   Unfortunately our reserved table wasn’t available when we arrived - best to book the day before as they don’t check on the day. The staff however were wonderful and found us somewhere else to sit whilst waiting. The food was very good with vegan options. Sitting out on the terrace in the sun was lovely although beware they do let people smoke just off the deck. Highly recommended for a relaxing bite and drink.

   Service very slow, food not very good, no extras offered as normal even though other tables were. Dirty glasses not cleared and gravy pot left on table. Had to ask for cutlery when desserts arrived. Also, lots of dirty and uncleared tables around. Clearly couldn’t cope with the amount of diners. Need to either get more staff or limit number of diners! Not their usual standard…very disappointed!

   Such a fabulous experience to die in here at this wonderful pub with incredible staff. Knowledge and attentiveness from the staff was first class. Applause also to the kitchen. Reasonable prices for excellent food. Will definitely visit again soon. Worth the 30 mile journey.

   Very slow service of drinks and food, waitress was very good though. Food was poor standard, expected a lot better with nice small menu choice unfortunately this didn’t help the kitchen, we had rock hard sourdough toast you couldn’t even cut with scrambled egg or avocado on top, Full breakfast was dried out like it had been kept under a heat lamp before serving. Unfortunately won’t be returning

   The Embankment is situated in a lovely position. When we entered the ambience was very welcoming and warm. Our table was lovely and spacious. The 12oz steak was lovely and cooked just as requested (medium). The other three diners ordered the burger. The bun was very cold and crumbly; the burger itself was good. The other two diners ordered the sweet potato and chickpea curry. (Extremely disappointing!) The chickpeas were tiny and hard as rock, the rest of the dish was “passable” - both diners were not feeling great after they ate this dish. We did mention the issue we had with the curry and the waitress offered teas and coffees on the house and something else to eat. (We asked for hand cut chips) I am not sure we will be returning back to eat in a rush! There is a lot to be improved.

    Food was very disappointing. Soup was lukewarm. Ciabatta so dry it was inedible.
