic. We went in on a Monday night and were early due to taking our young daughter with us. We were the only table so I was a bit nervous I'd give kitchen being ready to roll, but they did not disappoint. I had the chef's 3 course menu that nice which was great. My wife had the cod and clams dish which she said was the best she's ever had, very flavorful sauce and seasoning on the fish. We also had the grilled calamari, which was a real treat.
Our waiter Charles was fantastic and provided good conversation as well.
We had the table de hote elk short rib dinner and it was fantastic.
I think there was a group dinner in another location so service was slow. My server initially was rushed but much more attentive as evening progressed. I eat frequently in Banff but this was my first visit to this place and I actually went there as they had lamb on their web menu but was told menu was changed and no lamb offered!! Very limited wine by glass menu with only two choices of red. I had the Malbec. Acceptable taste. Surprised nicely at portion size of the pate and tasty. The elk was cooked medium and delicious. They need to be more creative with their sides though.
Desert menu for me was uninspiring
Will I go back. Maybe but with so many other choices of eating places in Banff ....
My server eventually was very professional
Excellent dining experience. Everyone at the table was completely satisfied. The kids split sesame chicken and rice and both said how delicious the meal was. My wife and I split the spicy hot pot and this has become our meal of choice. I highly recommend this restaurant
We went for Christmas dinner and it was wonderful! The food was delicious! We had a reservation and were seated before the time of our reservation. The food was delicious! It was a set menu full of incredible choices! Dessert was delivered to our table before our main had arrived, and the settings were not complete, but the staff were quick to rectify any concerns. Overall, it was a wonderful meal and a great way to spend Christmas! I would highly recommend The Evergreen Restaurant
Visiting Banff overnight. Very nice dinner. Very attentive waiters.
We found this restaurant recommended in a tour guide as well as Open Table. Because the full service area was not open until 5, we were seated in the bar area, and very surprised at the great menu, and very good service. Food was excellent!
The service was terrible. Food was cold . Sent it back. Didn't eat it second go round. Recieved a 10 percent discount really not acceptable. Both me and my wife got sick later on in the evening. Would not go back if it was free
Great Caesar salad! Enjoyed my meal here.
food was good but management seemed inept; they had lost our reservation however they did fit us in. At the end of the meal we were awaiting the bill and the Maitre d' came and indicated they would need the table.
We were the ONLY ones in the dining room for lunch at 2pm
It took over half hour to be served a burger and salad
Good quality food with some unique dishes. I had the Elk and it was good.
We had dinner there. Everything is good. No complaints. Good service and food, and it is comfortable.
We stopped in for a lunch as we were going through banff. I want sure about stopping at a hotel restaurant. The mixed platter in the lingerie was excellent. As well as the truffle fries (hot and fresh). It was fun watching people coming and going and chatting with our waitress.
Not full at lunch but worth stopping in and enjoying the peace and quiet away from the busy streets of banff in the summer.
Great food with thoughtful service. We were so pleased!
We were celebrating a special birthday. One of the reasons we selected The Evergreen was the excellent selection of Okanagan wines and Taylor Fladgate Tawny Port. We both ordered the Arctic Char, which was perfectly seared. Our server was friendly and appropriately attentive, without hovering. We were pleased that it was a quiet night without tour groups. All in all, a lovely evening.
Nice atmosphere. Our server and the chefs were conscientious about helping me with gluten free choices. They also made sure that I had a full entree with the substitutions. Our attic char was very nicely prepared. Canadian Chardonnay was good too. Very comfortable dining room with a less hubbub than further downtown Chicago
Excellent food and very accommodating for Gluten Free.
The room was nice, the staff was friendly and the food was good.
Our experience started out just okay. We were dining with another couple. The restaurant was half full when we arrived on Valentine's Day and most of the other restaurants in town were booked. And our server, who was very pleasant, indicated that this was busy and didn't really want things to pick up later. They don't have a very extensive offerings of wines by the glass despite a full bar. So, all this created some doubt in our minds which was furthered by the first course. We were excited that we were able to order the asparagus soup off the holiday menu (another clear indication the head chef didn't expect a busy evening) but it was a dud, thin and lacking much flavor. The beet salad with goat cheese was a huge serving with good flavor and gave us hope that things would improve. The arctic char and elk tenderloins were both excellent dishes but the veggie trio was just so-so. We didn't have any room for dessert but did have to send the coffee back it was so cold and bitter.
From curbside attendance and heated underground parking to elegant furniahings and antiques, the Evergreen is a spatkling gem set amongst the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
The staff are welcoming and efficient without hovering. The food is fit for foodies and all orhers who enjoy a quiet, tastfy and ekegant meal.
The special Valentone's menu was well crafted, the chef and staff well trained. The salad with citrus dressing was fresh and lively. Halibut on quinoa was delicious and a bit unexpected. The Chocolate Chartreuse dessert was heaven on a plate.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable meal in a wonderful cozy restsuramt in the hearr of Banff.
Kind of disappointed with my meal I had the artic char with risotto the risotto was very starchy and over cooked with very little seasoning, also a very limited wine list. We did however enjoy our breakfast the day before
First time here. Loved it! Great food and great service. Creative cuisine. We'll be back.
Service was terrible. Inattentive and tried to tell me Coke is served flat in Canada.
I am on a Grand Circle travel trip from Toronto to Vancouver and stopped in the Evergreen. The restaurant decor is very lovely probably one of the better ones in town but I was disappointed when I got one of the last pieces of Arctic char it was overcooked. The restaurant was very gracious and took 20% off the bill however the chef needs to work on his technique
Went to celebrate a special birthday. For a long weekend the restaurant was very empty which affected the ambience. Our server Jacob was very personable and was knowledgeable about the food as well as wine recommendations.
Food was very tasty, everything was cooked perfectly.
It was my boyfriend's birthday and we had a great time. Wonderful service, great food!
What a pleasure it is to find a restaurant that meets the three most important criteria: good food; excellent service; lovely ambiance! The added bonus is that it is located about four blocks from the craziness in downtown Banff! It was easy to walk to and wonderful to be going against the hordes of tourist! It also has a lovely bar! Thanks to our great servers from Manchester England, who served us lunch, and Australia, who served us dinner!
Excellent food and service. We had the clam chowder (soup of the day), blueberry salad, elk loin, Atlantic salmon, and warm goat cheese salad --- all highly recommended.
We selected this restaurant because if was our arrival date and we were staying in the hotel. The food was inedible and overpriced. I would not recommend unless they change the menu and chef. There were much better restaurants further down Banff ave. a short walk
