The Elkridge Furnace Inn Ratings and Reviews
Imaginative foods - ordinary ingredients blended to create an extraordinary taste experience. This restaurant ever disappoints and provides many options for discriminating diners - we’ll done!!
Fantastic grand old inn. Good was amazing and the service was outstanding. This is a rare gem in an unexpected neighborhood.
From appetizers, salad, to main meal, everything was delicious. Service impeccable, very friendly and welcoming staff. This was a birthday dinner for my mother in law and was given a lovely surprise by the restaurant.
We have celebrated our anniversary at Elkridge Furnace several times and enjoyed each one. Great food and service. Fairly quiet, but cannot absorb a person speaking too loud.
This is a very cool location with an upscale restaurant. Great atmosphere and an interesting clientele. Outstanding wine selection and great service.
The acoustics mean that you can hear the conversations at most of the tables int he room, so keep that in mind.
Outstanding wine list, and a great menu. Only reason this doesn't get a 5 overall is that the duck breast was tough. Duck can be tender, if cooked right, but this was cut too thick for searing, leaving it rare, rather than on the edge of rare/MR in the middle.
I was really looking forward to going back to this restaurant. It had been about four years since my last visit. The ambience is as charming as i remember. Unfortunately, the food did not match my memory. The Caesar Salad was strange with hardboiled eggs and an odd dressing. It was disappointing. I had the Seafood Risotto. Both the seafood and risotto were overcooked. Another disappointment. At $38, I expected higher quality seafood and a much better dish overall. The best part of the meal was the Caramel Ice Cream that I had for dessert!
The entire experience was really wonderful in this historic home, with quaint little rooms and fireplaces in each room. We were there for the Sunday brunch menu and everything was delicious! I can't wait to go back to dinner one day!
Fabulous brunch! French toast was outstanding! Highly recommend!
We've hosted our daughters wedding here, celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed a lovely brunch! Everything is excellent!
This place is a hidden gem. I always receive great service and wonderful food. The chef frequents the dining area and answers any questions you may have about the menu.
Note: We did not stay to dine, so the ratings required to put in to write this review are inaccurate because we never got to taste the food. We had issues at the outset just ordering wine. First, the restaurant was out of the first wine we selected from the wine list. This we learned this from the waiter after a long wait. We ordered another wine by name and number from the wine list. Again, a long delay before the waiter returned and he had the wrong wine. When questioned, he had to go check why. After a wait, he said he was told the wine list had not been updated to match the computer. The name and type of wine did not give him a clue he should not have brought the bottle to the table, nor was it listed anywhere in the wine menu. The issues with the wine and the fact we had not ordered food after over 30 minutes, we began to doubt whether this restaurant could handle my wife’s necessary gluten free requirements. We explained the stress she felt as a result, and departed without ordering our meals.
Don't get me wrong, this place is worth going back to, because the food was excellent in our previous visit, but I guess we made the mistake of going on Thanksgiving day. We waited for over half an hour after making it to our 6pm reservation on time. There were other unhappy customers waiting at the lounge too. We got the braised short ribs and rock fish for entree, and while it was ok, it was nothing compared to the heavenly Delmonico steak we had in our previous visit, and I attributed this mediocrity to the mass production that was required for such a busy evening. Our waiter was kind, but you could tell he was simply too busy to be attentive, and our requests for small items were forgotten every time. We tipped generously only because we liked the place and we wanted to remember the experience in a positive light.
If the Elkridge Furnace Inn is really into offering fine food of the highest quality that I know they are capable of, please stop offering set course menus for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Very disappointing. Love the ambiance. The food was actually very good.
Unfortunately everything arrived cold. Service was slow. It took 1 hour and 35 minutes for our first appetizer. Then another 20 for the next. After that we received our rolls. Had to ask twice for a wine refill.
Unfortunately it made the Thanksgiving dinner we looked forward to disappointing.
It was a memorable Thanksgiving meal. We would definitely do it again!
As always, the Furnace Inn never disappoints. Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner choices. I chose the rockfish with risotto. The risotto was so wonderfully creamy and the rockfish melted in my mouth. I also enjoyed the fresh baked rolls with sun dried tomatoes. Adding the home made cranberry relish with butter to the roll was delicious. Thank you again Tim for another unforgettable Thanksgiving.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Inn. I had never been there but had heard from friends that it was very good.
It was great from the beginning to the end.
Any one interested should look up the history of this Inn. It is very interesting.
I will definitely return and do recommend this Inn to everyone,
Went for Thanksgiving. It is a beautiful old mansion. It was pretty crowded and we had to wait for long periods of time for our server to get back to us. He seemed overwhelmed. However, the mansion and quality of food was good overall. It's probably better service on a regular night without so many people there!
We went to the Elkridge Furnace Inn for Thanksgiving. The food was excellent and the service impeccable. We love this place!
the building itself is from another era . a landmark from the past creates an atmosphere from a storybook. this sets up the interesting and quite tasty selection of food you may choose from. what ever you order from soups or salads are designed to enhance the primo main dish you choose and make the entire meal superb and when you leave the memory goes with you. the staff is to be commended for their timing expertise and knowledge and compliment the chefs effort to please. if you haven't dined here you and your guest will have the knowledge that you found a special place to retreat and enjoy and talk about to others .with confidence i say go and enjoy.
I've been planning to go to the Inn for years and finally made it for dinner. Nice ambiance and great food.
Wonderful waiter and lovely ambience. The soup was lovely. But it was all downhill after that. The lamb was tough and fatty. We waited a long time for the disappointing bread pudding. Clearly it was prepared months ago and was reheated. The coffee is good and so is the wine. It will be a long time before we return.
My Uncle and I had a wonderful brunch and the menu offered a great selection on food and drinks. Loved our experience!
Excellent food and service. Great place for a date night or special occasion.
We very much enjoyed the intimate space in such a historic building. The owner was pleasant a conversationalist appropriate for the mood. The food was very good, not over-sized and reasonably priced for such quality. Good for groups of 2 or 4. Highly recommend.
The Elkridge Furnace Inn is our go-to restaurant for special occasions. We love that they have a gluten-free menu with options and that they grow many of their vegetables on site. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Although the menu can quite pricey you definitely get the value for your money.
We had a wonderful experience here before. This time, the brunch breads were stale, one of the entree's served at room temperature, and my favorite appetizer was half size of what it used to be. The service was very nice as always.
Lovely place! We got married here, so it seemed like the perfect place for our 5 year anniversary. We were not disappointed! Wonderful food, great service. Just a lovely evening and we've been rationing the macarons we took home for the last two days, which was an extra fun part. :)
Delightful place, very busy. Attentive service. Upstairs room was somewhat cramped and warm (fire place adjacent). Delicious lamb shank and harvest veggies. Dessert outstanding. Red Côte du Rhine was superb. Overall wonderfull experience! Just a bit long (2 1/2 hours).
The food was spectacular and the service was great. Our server gave lots of interesting information about the restaurant and described the food well. Everything was made in house and delicious. Although a little pricey, it was certainly worth it. Great for special occasions.
Since our very first visit, the staff here always make us feel welcome and pampered.
As always, our dinner was outstanding! Hilary and Jake were awesome-excellent service! Chef Daniel’s dishes were so delicious and the wine he chose for us was perfect! Looking forward to our next dinner there!
This is our favorite holiday and special occasion restaurant. We've never had a bad meal here. The staff are very friendly and professional. Highly recommended!
Excellent food in a quirky, renovated 1744 building--unusual for the land of strip malls that surrounds it. Perfect for a date night/special occasion!
