This is a quiet restaurant ideal for a friendly get together. Very good food.
The Ellington was a very pleasant surprise. My cousin and I have now decided it will be our go to meeting place especially for an early brunch. The staff was very attentive and the food good. Nothing elaborate but well done. My cousin commented on how nice and clean the Ladies Room was.
Horrific service, mold in the water bottle, mediocre food
Could have been a bit cleaner
The happy hour oysters were great, but both the fish and chips in the Fish and Chips were undercooked. Our waitress was pretty helpful with coming up with a tasty mocktail.
I’ve been coming to Ellington since it opened. It’s a “go to”for my family but in the past 4 or 5 months the service has gone from slow to bad. For example we have ordered appetizers the last three times we were there. They have forgotten them each time and then they charged us for it. If they actually do remember them they will serve it with the entrees. Not to mention there has been an extensive wait in getting our food. It would be great while we were waiting to be offered another drink, but they failed to do that as well. Unfortunately, we have had the same waiter each time. He’s really bad. He has screwed up our bill multiple times. I hate to stop coming here but were getting better options in the neighborhood all the time. Bring back the old waiters please!
Food and service were very good. Nice relaxing atmosphere inside the place as well.
Love The Ellington. Our Go-to pub. The mac and cheese is outstanding, due to the creaminess and the truffle oil. Friendly helpful staff, and good homey food choices.
So glad we live close by.
How nice to find a friendly, affordable neighborhood place! Simple “pub” menu offered great options and happy hour drink prices. Very comfortable and welcoming with attentive service from staff. If you are in the St John the Divine/Columbia hood, go grab a bite.
Our thanksgiving meal was excellent! Attentive service, wonderful food, and a great atmosphere. Just what we were looking for.
We signed on for the full Thanksgiving menu, without any prior knowledge of The Ellington. It's a pub with sports on big tv's and has a very casual atmosphere. The regular menu is what you'd expect from a pub, but I can only review the meal we had - Thanksgiving. We started with crab cakes, nicely seasoned and with a spicy sauce. The main course was The Works - turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, Brussels sprouts, gravy. And YUM! Everything was well-prepared and delicious. (And enough leftovers to have another meal the following night. Just like Mom's!) For dessert, there was tiramisu or pumpkin pie, both okay. Service was friendly. A good time was had by all.
I made a reservation but when I arrived on time they seated us at a cramped table looking straight at the Men’s Room Door. The MGR was very apologetic and they took good care of us.
This place is great for lunch but dinner was so bland and in interesting
Went here for brunch as it's right in my neighborhood, their brunch was one of the most affordable options in the area. Everything was delicious, ingredients seemed high quality, and the dining room was comfortable but thoughtfully decorated. Would definitely go again!
We like The Ellington a lot as an easy neighborhood go to place that is very reasonable with good, reliable food. While it can get moderately noisy, the tables are far apart so that you have plenty of privacy.
Amazing food, fun environment and fantastic service!
Quaint place for a brunch or a tete a tete. The menu and food quality are solid. Nice also that the place has a bar to serve drinks as good complements to the brunch offerings.
Wonderful food. Wonderful service.
We had a good time and will return!
Great neighborhood place. A decent and solid brunch menu.
Try the spicy margarita .
We had been for brunch (and really enjoyed) and wanted to try it for dinner - glad we did! We had some great food (tried several of the appetizers including the grilled cheese bites and dumplings), salads and all were good. Also had the salmon entree, which was delicious. It is a casual setting with friendly service; outdoor tables too if the weather cooperates.
We found The Ellington to be very accommodating to our needs as a large group. They were able to provide us with individual checks and a comfortable table.
Small, but mighty! Everything was just right for a mini birthday celebration.I especially enjoyed the Turkey burger with sweet potato fries. Salads were all delightful. Enjoy!
The best Cobb salad ever! Great service and nice atmosphere.
The staff was very kind and the food was delicious! Each meal was presented in a way that made it a feast for the eyes as well. We were all very happy!
Enjoyed our time there. Felt a little guilty getting a table just for drinks. Felt that the waitress was disappointed that we did not have dinner and the bill was not larger. But maybe just my imagination. She was pleasant inn the beginning, though.
A very solid dining experience every time.
The Ellington was a wonderful place to catch the game- decent bar food & wine, big tv’s, and great table service. If you’d like to be warm and comfortable while you eat, however, you may run into the manager who keeps the AC on full blast and the door wide open, to seem “more inviting,” despite multiple complaints from patrons already inside.
Service was great. Food was... okay.
The shepherds pie and toasted Brussels sprouts were fabulous!
Not our first visit and won't be our last.
Food is good, portions generous, help is outstanding!
much prefer dinner here. went for a birthday brunch on Sunday. None of us (7 ppl) were loving the food, but service and atmosphere were great. I still would recommend. People are super nice here and its a great neighborhood spot
Great place, great food, great neighborhood restaurant.
Love this place! They have amazing food and the aesthetic is awesome.
The service was terrible, the table was sticky, the whole thing was bad. It wasn't crowded, and we ordered two brunch dishes which took a very long time to arrive. When did they, they were both incorrect and had to be re-made, which took another very long while. There are a million better places for a casual family brunch on the Upper West Side that I would recommend above the Ellington. It wasn't good.
Fun neighborhood bar and grill with a friendly and professional staff. Draft beer selection is good and priced right. We had burgers, which were fine. I ordered mine rare and it was medium so I sent it back and they were very accommodating. I think the real problem with doneness comes from the meat being more like a meatloaf so it doesn’t cook to rare very well. I really wish their burgers were loosely packed and unseasoned like a good burger should be. Fries were excellent and the bun was warm, which it wasn’t the last time. I may need to change my order next time unless they address the burger composition. The goat cheese, prosciutto and arugula salad is fabulous!
Convenient corner pub--service is caring and efficient, food and drinks just okay.
clean and airy, well trained happy staff....good food and good vibes...
This place is just ok. I picked it for the location and the reviews. The service was very good but my huevos rancheros had overdone eggs and tortilla and not enough flavor.
