Set in the picturesque village of Abbots Ripton with access to beautiful walks on the local estate, The Elm has everything you want from your perfect countryside pub; A glorious garden, a roaring fire, comfortable rooms, delicious food and a wide selection of drinks.

The Grade II-listed building was built, as an open hall, in the late 15th Century to offer hospitality to the drovers bringing cattle down from Scotland (along the Bullock Road) to the market at St.Ives. It was later altered with the insertion of a brick chimney in the early 17th century. The Fellowes family, that own and run the pub, came to the area around the same time the pub got its chimney...

Have not been to the Elm for 5 years. We had an excellent late Sunday lunch. Service was excellent and good of good quality .

A nice enough plaxe, staff couldn’t do enough for you but the food was pricey and the wine price versus the quality not justified either. I think to justify a £120 all in bill with an “optional” £10 surcharge but that’s hardly ever removed let’s be honest by clients, but in this case that was fairly earned, then is think carefully before you choose here.

I have been to the Elm many times and always had lovely food but on Fathers Day the food was poor, whilst I appreciated they can’t cook a roast to order, I didn’t want it tasting like aunt Betty frozen food and they Yorkshire pudding like the sole of my shoe, beef was very fatty, I had more fat than meat. Service was good though and my partner had fish and that was nice.
