Inspired by History:
In 1591 the estate played host to the Elvetham Entertainment. Arranged for Queen Elizabeth I, the four-day spectacle was one of the most exciting and lavish events of her reign.

Our Sylvanus Restaurant is named after one of the mythological creatures from the entertainments grand water pageant, Silvanus, the Roman god of woods, wildlands and pastures. Introducing himself as a devoted servant of Queen Elizabeth, his performance was designed to praise the queens wise leadership over her land based commanders and naval captains during the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588.

Today our Sylvanus Restaurant is a nod towards that memorable performance almost 500 years ago in a hope to keep the tale of that event alive in the history of the English monarchy.

This elegant hotel offer a very good afternoon tea. This is the best and we would not hesitate to return. Sandwiches were really fresh, scone warm and delicious. Absolutely loved celebrating our anniversary where a surprise plate was severed up

Wonderful restaurant and hotel attached. The Elvetham holds a very special place in our heart, even if it didn't we would still come back! Excellent food, beautiful views across the garden in a stunning Manor House steeped in history! Definitely worth a visit! The food is delicious and worth every penny, every mouthful is full of flavour and the restaurant team are all really lovely and friendly. We've had a few different meals from The Elvetham and the food was excellent every time! Can't go wrong!

Excellent afternoon tea, at a reasonable price compared to everywhere else at the moment. The restaurant has a lovely view of the grounds, and is well laid out. Service was fine for us, as we were the only ones in for the majority of our session.

Terrible service, staff undertrained. Even got a phone call from reception, whilst sat at the table, to say don’t bother coming in we’ve over booked!

The place seemed more a conference centre than a hotel, stacks of chairs seemed to be in every room. The actually place was beautiful, just needs to be on the right hands to bring the per potential out. Food was super great portions and super taste. The staff needed a lot more guidance, so it was ok for our meal, if you want to impress then not the right place to go until they sort out all the team.
