The Elkridge Furnace Inn Ratings and Reviews
We are new to the area and have left behind favorite restaurants for dining. The Elkridge Furnace Inn is wonderful. We knew the moment we entered, the surroundings, the service and the food were perfect. Our new favorite restaurant for a quiet dinner or get together with new friends.
Loved the new menu choices! Service was wonderful and attentive. We stated witht the pork pie and rabbit salad as appitzers. The pie crust was flakey and tastey. My only criticism is that there was not enough filling to crust but otherwise it was very good. The rabbit salad was awesome and such a different menu choice. It was a warm potatoe salad with roulettes of rabbit. For entres we had the game hen and the veal. Both were very tasty and large portions. We will definitely be back to try some of the other options.
Overall, good experience. Food very tasty. Price of meals a little costly but at least when I walk away for my $100 for two people I was not upset. Loved sitting by fireplace. Very cozy!
We had a very pleasant evening, a warm table near the fireplace. The food was fabulous. The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The chef came to our table twice, making an excellent recommendation of a wine to accompany our meal.
Exceeded our expectations in every way. Utter delight.
Had tenderloin tips and seafood St Jacques. Both were exceptional French cuisine/sauces out of this world!
Our entire experience at the Furnace Inn was incredible. Brian, our waiter, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made wonderful recommendations. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was perfect. We simply cannot recommend the restaurant enthusiastically enough.
Another fantastic meal at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. I've been here (3) times now, and each time has been great. If you want a more romantic setting, ask to be seated near a fireplace!
It is so difficult to find a quiet restaurant that is condusive to having a conversation. Elkridge Furnice Inn is one of those rare finds. Not only was it quiet but it was cozy and warm on a cold evening. The food was very good and the chef even made an appearance at our table. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Loved the food, but most of all the service and personable staff was extraordinary! Our waiter was entertaining and made all of the guests feel as though he was very interested in customizing our evening to ensure that it was above any expectations. The Chief visited the table to find how we liked our meal. His Daughter made the pastries, and he was right that they were unique and delicious. Thank you to everyone at the Elkridge Furnace Inn!
The restaurant is located not far from BWI, but nevertheless a quite remote place. The food is on the expensive side but quite delicious and worth it for a family occasion or the right client to impress. The service is outstanding - you get the right level of attention. Overall, a great experience. I will be back.
Celebrated Christmas with friends. The service was amazing. The food was awesome. The sommelier was very helpful. It's a little pricey but for a special occasion it's an excellent place to dine. The ambiance and the place itself is beautiful
The meal I had was delicious but a bit skimpy. I would have liked the portions to be just a little bit more generous.
Disabled access was essentially non-existent. Navigation in and out was difficult. I am disabled but I managed to get around get around. A few less tables would have made things easier.
Wish the waiter had given us all the menu options in the beginning. Otherwise very good service.
We (2 of the 4) were expecting a bit more holiday/Christmas decorations for the season.
The music from the wedding reception in the tent outside was a bit too loud at times.
I hadn’t been in years but not what I remembered. We were the only people in the restaurant and it took 15 minutes for water and to get our drink order. The salads were good but the meals, not so much. My crab cakes were awful and the risotto with seafood was smothered in oil. Absolutely the worst meal ever. The company, wine and bread were the best things in the menu.
Have always enjoyed the time spent with friends at the Inn. Food, service, and value make the visit well worth it.
Imaginative foods - ordinary ingredients blended to create an extraordinary taste experience. This restaurant ever disappoints and provides many options for discriminating diners - we’ll done!!
Fantastic grand old inn. Good was amazing and the service was outstanding. This is a rare gem in an unexpected neighborhood.
From appetizers, salad, to main meal, everything was delicious. Service impeccable, very friendly and welcoming staff. This was a birthday dinner for my mother in law and was given a lovely surprise by the restaurant.
We have celebrated our anniversary at Elkridge Furnace several times and enjoyed each one. Great food and service. Fairly quiet, but cannot absorb a person speaking too loud.
This is a very cool location with an upscale restaurant. Great atmosphere and an interesting clientele. Outstanding wine selection and great service.
The acoustics mean that you can hear the conversations at most of the tables int he room, so keep that in mind.
Outstanding wine list, and a great menu. Only reason this doesn't get a 5 overall is that the duck breast was tough. Duck can be tender, if cooked right, but this was cut too thick for searing, leaving it rare, rather than on the edge of rare/MR in the middle.
I was really looking forward to going back to this restaurant. It had been about four years since my last visit. The ambience is as charming as i remember. Unfortunately, the food did not match my memory. The Caesar Salad was strange with hardboiled eggs and an odd dressing. It was disappointing. I had the Seafood Risotto. Both the seafood and risotto were overcooked. Another disappointment. At $38, I expected higher quality seafood and a much better dish overall. The best part of the meal was the Caramel Ice Cream that I had for dessert!
The entire experience was really wonderful in this historic home, with quaint little rooms and fireplaces in each room. We were there for the Sunday brunch menu and everything was delicious! I can't wait to go back to dinner one day!
Fabulous brunch! French toast was outstanding! Highly recommend!
We've hosted our daughters wedding here, celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed a lovely brunch! Everything is excellent!
This place is a hidden gem. I always receive great service and wonderful food. The chef frequents the dining area and answers any questions you may have about the menu.
Note: We did not stay to dine, so the ratings required to put in to write this review are inaccurate because we never got to taste the food. We had issues at the outset just ordering wine. First, the restaurant was out of the first wine we selected from the wine list. This we learned this from the waiter after a long wait. We ordered another wine by name and number from the wine list. Again, a long delay before the waiter returned and he had the wrong wine. When questioned, he had to go check why. After a wait, he said he was told the wine list had not been updated to match the computer. The name and type of wine did not give him a clue he should not have brought the bottle to the table, nor was it listed anywhere in the wine menu. The issues with the wine and the fact we had not ordered food after over 30 minutes, we began to doubt whether this restaurant could handle my wife’s necessary gluten free requirements. We explained the stress she felt as a result, and departed without ordering our meals.
Don't get me wrong, this place is worth going back to, because the food was excellent in our previous visit, but I guess we made the mistake of going on Thanksgiving day. We waited for over half an hour after making it to our 6pm reservation on time. There were other unhappy customers waiting at the lounge too. We got the braised short ribs and rock fish for entree, and while it was ok, it was nothing compared to the heavenly Delmonico steak we had in our previous visit, and I attributed this mediocrity to the mass production that was required for such a busy evening. Our waiter was kind, but you could tell he was simply too busy to be attentive, and our requests for small items were forgotten every time. We tipped generously only because we liked the place and we wanted to remember the experience in a positive light.
If the Elkridge Furnace Inn is really into offering fine food of the highest quality that I know they are capable of, please stop offering set course menus for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Very disappointing. Love the ambiance. The food was actually very good.
Unfortunately everything arrived cold. Service was slow. It took 1 hour and 35 minutes for our first appetizer. Then another 20 for the next. After that we received our rolls. Had to ask twice for a wine refill.
Unfortunately it made the Thanksgiving dinner we looked forward to disappointing.
It was a memorable Thanksgiving meal. We would definitely do it again!
As always, the Furnace Inn never disappoints. Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner choices. I chose the rockfish with risotto. The risotto was so wonderfully creamy and the rockfish melted in my mouth. I also enjoyed the fresh baked rolls with sun dried tomatoes. Adding the home made cranberry relish with butter to the roll was delicious. Thank you again Tim for another unforgettable Thanksgiving.
