The Ebenezer is downtown Plymouth’s first and only speakeasy, and one of the few in the Metro Detroit area. Hidden in plain view off Fleet Street and nestled in the basement of the former First National Bank of Plymouth (now occupied by The Ledger), its moniker comes from Ebenezer J. Penniman, the first to be appointed president of the bank in 1871. While the tellers, loan officers, and deposit slips are long gone, the former vault still exists as the bar’s private tasting room, equipped with lockers for members and an ambiance reminiscent of the roaring 1920’s mixed in and elegantly spun with today’s vibe that can be felt throughout the entire space. The Ebenezer encompasses over 4,000 square feet with a capacity of 127 serving craft cocktails, wine, craft beer and a small menu of shareable plates.

Such a good spot to go to after dinner and chill. We loved the vibe and the music was great with the DJ. Drinks and service were perfect. Thanks!

We had a wonderful time celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary. It was a nice surprise to have a little gift at the table when we got there and a complimentary cake. The waitress (Marissa- I think I'm remembering her name correctly) was amazing. So friendly and attentive! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Caitlin our server was spot on, attentive, and very friendly. The atmosphere on Jazz Sunday was perfect for us. Great environment, lighting...speakeasy feel just as you would expect, and a great jazz band. Drinks were all 10/10. Great mixologist clearly behind the bar. Beef sliders, 10/10, tuna crisps 8/10, truffle fries 9/10....very was all VERY GOOD. Only thing we did not like were the "Shawarma Bombs..." they were very dry. Even the sauce and slaw doesn't help enough. Decent flavor, just very dry. So that is the only thing I would give a 5 and no reorder again. But overall, great place, great experience, and would definitely go back.

Seating where we were was very uncomfortable, it was extremely loud throughout the place, drinks were extremely expensive, we didn’t stay to eat; the food offered was way overpriced.

It was dead in there. Most of the tables were empty, even though it was hard to get a reservation. Apparently, the whole morning was dead. Nobody showed up and then they had last call at five so we had to go somewhere else. I felt bad for all the staff, but we saw him later at the Irish pub so it was all good. drinks were good. I didn’t have any of those special drinks of the day and we didn’t eat it either.

The food category only got 1 Star because it was closed during time of service. I most definitely will be back on a night when there's no DJ. The Ebenezer is a beautiful speakeasy with tasty drinks.
