Everything was fantastic!

The staff at The Establishment was welcoming and courteous even though our reserved table was not ready upon our timely arrival. I only mention this because the restaurant contacted me via text five (5) times to re-confirm my reservation since I originally made it. One of these re-confirm requests (#3) was by phone and the restaurant requested a credit card to hold the table. An additional comment on the noise level of the dining room with the piano where we were seated. The piano player was in competition with the conversation level thus exacerbating the decibel level above what I would consider for such a nice establishment making normal conversation difficult.

Once seated, the service was above average, the dinner was well above average and our overall experience was quite good. Our shared appetizers, the ceviche and gnocchi were well prepared and served; the mains of duck confit, flounder, swordfish and seafood stew were all quite good with the duck confit and flounder taking the top votes. The seafood stew broth was very flavorful. All portions were on the smaller size which was welcomed. Shared desserts of the flan and profiteroles finished off the dinner nicely.

Overall, with the exception of the noise level, a very nice experience

Would recommend but only for special occasions. Food was excellent but expensive for amount. Wish they had just given a basket of bread instead of serving each person just a slice. Fairly loud, felt I had to up my volume just to have a conversation across the booth, and no, I do not have hearing issues.

The Establishment is my new Charleston favorite. The food is amazing and the service is impeccable.
The chef is very accomplished and will work with a guest who has allergies and food issues. Brad Mogan and staff are true professionals. What a pleasure!!!

Accommodated large party

Courteous enough but it seems you’re paying for a lot of pomp and circumstance. Small portions, the sea bass was very good but the blue cabbage side dish needs a lot more work.

Two of our three couples were new to the Establishment and all loved it. The menu is a wonderful variety and our server, Chad, exceptional! You have become one of my top three restaurants in Charleston!

Birthday dinner perfection

I went there with the CSO membership card and was pleasantly surprised to receive a glass of Prosecco with our order. The grouper was tender and flaky as was the tilefish my friend had. It was a treat to find Corsican wines on their wines by the glass listing. I have not seen this before in this area. The rosé was wonderful. I’m already looking forward to returning for a repeat visit.

This is my third visit to the Establishment and as usual the food was outstanding! Fresh seafood, creative desserts, and generous portions. The rain had been heavy in Charleston, which caused the plumbing to malfunction and the restroom down the street was the only available facility, I note this because the management went above and beyond to help the situation. The reason for the 4 stars is the service; they were attentive but way too much attention. Our dinner conversations were repeatedly interrupted and while still chewing my plate was swept away while my friend was still eating. A restaurant of this caliber should know to not clear plates until all the guests are finished eating.

We dined here for my birthday while visiting Charleston and it did not disappoint! The server's description of the dishes we inquired about was like none other I've encountered. It was as if he prepared the dishes himself. Everything was fresh and tasty ... definitely a cut above!

The Establishment never disappoints. The food is always interesting and exceptional. The service is always attentive without being intrusive. The ambiance is elegant without being stuffy.

I am sorry to say that we were very disappointed with our experience. The restaurant itself is a great location with a good ambience and a very helpful staff.
The food was not great and for us was disappointing- overall the food lacked flavor and was not as good as it promised to be. We ordered the Grouper and shrimp and the short ribs.
The biggest disappointment for us was the bottle of wine we ordered. Although the sommelier was complimentary on our choice we were very disappointed by the fact that the bottle was so chilled that it made it impossible to enjoy this bottle of Nebbiolo with our meal. In fact it was still cold by the time we left with half of it still in the bottle.
Overall, the price and service did not match the price.

Although touted as a seafood restaurant, both fish dishes we tried were mediocre.

The food was absolutely amazing, I was a bit sad that they were out of their only vegetarian entree option for my reservation on Valentine’s Day but I still enjoyed the pasta app!

The only thing negative about my experience was that we waited for 40 minutes for a reservation. Both my boyfriend and I have worked in F&B so we understand the struggle, would have appreciated it if they offered something for the amount of time we waited.

Food, Service, and ambience were very nice. Disappointing was the portion size.

We arrived in town last night for a wedding this weekend. We planned ahead and made reservations for Valentines. Valentines is one of those holidays that test a restaurant as they are trying to serve as many people as possible and it is all couples wanting to have a long leisurely dinner. The Establishment handled it flawlessly.

Dinner was wonderful. We had a few minutes wait so sat in the bar area which is gorgeous. Staff was very attentive.

The food was incredible. We started with oysters on a blood orange mignonette. We joked that they test a relationship as you get three of them. Apparently I love my boyfriend more :). We also got the gnocchi which was to die for. I really wish there had been bread on the table to soak up the sauce. My boyfriend had the bone in ribeye and I had the grouper. To me food is celebration so this restaurant is a star!

Perfect Valentine evening! Snapper and Grouper were really good and the dessert was delicious.

Phenomenal spot in downtown Charleston! Everything about it was great and we’re excited to return to the chef bar and have a meal.

We celebrated Valentine’s with a trip to Charleston and dinner at the Establishment. We always love to try new places when we are in town, and The Establishment certainly did not disappoint! Fabulous ambiance, chic decor in a warm and welcoming environment. The service was excellent, and the food delicious. We will definitely be back!

we went on feb 12 and it was a really bad idea , we had the 3 course Valentines special. First we had to wait 55 minutes to get our salad. I can see waiting alone time if it was a 8 course dinner but it wasn't. I had the short rib and the whole top was pure fat(eww). WE usually go and are delighted with the service and the food but we will never go during a special.

Having previously patronized this restaurant, we expected a place fit for foodies with wonderful service. Our surprise was the Valentine week offering which featured a three course meal for $40 with choices directly from the standard menu along with a glass of sparkling wine. That made this an outstanding value. As before, our server gently guided us to outstanding selections while the sommelier's recommendations were excellent and priced below other wines being considered. Caping a perfect evening was complimentary valet service.
