7 oz. skirt steak marinated in balsamic vinegar, garlic, Dijon, and fresh rosemary and grilled… with potatoes and vegetable
Great food, great service, great music.
The main food was amazing! Was disappointed with the mashed potatoes though. Also sad nothing said by waitress for birthday or on desert.
Nice to return to an old standby to find the food, atmosphere and service just as we remembered it. The Earle did not disappoint.
We were seated at a table near the door and felt occasional cold blasts - our bad - we should have asked for another table. Disappointed that the salmon in a puffed pastry was not on the menu. Had their whitefish for the first time. It was very good, but next time will ask them to cool it on the butter. The gluten-free pasta with vegetables was excellent.
It was our third anniversary, which I added when I reserved our table. The hostess congratulated us, and so did our waiter! The waiter was amazing. So friendly, helpful and attentive. Delicious and wonderful experience!
Delicious food and wonderful service. However, a very loud party was sat next to us and we could not hear each other for the rest of the dinner. Perhaps next time the manager could tell them to be respectful to other patrons and keep it quiet. This is not a venue for obnoxious gatherings.
The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars was the quality of the desserts. Unfortunately the desserts did not meet the same level of awesome as the rest of the dinner. I would return again for the great main course options and amazing wine selection.
Delicious roast chicken to match the French feel to the restaurant made for a wonderful evening.
one of the best palces in ann arbor. food is alays dependable and very tasty
wait staff is accomodaiting and ou are not rushed
I highly recommend the restaurant and it is local ann arbor
Was so looking forward to this dinner. Was treating a friend and her family in honor of her 80th birthday. made reservations via open table, arrived on time, restaurant was late in opening doors. Server was Paul. The food ( we had 6people--3 ordered sliders and 3 ordered pasta with sausage) took a very long time to arrive and was cold and pasta dried out. french fries were cold and hard. This was very disappointing.
Great ambiance food is mediocre. Wine by the glass selection is below average for this caliber of a restaurant.
Cocktails are generous.
Excellent wine, food and service in a cozy setting.
Great French and Italian food. The French onion soup and crab cakes were great.
We got seated where I had requested. The calamari appetizer was just enough to pique our appetites. Four main dishes of scallops (2), pasta and chicken, and my steak were all superb, as were salads. The fellows playing music (piano, bass, percussion) added to our enjoyment. Wow! A delightful evening at the Earle, something we have greatly missed since COVID began. What a treat!
Excellent Food (veal dish), nicely plated with a brussel sprout and cabbage side and rice. Excellent wine list.
Classic dishes prepared with care. Scrumptious! Excellent wine list too!
Has been a favorite of our family for years. Never been disappointed.
Very enjoyable dinner with friends, the food was superb, service excellent and the wine was outstanding.
Soft jazz, romantic setting and outstanding food! The best anyone could ask for. One of our all-time favorite restaurants.
We were in town for a show at The Ark and made a reservation here for dinner before the show. The photos don't do justice - it's a lovely and fairly intimate setting.
My wife enjoyed her beet and goat cheese salad and veggie pasta. I opted for the Salmon in Puffed Pastry, which was really fabulous. Our Server, Chelsea made us feel as honored guests and provided impeccable service.
I don't know enough about wine to offer details but their Wine Cellar is so extensive that the "list" requires an index. I would mention that the Tripadvisor price range listed seems a tad low. Entrees CAN run into the $50 range. Hardly excessive for food and service like this, though.
We first celebrated at the Earle in 1981 as a special date night. Since then, we have come for many special occasions and last night we brought my 91 yr old mother for her birthday and it was as special as ever. She is an artist who has lived all over the world, and since moving to Ann Arbor the Earle has become one of her favorite places to dine. Our server was especially great -- thoughtful and attentive without being over bearing. Each time we've been to the Earle has been memorable.
We always enjoy our dining experience at the Earl, relaxing and comfortable. Duane is an awesome server and the wine steward was also very knowledgeable and relatable. I thought my dinner salad was a little salty, but other than that, the food was tasty and nice and hot.
Waitress was outstanding and, overall, another pleasurable visit to The Earle
One of our top 2 restaurants in SE Michigan. Never had a bad meal or experience at the Earle.
Very expensive, especially cocktails, for the average fair. The filet was very good.
Greats service and incredible meal. We got acorn squash and crab penne. Both were very formidable portions! The prices reflect the portions and quality of the dishes.
This was our first visit to The Earle and we were extremely pleased. Every food item was delicious and the sommelier was very helpful in choosing a wine. We will definitely go back!
Appetizers were good
Delmomico steak was inedible overcooked. Service needs attention
Best place in Ann Arbor! All the servers were masked. Will be back soon!
One of the last classic restaurants in Ann Arbor. Very cozy atmosphere. Great French/Italian cuisine.
Linguine dish was drenched in oil and the only notable flavor was salt. My fiancé and I were visiting Ann Arbor for the weekend and were anticipating some high quality Italian food. This was wildly unimpressive.
Food was very good. Ambiance was perfect for our sooner.
As always a pleasure.
Great ambiance great service we all enjoyed our means especially the roasted garlic appetizer, Panzarella salad, and salmon entree. Yum. Cool vibe.
Superb dinner. Scope of menu beautifully wide. Sommelier Kaitlyn was of great assistance.
Very friendly staff. Food was delicious. Loved the jazz combo, very special evening.
The restaurant is in the wine cellar of the hotel which makes for a very swanky ambiance. At least 50% of the walls were covered in patterned corks. Chandeliers hang from the ceiling. We happened to go on a Friday, the only night with a live music trio, though we heard other nights it’s just the pianist. They have an extensive wine list and 3 pages of creative cocktails. The bartender was knowledgeable and masterful with their techniques. The setting was perfect for a fancy dinner out. Their French table bread was tender and delicious. Appetizers were elegantly plated and seasoned. I would recommend the French onion soup. Our entrees were good but not spectacular. The price for each dish seemed a little extravagant compared to the portion. The linguine with garlic sausage had a slight heat while the noodles were well cooked. However the plating of that dish made it look and feel like a kid’s meal. The prime rib was cooked one degree longer than requested, but was very well seasoned otherwise. The side of 2 small red potatoes seemed odd and an afterthought. The desserts were pretty good. The creme brûlée served warm with a thicker sugar crust. And the pumpkin cheesecake was a perfect meld between traditional pumpkin pie and cheesecake, without it being very sweet. The highlights for the night were the cocktails, our wine choice, and the live music. I’d recommend it for the ambiance, their wine list, and other food choices. Otherwise it was a great night, a good birthday dinner, and great company.
I hate to write this, but the experience this time was just not great. My wife said the server seemed to be extremely busy (short staffed maybe) and we noticed it in the lack of attentiveness.
I had the peppercorn tenderloin. The meat portion was cooked well. Sauce was pretty bland. Veggies were a sort of 80's shredded/julienned jumble. Not really any seasoning on that either. The potato casserole dish was pretty good. For $42 I was expecting more.
Duck salad was decent, though it was pretty simple.
Wife had the pasta with the garlic sausage. It was supposed to have hot peppers in it. It looked like canned yellow peppers. Not really any spice to it. No real stand out garlic flavor and it just sort of looked like a bowl of pasta like I would make at home.
The wine list is of course great and the glass Syrah was absolutely fantastic. The smoke and embers cocktail was served in a weird glass, didn't taste all that great (or spicy since it said to have ghost peppers) and was still $20 for one cocktail.
Dessert was decent. Had mousse and the ice cream.
We had reservations and didn't know there was live music that night. Nobody asked if we wanted to sit near the live music. An older couple came in as we were leaving to be seated and we overheard them being asked to be sat near the music and they didn't have a reservation. We ended up being sat at a booth that had the foundation literally crumbling on us and got on our coats. I noted it to the hostess and she just mentioned that happens when trucks drive by.
I'm not sure we will come back for a while.
Great food and service!
