The Empire at 138
138 S. Washington St., is an everyday hub of activity to eat, drink and congregate over real wholesome food and ingredients.
Part local neighborhood hangout, part fine dining restaurant, we develop heirloom recipes based on family and friends' favorites, using as many locally raised and farmed, organic, and hormone free products as are in season and meet our quality standards.
Menus change regularly based on seasonal availability. We offer fine dining, cocktails, wines, interesting beers, and signature coffee.
Pan seared, served over wild grains with vegetables topped with a creamy lobster sauce
Tender chicken breast sautéed in a lemon, garlic butter sauce with capers. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables
Fresh seafood pureed in a creamy lobster base topped with fresh herbs
The food was mediocre and overpriced considering the portion sizes. I have been disappointed with my dining experience the last few times I have been there. Our server was very good, but the service was very slow-expect dinner to take a couple of hours.
Long wait for food. Staff nice but you could tell they were very busy running around trying to get everybody their items to their tables And my food was OK. We have been there a few other times and it was much better but still probably one of the nicest places in Tiffin,OH
Great service and delicious meal. Enjoyed the pianist who played during the evening!
Food was good, service was great. Sharon was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Tried new things and everything we tried was great.
Unfortunately out of too many items on the menu and the bar.
Food cooked perfectly. Everything came out in a timely manner. Staff was very friendly
Our server was great and nice, but felt like she was gone most of the night. We had a wait time of an hour for our food. I ordered a burger and fries. The burger was cold and the bun was so hard that I couldn’t eat it. The fries were so salty and I wasn’t able to eat them. My husband ordered clams, which had sand in them and clearly weren’t washed. This was the worst experience we’ve had at the Empire, which is disappointing! It was not worth the $80 that we spent.
Everything was good except for the length of time to get our meals.
Started out well but had several communication problems with the waitress, and then there must have been a problem in the kitchen or again waitress/kitchen communication because we waited and waited after the salads for our entrees. We finally had to ask another waitress what the holdup was. It would have been much better had our waitress just told us there was a problem. Avoiding us and not explaining was a bit disappointing. Only one or our party of 4 was disappointed with their entrée of scallops, saying it was way too salty, she couldn't eat the last one.
We have been to the Empire a few times before and it never disappoints! Food is always great and the service is fantastic. Nice to have such a high class restaurant in the area!
Very nice place. Best place in Tiffin…. Great food. Great date place.
All 4 if our dinners were great. Appetizers consumed immediately.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. I will definitely be coming back.
I requested for medium well steak. The server recommended for medium which I agreed with her. However, We received well-done steak and I felt it was grilled to much. I like the place and the distancing of tables which is good due to this pandemic.
Always enjoyable! Great food! Great Service! Great atmosphere!
Had family in from out of state. Was a nice evening. Thank you
Great atmosphere and the drinks were tasty. My food was good but my friend had cold mashed potatoes and the carrots were hard. The service was very slow, with the exception of getting our water filled. That person was on it and we always had fresh cold water. The slow service could have been due to a Christmas party going on at the same time so I would try the restaurant again.
We enjoyed the ambiance, food and live music. It was helpful to check out the menu online.
Had a lovely evening at The Empire in Tiffin. Atmosphere with those exposed bricks and music is lovely. Server was attentive, and we enjoyed a reasonably priced excellent bottle of wine. All our food was great, and when my fish was a little underdone ( for me ) server and kitchen took care of it very quickly. Enjoyed every aspect of the dinner out.
Another wonderful dining experience
Absolutely love this place
Service was great. Dinner food was disappointing, appetizer however was amazing. They may have been experiencing staff shortages because the restaurant did not appear busy to us and it took us 1 hour and 45 minutes for 2 people and by the time we finally got our dinners, we really just wanted to ask for boxes and go home.
Food was good depending on what we ordered, salmon poor, pork excellent, hamburger poor.
Perfect night At Empire. Food was spectacular piano music in the back ground was icing on the cake.
Thank You Sam And staff.
We went here to celebrate an anniversary. The food was excellent--I had halibut and my wife had chicken piccata. The service was very, very good and the room was beautiful and quiet. I would definitely come again.
Very nice dinner and atmosphere. I would recommend this place.
Very good food and service. One of the best dining venues in Tiffin.
We have eaten at the Empire since they have opened for business, normally we use this for our go to place for their fillet de beef. But I must admit that the sirloin is also a favorite of mine.
The decor is tasteful, clean and modern. When the piano player is playing, the noise level is almost too loud for general conversations. We normally attend at other times to avoid this issue. The food is excellent quality, and as most businesses after Covid there are shortages of several products, so the menu adjusts as needed to prevent shortages.
My Wife and I attend whenever we want to enjoy a good meal, I do not personally care about prices. I want quality food prepared fresh, not frozen and NOT microwaved, this is why I love the Empire. We will continue to enjoy them in the future.
Food was excellent, waitress was friendly, they kept your water glasses full, and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting.
Great duck flatbread. $14 small Martinis were a bit overpriced.
Fine dining in a small town. An easy walk to the restored Ritz movie palace. Free parking at nearby city lots. Crab cake appetizer was very good, as was the salmon. Small but quality selection of wines by the glass.
Dinner last night at The Empire was absolutely delicious!!!
Chicken Piccata and Pork Medallions were beyond wonderful. Our waitress Lauren was very attentive.
Music was a bit loud for my taste and the chairs are unfortunately not very comfortable.
We got take out once and I must say food in restaurant MUCH better than carryout.
We were there celebrating a birthday, but no one asked. I went to the bathroom and the waitress had handed my boyfriend
The chairs are quite uncomfortable, esp. for someone with back issues. They really should be replaced. Other than that, the dining experience was outstanding, as always. I always recommend The Empire at 138 to out-of-town friends, and it's our go-to place for special occasions.
A beautiful downtown location with an upscale ambience. Service was prompt and the food was delicious.
The Empire is a very classy establishment that maintains a minimalistic ambiance, while still delivering an atmosphere that is inviting gets you talking. The service was wonderful, and I appreciate that the restaurant has updated technology to where their waiters/waitresses have devices where you can pay right at the table; I appreciate the convenience. The food was not too bad. Part of me wonders if the fact that our reservation was at 8pm that it may have affected the way in which it was prepared, but I am not sure. The crab cakes were absolutely amazing I will order them again. The french onion wasn't anything to brag about, it was a piece of bread, some broth and a few onions (again, end of the night so who knows if that's what the soup is normally like)...i hope not because the soup was sad for the over $8 I paid for it.
Shrimp Scampi, same situation. Shrimp tasted great, the plate itself as a whole just did not impress me with flavor. I would recommended the Empire look into changing the recipe for this one; it's missing something to really make it pop. The truffle fries...buy them. They may just be fries with some seasoning and dressed up fancy but they are some of the best fries you can get in town.
Was it everything I hoped it would be?! No. Do I still plan on giving it another shot?! Yes. I would like to eat at an earlier time, and I would like to try a couple other plates before I make as true final decisions but as of now, I do recommend visiting the Empire. Just don't go late and and be cautious about the french onion and shrimp scampi. Good luck food seekers!
The food was excellent. GREAT environment! New options on the menu for fall.
Kathy and I were seated in the back room ( very appreciated as it is so beautiful and peaceful ) all the guests were socially distanced and the noise level was such that you could talk softly and be heard with no problem. There was a beautiful young couple celebrating their 9 th anniversary ( we are on # 28) and the staff were very respectful and kind to them. My wife was so relaxed after an extra hard week of work that she ate her whole meal of sirloin that she says was prepared perfectly. I went with my “go to “dish of Salmon with tomato chutney over risotto and squash ribbons and it was as always perfect. Once again I am blown away at this Tiffin gem! Thank you! If you want to dine like in the big city this is the place to go for sure!
Great atmosphere with great food and service. Great place for a special meal with that special someone.
Had a wonderful Birthday dinner with my wife and granddaughter. Empire staff was excellent.
