The Elkridge Furnace Inn
Chef-owned, yard and farm to table, using lots of local sourcing, our complex dishes turn ordinary ingredients into something extraordinary. Seasonal menu and daily specials. Our historic location is part of the adventure!
We serve a fusion of New American and French Inspiration. Our executive chef was trained under the French disciplines which always come out in our stocks, sauces and presentations. Many regional and ethnic cuisines influenced by French cuisine are also reflected on our menu. Our in-House Pastry will add just the right ending to your dining experience.
We love creating special times to share with our friends. We intersect literature, history and geography as story with our food. There is always something new and creative happening. At the Elkridge Furnace Inn and Garden House, “we make Memories”.

Incredible farm to market menu with exceptional service.
The overall brunch meal was nice, but there were a few issues relating to service that prevented this from being a 5 star experience. We were not attended to after being seated for over ten minutes, and then when a water glass was not filled, it took several requests to have someone come back and fill it after 25 minutes. Drinks service from the bar was slow, however the food was excellent.
Delicious food with many options from which to choose, excellent service, lovely setting
We had just gotten married here in Dec. and came back for our Valentine’s Day dinner! This place is so special and the food to die for. The quality of ingredients is truly
Great unique food and service! Definitely coming back!
Reserved a table over a week in advance for Valentine'a Day. Walked in, were told there are no tables available. Long line of people waiting. The staff didn't budge when it came to accommodating for those of us waiting. When someone reserves a table, the restaurant should do their accounting before accepting more reservations. We left and thankfully I had a second reservation at a different restaurant just in case. The experience on Valentines Day was just embarrassing. If you're celebrating an important event, don't count on the Furnace.
Reservation was for 9:00 but did not get seated until closer to 9:45
From the delicious wine, great atmosphere, great staff, and delicious food.
I don’t want to trash the place because I know Valentine’s Day is so unpredictable for the service industry. However, I will offer our experience from the night, both good and bad, for other users. Reservation made 1mo in advance; the place is gorgeous and so historic; showed up on time at 630p; ushered to a small back room sitting area to wait for table; I was hit by the door of the waiting area by two separate waitresses who carelessly and forcefully kicked the door open; no apologies (one commented after I said WTF with, oh this door sticks); seated at 7pm; plenty of variety on the menu; asked for no anchovies on Caesar salad but there was; brought it to attention of the assistant waiter and I sat without a salad for 15 min until waitress came to check on us; we purchased a wine pairing with each course; not only did we not receive all wine pairing, but of the ones we did receive, none came out with the course it was intended to be paired with; while eating our entrees the assistant waiter tried serving us another table’s salads; we sat for 30min after our meal waiting for the waitress to get our check; had to flag her down in the hallway for the check; almost missed our babysitting hardstop; we walked out of the restaurant at 917p from at 630p reservation.
Even given all these crazy experiences, we would give them another try on a not so busy night, but I don’t think we would recommend this place on a holiday or popular date night.
Very nice ambience, perfect lighting, and our service was amazing! Also good food and great wine flight. Was disappointed that it was a very expensive pre fixe menu only, and that I couldn’t get the crab cakes that I love.
The special Valentines menu was not on their website, we were not expecting the price and lack of options, and probably wouldn’t have gone had we known.
The Valentine's Day prixe faire menu was phenomenal. I had a difficult time deciding on what to get, but the Cream of Chesapeake soup, Beet Salad and the Shrimp, Scallop and Lobster St. Jacques were all delicious. My husband ordered the same soup, but got the Mediterranean Salad, and the Rack of Lamb. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal. We both finished off the meal with the Dark Chocolate and Berries Creme Brulee, and we were not disappointed.
My husband & I went for Valentines Day. The parking was far because the 1st lot was full. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The staff wasn’t very knowledgeable of the menu if you have a ?. Took awhile to get a drink. In between each serving of the special menu no one came back to ask if everything was ok or if you needed anything. When asked a ? they said I’ll be right back & never did. The meat trio meant 1 meat was purée. The portion size was a little under for $95 per person. Probably won’t return but the restaurant is beautiful because it’s so old.
The Furnace Inn is a beautiful historic setting, the staff was friendly, service was impeccable, the food was delicious and beautifully presented.
Our meals were great !! Flavor and presentation were amazing. As the gluten free diner, I was totally amazed at how awesome gluten free dining can be. Thank you! The coffee was very strong. The chocolate sorbet was too sweet with the flavor of chocolate being overwhelming.
I have a gluten sensitivity, so sometimes my choices are limited when I go out. I have got to say, their brunch menu was expansive and the foods I got were really satisfying (even the pastries!). I was impressed. My mom also enjoyed her normally digestible foods! Will go again!
Wonderful meal, service and atmosphere! We were celebrating our son's 20th Birthday and everything was perfect. The veal was delicious, the duck and filet were cooked perfectly for my son and husband.
The prices were high for the quality and consistency of the food and service. I was disappointed.
Great food & drink. Memorable eve. Don’t judge the place by the neighborhood. It’s a remarkable restaurant.
Lovely place for brunch.
Good place for an upscale meal with a unique menu. The charcuterie selection is very good and the service is excellent. But expect to pay for all of this.
Everything was Great
This was our 50th wedding anniversary. It was perfect. Great food great service. Thank you very much.
THIS IS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS. WE ALWAYS ENJOY OURSELVES THERE.
Beautiful old inn with white tablecloths and great service. Went with a friend for restaurant week. The Caesar salad was very good; the seafood crepe was a little too heavy to finish.
There is a free parking lot onsite, although the location is a bit off the beaten track.
We always love the food. Very special place and our go to for celebrations. Jake our server was excellent. It’s that time of year to have some wild game. The venison steaks were the best. I had guineafowl with rabbit sausage. Really enjoyed the sausage.
Phenomenal farm to table meal. The first restaurant I've ever visited that had a gluten-free dessert menu. This restaurant goes above and beyond to ensure an outstanding customer experience!
We visited during restaurant week for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious, and service was wonderful.
We were treated like royalty while we waited for our table, and graciously hosted throughout the evening. Outstanding service, unique and delicious food, terrific wine list, and great surroundings. We’ll be back!
Not sure what happened to Elkridge Furnace Inn because the service and food were not nearly as good as my five previous visits. My guest and I were seated in what used to be the former coat room just past the main entrance, so every time new guests arrived, we were hit with a blast of cold winter air. Wait staff were not very professional or attentive. Food was just average, but prices were much higher than average. Too bad, because I used to count on this restaurant for special occasions.
It was a great experience and my wife and I would recommend it just like it was recommended to us! Can't wait for a return visit!
Delicious new menu. My guests raved about the the Wild Boar and Beef Brisket. Superior service with incredible food, a true recipe for total enjoyment.
Our Wednesday luncheon group decided upon the Elkridge Furnace Inn. It was a good decision as it was also Howard County Restaurant Week. All four of us were pleased with our selections. The Manhattan Clam chowder was delicious & served bubbling hot as requested. The calamari was one of the best appetizers while the entrees were equally good. The buckwheat seafood crepes were tasty & filling. The sauteed shrimp was perfectly seasoned. For dessert, we ordered ice cream, a tart and an Irish coffee. This is truly a high end farm to table restaurant.
This is an old favorite that grows many of their own produce on property, awesome accommodating staff, great menu variety, everything is fresh and prepared to order. It’s worth a visit and we’ll be going again soon!
As always the food and service at the Elkridge Furnace Inn was impeccable. It is one of our favorite special occasion restaurants.
It is very nice to have a quiet place to visit with a friend. The food was wonderful as always and Brian took good care of us.
The food and service have never disappointed, and the table/seating arrangement is pleasantly spacious. Despite that, the noise level made conversation difficult. The menu prices have increased to the point that dining here will have to be a very rare treat for us.
