The English Inn - Fish Creek
French onion soup and rib eye steak were excellent
This is the second time we’ve visited for Thanksgiving — we’ll be back again next year! Everything about the experience was perfect!
Our Thanksgiving buffet dinner was delicious - except there was a pretty big piece rod bone (and half an inch in each direction) in my husband’s stuffing. It spoiled his appetite and he didn’t but a few bites after that. Server was apologetic and said she would take something off of his dinner but never did. We still love this place and would go back - but that was pretty bogus!
Wonderful Thanksgiving buffet, everything you could want, topped off by the fun and delicious chocolate fountain- great for the children as well as adults. Our server was attentive- our water glasses and coffee always full. I noticed she offered to get the couple next to us something from the buffet as they were seniors with some mobility issues. Such a nice gesture. Highly recommend!
We were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the place was inside. It's very quiet and beautifully decorated for the holidays. the chairs were comfortable and our waitress did a very good job serving us. She asked if we wanted a window view or warmth by the fireplace which was nice of her to think of. Nothing came out late and the food was some of the best we had. If you plan on going there keep in mind that it's pricey. Our total bill was in the 3 digits for our meals and one drink each but you get what you pay for. Our night out was special and The English Inn made it special with great food and awesome ambiance.
We stopped at the English Inn for a nice dinner on our honeymoon. The food was amazing, my husband absolutely loved the rib eye. The endless bread they served was always warm and so delicious. Our waitress was amazing. I wish I could remember her name to properly thank her. She was very friendly and personable. I would recommend the English Inn to anyone looking for a nice place to dine.
This is my favorite restaurant in Door Co! My girlfriend had her wedding there 2 years ago and this was my first time back since that day. Food was excellent!! It's my goal to fine dine here whenever I make it back to Door Co! Keep up the good work!!
The food selection was very nice with a variety of Wellington dishes (the beef Wellington was great), some good steaks, etc.
The desserts were very good and home made.
The decor and ambiance was very unique with cute decorations and landscaping outside. The inside decor was a little dated.
Overall, a nice meal but a little expensive for the value.
Beautiful setting. The service was good and the food was excellent.
Steak was below average, price was ridiculous for the quality of the meal
We had a reservation for weeks and were not seated until much later. We waited a very long time at the bar to have a drink order taken and then had to wait for an old fashioned with no detectable brandy and had to ask for it to be added. The waitress was sufficient but lacked any personality. The seasoning on my husband’s halibut was minimal and bland. My shrimp dinner was good but not outstanding.
we had a 7 :15 pm reservation that was booked about a month in advance for a 4 top...upon arrival the hostess indicated they were running behind. we waited almost 40 minutes for out table after our confirmed reservation time. it is not good when a restaurant overbooks their tables and treats walk ins the same way as reserved tables. The food was good but the wait was unacceptable. go next door to alexanders...they will treat you better.
It took 45 minutes for us to be seated and after we were seated nobody even greeted our table which resulted in us getting up and leaving. I reached out to the establishment and they couldn't even be bothered to respond to me. Horrible business with even worse customer service. They have forgotten the customer pays them.
Wait time wasn't too bad. They seated us at a table that seemed like it was just placed in the middle of the walk way. Waiters kept bumping into our chairs as they tried to squeeze by. I asked for a different table. When my mother asked the market price for the lobster, the waitress said she didn't know and didn't offer to find out, until my mother said she couldn't order until she knew. I mean if it was very expensive, then she would choose something else. It took awhile for our food. The beef wellington was good, but could be a little bit bigger for the price. The meal was good, especially the baked French onion soup. I had it before, and it's the best I've ever had! Checking out was a little chaotic. Our waitress said she had to deliver drinks, so we could go up to the register and pay. We stood there and no one offered to help, so we asked the hostess and she said she was overwhelmed, and we could tell she was frazzled, so finally a nice male waiter rang up our bill.
The food here is excellent! Disappointed in their reservation process, however. We were seated 45 minutes after our reservation time, while groups without reservations continued to be seated. Additionally there was only one bartender to take care of everyone waiting for their late reservation. Poorly managed for a crowd.
Terrible food, terrible service, temp in restaurant was easily 90 degrees. Just an awful experience
We have been dining at the English Inn now for 15 years. We always have the Beef Wellington with French Onion Soup, and sometimes we have dessert. The food, and the service is always excellent, but with this you the price of the experience is there too...enjoy!!!
Although we had reservations, we had to wait a 1/2 hour for a table. Waited another 20 minutes for a waitstaff then 45 for food. Had to send the food back because it was cold. Yes, it was a busy weekend but they need to turn off the outside "immediate seating" light when things are out of hand. Disappointed.
It was Pumpkin Festival weekend. We arrived just before 6:30 having made a 6:30 reservation for 2 people. It was chaotic, with at least 15 people, most of whom had reservations, waiting by the host desk. No host/hostess anywhere in sight. A host finally showed up, said he had tables but somehow all these people were waiting.
We finally got seated, ordered dinner, which by an ad we saw in a current paper that day , was supposed to include a lobster tail when you ordered 2 entrees. Waitress said that wasn’t in effect anymore but would bring one for us anyway. Our entrees arrived, no lobster tail was included. Plus our food was not hot when served! Some of it was actually cold.
The waitress breezed by at some point and asked the couple next to us how everything was. They responded all was ok and in a flash she was gone, never asked us and we didn’t see her again until the meal was well over.
I would not recommend this restaurant, we were rushed through dinner, in and out within 1 hour for a Saturday night dinner. Very disappointed.
We had Hair in our meal, it was freezing cold where you had to use blankets to stay warm indoors.
I was very disappointed. I went 2 years ago and had an amazing experience. This past week, we kept finding small bones in our fish, were charged additional money for having cheese on our french onion soup and were not told that ahead of time. Our waitress never asked if we wanted drink refills or even came around with a water refill. Very poor service and customer quality.
My husband and I wanted a nice meal out to celebrate our birthdays. We had a great seat right next to the fireplace and enjoyed the atmosphere but the food was not up to par. We both ordered the pistachio crusted halibut which was rubbery and bland. When the fish arrived you could tell it was not fresh, it was in a perfect square patty. We ordered the tiramisu for dessert, which had frosting on the top and very far from what tiramisu is supposed to be. But we understand this is not an Italian restaurant. We were disappointed with our meal to say the least. I had family members dine at The English Inn that same night and they agreed that the food is not what it used to be. We will be picking a different restaurant the next time we visit.
Always a stop for us when we’re in door county. Beef Wellington was a little thin and small this time. Only 6oz. Needs to be around 8-10 and thicker. It was before on my visit last year.
Nice place as far as looks, vibe. Outdoor area looked amazing but it was a bit chilly to be outdoors. I ordered the special - salmon Wellington - my first mistake. Not wonderful and not worth $40. I can say our server was excellent, but other than that, I’d never go back. I’m still kicking myself as I know we could’ve had a much better meal at a much lower price. Lesson learned.
Everyone enjoyed their food. Prime rib was delicious.
Lobster tails were tender and tasty.
Went to all you can eat fish fry on Friday. Excellent variety of fish for price. I tried almost all the choices available except the catfish, they were all very well prepared and fresh tasting. Service was excellent too.
Food was awesome ,this was our second time there and it did not disappoint . Prime Rib was excellent . Will be back
We love the English Inn, always great food, fun atmosphere, great service. Highly recommend !
Prime rib was average but clam chowder soup and perch were excellent as well as the carrots. We would eat there again.
Always good food and service.
We loved the food, our outdoor table with cozy blankets and our server was very nice. Can’t wait to go back again
The food is not good, especially for the price. I would not encourage anyone to come here.
This was our first time there. It was good food and great service.
Enjoyed this restaurant a great dining experience
Love English Inn but the prime rib was scrappy and tough this time. Several mistakes on order when it came. Patio was beautiful!
Possibly the worst food we ever ordered at a restaurant! We brought some friends to the English Inn thinking we would be in for a treat, but we were wrong! The tasteless burger was burnt and sent back. The second one no better. The liver was tough and bland. The whitefish was dried out. The shrimp was tasteless. We've had better food at fast-food restaurants. Two other couples sat down next our table and asked about the food. We were honest and they left before the waiter arrived. That was the best part of the evening. Would not return or recommend the English Inn to others.
Truely disapointed!
Service seemed to fine up to the point we received the main course. Then we were forgotten about. We were suppose to receive an extra piece of lobster as a special, which we did not receive until a lot later. The waiter never came back to asks us how our food was. It was about a half hour to 40 minutes before he came back. That is when we asked about the lobster and he finally went and had the kitchen make for us. Our waiter was number 32, Gerald. We had him last year and he did a fine job. The manager stopped by our table after this and apologized about the lobster. Nothing was offered for the bad service we received after the main course was delivered. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary meal there and left very disappointed. Not sure if we will ever go back to this place, after this bad experience. The place we stayed at, knew we came back very upset and I am sure they will not suggest their guest to visit your restaurant.
My husband and I ate dinner sitting outdoors at a gas lit table. It was a very beautiful and romantic setting for our anniversary dinner. Plus the food was outstanding.
Lovely supper club in Fish Creek. Overall my dinner was good though my steak was a little over done and a little tough for a beef tenderloin.
Excellent food and wonderful service from the friendly staff. I have dined here before and have always enjoyed a pleasant experience.
