Fantastic Tasting Menu! We enjoyed every course especially the banana poached lobster and Wagyu filet. Be sure to ask for bread and butter!
We had one of the best experiences. Amy the manager was so wonderful and made it so easy for us to accommodate nine people! Our sever D was excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu as well as the wine list! Thank you for making my birthday so special!
Fabulous dinner and excellent attentive service. We thoroughly enjoyed the taste of Thailand tasting menu. Truly incredible flavors.
Chef’s sample menu was outstanding! Paired by our very knowledgeable waiter with great wines for each course. We’ll definitely return!!!
Exceptional dinner, and lovely decor/ambiance. The service was really fine but not superior. Our only complaints were the standard chairs (cushioned w arms) were narrow and not workable but larger people and it was a bit noisy. They did switch out one of our party’s chairs but the hostess has said they had no other chairs and it took the waiter to go get one. But honestly the drawbacks were worth it for the exceptional meal.
The food is great! One dish is better than the next.
One thing to be aware of if you dine early: tables are limited to 90 minutes. We felt a little rushed during the second half of our meal.
The Essex was a great experience- the Thai themed menu was a delight and both our first courses and entrees where delicious (although the black cod was a little heavy on the salt content). The service was very good - the server was knowledgeable, funny and attentive. The onlt down side was we were seated in the first table in front of the fireplace which wasn't a great table. But a small downside.
The intimacy and quiet made it a great place for a quiet early dinner for my husband and I; we will return. And we can't wait to see the next theme.
Amazing food, drinks, and great service from Peter. We love that the menu is always changing.
Nice restaurant . Did the chef tasting but my husband was upset he didn’t get the steak after he saw it lol.
As always perfection on every level .. drinks.. service.. atmosphere and of course the food!!
Don’t miss the Thai happening now .. never better
Absolutely phenomenal dining experience. Restaurant could easily compete in NYC.
I took my wife here for her birthday and was delighted yet again with the creativity of the exotic ingredients. The chef, Colt, absolutely delivered! It's not every day the chef comes out to check on how his guests are enjoying their food. The staff is attentive and friendly.
We LOVED the assortment of salsa dips (great since we liked the different kinds) and the drinks were lavishly presented and tasted quite good! ...and you can't go wrong $1/oyster!! Simple Elegant atmosphere and good service too. Not sure why we don't come here more often!
Excellent food made with care and attention to detail. A must for any foodie!
Life during COVID must present some hard and unique challenges for restaurants trying to keep things safe and keep food and service great. The Essex has done that, and it was nice to see a room full of happy people. In spite of a couple of minor glitches, our really great waiter saved the day and helped to make it a nice experience overall. It was our first time there, and the owner’s visit to our table made us feel very welcome. Highlights of our meal were the Wagyu filet, chayote salad, great local oysters and generous cocktails from the bar. All great.
This was our first time at The Essex. It was very good. The food was very good and they have theme meals. Ours was Mexico. So, the food was based on the theme. The choices were amble and something for everyone. There was also basic menu as well. We enjoyed it very much and will go back. Chef Taylor Cole came out to the tables which was a nice touch.
Wonderful night, loved it!
We Mad the Cinco de Mayo menu, which was delicious, as was an outstanding Margarita
Great experience. Staff made great effort despite being short handed. Look forward to new menu changes on next visit
Flavor(s) are everything and theirs are amazing! It’s like contemplating the nuances of a fine wine. And the wine list is nicely integrated, too!
One of the best meals we've ever had, and we're serious foodies! Chef Colt Taylor has created an amazing experience. Mexico theme was delectable -we fell in love at first bite! Homemade chips and rack of salsas were surprise treat. Great wine list. Peter's S's service was beyond impeccable, and made the dinner unforgettable. I wish we lived near The Essex because we'd be regulars and would want to try every themed menu. Can't wait for our next meal there.
Amazing food in a pleasant surrounding with great service.
Amazing new spring items on the menu!
Amazing food and great service, highly recommend!
Our favorite spot in Connecticut.
Food tasted good but expensive.
The Essex, absolutely fantastic!!
The service is impeccable, on point from the moment you arrive. Delicious appetizers, the waygu enchilada is by far, the best entree I've ever had. Accommodating to patrons with allergies too!! I look forward to another delightful evening in the very near future.
Nice dinner but a bit pricey
Fantastic restaurant with a rotating menu. The tasting menu is always great, the chef here always creates something special.
The restaurant had the final days of Korean BBQ and I wasn't going to miss it. We had the equivalent of a tasting menu and it was wonderful. My husband is not an adventurous eater but even he loved it, bar a couple of side dishes/
Food was great.....Korean barbeque....and menu changes often. Will be back again.
Excellence is the standard here always!
Enjoyed the Korean BBQ menu very much especially being of Korean decent with the limited options in the area. Chef’s spin on some traditional dishes and staying true to others was refreshing and a little exciting. Will be going again next week!!!
We had a lovely delicious Korean dining experience. Thanks Chef Colt and Co.
Our meal was beautifully cooked, and perfectly spiced. We will be back soon!
Great date night for Valentine’s Day.The only critique is that the portions of food were small but they did taste great. The service was really great as well.
Excellent prix fix menu and wine pairings for a lovely Valentines dinner. Never disappointed at The Essex!
It was really a great experience. Wait staff was remarkable and the food was somehow, even better. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Amazing wait staff and cool ideas for the dishes, good social distance between tables, and super informed design!
Perfect Valentine’s tasting menu with wine pairings!!
