The food was fantastic!
Everything was great.
Service was excellent. The food was good. The only thing that I didn't like was that the menu was in French although the explanation of the food was in English.
We go there for special occasions. Never a bad meal or poor service.
Our go-to place for everything--birthdays, anniversary, evenings out with friends, and for no reason at all except that it's a great place with great ambiance, great food, great service.
We usually love going to the Earle, but I was surprised by the poor quality of food and slow service. The vegetables were overcooked, the meat was tough and the fish was swimming in a pool of grease. Service, while friendly, was slow and uneven. We also had the misfortune to be sitting close to a table with a person whose goal it was to be the loudest laugher in Ann Arbor; that didnt help matters.
We love the Earle. It’s our special date night place.
Everything is exquisite. The food , the service and of course the wine! Thanks for making my retirement day extra special
happy hour mussels were not of expected quality - small portion plus 4 empty ones
Delicious food. Fine service. Great pianist. The place is so dated. It desperately needs a makeover
Great food, great drinks, great service. The Earle is a staple to Down Town Ann Arbor. They have an outstanding wine selection and the menu is always delightful. I'm gluten free and they do a great job accommodating my needs.
I could come here just to experience their unmatched wine selection, presented at perfect cellar temperature. Food is always delicious; this time my veal scallopini - tender & vegetable laden- was a tad salty & sage heavy, but I’m being picky. Altogether, as always, a delightful dining experience.
Love the place, great food and super friendly waiters.
It was great. Love this place.
Excellent Anniversary dinner. Great service, wonderful food and an excellent atmosphere. The roast duck and an an excellent red wine made it special.
Waiters seemed aloof, disinterested, like they were doing you a favor, not rude though.
As always, a wonderful dining experience. Our favorite restaurant.
Our first visit and a last minute decision to stop here as we were approaching Ann Arbor. What a gem, I can't wait to visit again. Everything about it was awesome - from the staff, the beverages, the food, the ambiance, we loved it every morsel was delicious! Don't miss an opportunity to eat here.
The Earle has a mellow vibe and delicious, lovingly made food. The jazz adds a great surrounding! One of Ann Arbor’s gems.
The food was exceptional! Also, our server, Jeff, was very attentive to us throughout our dinner.
Fantastic experience! The food was delicious, the proportion generous, and service outstanding. Will come back soon.
A wonderful place to share great food and conversations with friends. Cozy intimate atmosphere combined with great service made for a very enjoyable evening. Several friends hadn't been for a while and one had never been, so it was fun to watch their reactions, all positive. Excellent wine list, also!
We love the Earle for special occasions. We had two little kids with us and their wish for French fries, while not on the menu, were accommodated.
I hosted two dinners there in three days during a visit to Ann Arbor. I think that it is a very good restaurant. For the first dinner's appetizers we had the stuffed mushroom caps and fried calamari. The first was very tasty, and the calamari no more than typical (though there might be a joke about how calamari is like sex, etc). I had the duck breast, which was so tender that it tasted like liver. Delicious. However, it was served with a fruit compote / sauce that was too sweet. My wife had the same dish and the same comment. The desserts were not memorable. The next dinner's appetizers were only the mushroom caps (!), and this time I had steak au poivre. The steak was really just perfect. The service was very good, though the wine steward was not there for the first dinner when I chose a Meursault that was not as tasty as I had hoped. Overall, two very good meals.
Delmonico and lamb were cook perfectly, the creme brûlée was silky smooth perfection. Amazing wine selection.
Our waiter Jace was beyond fantastic, the best dining experience I have ever had just because of him. The ambience and food was spectacular as well, so we will definitely be coming back soon!
One of the best salmon entrees I have had to date!
The restaurant week menu was great. The soup starters, gazpacho and potage dauphinois, followed by the whitefish and duck breast entrees, followed by the desserts, chambord chocolate mousse and chocolate torte were so delicious. The flight of wine selected by the restaurant, 2 French and 1 Italian were perfect to accompany. Excellent attentive service by veteran server. This 40+ year restaurant still has maintained its high food and wine standards!
We have probably written a half-dozen reviews for The Earle in the past year. We visit almost monthly, after a long hiatus due to disappointing experiences in the past. We have several favorites, including the duck and the scallops. Their soups are generally quite tasty, as the special puréed vegetable soup was this time. We have learned to request sauces “on the side” because, although they are tasty they are very rich, and the kitchen is heavy-handed on the dish otherwise. Since our return we have not been disappointed; service is attentive but not intrusive, prices are reasonable, and the setting - below ground, classic and comfortable- is conducive to conversation.
I think The Earle is one of the best Ann Arbor restaurants for French and Italian cuisine with impressive food and exquisite service. Their duck is yummy.
As usual this restaurant is the best in town.
Their duck is the best I have ever had.
It had been many years since we visited the Earle. We were impressed by the nice ambiance, music choices, and outstanding food.
The Earle is one of our favorite places to dine. It has never disappointed us. Looking forward to our next visit.
Outstanding service and consistent delicious food, topped by Ann Arbor’s most outstanding wine list, make the Earle a great dining experience. Yes, the decor is a tad tired, but you can hear and converse with your dining guests, and the bar offers some great values. Desserts are made in house and worth serious consideration.
Wonderful birthday dinner for my husband. First time there. IT is expensive, but the food is outstanding. He said the scallops were the best he has ever had. I had a pasta dish which was very good. We will definitely go back for another special occasion!
The service was strange, we got our place settings and water immediately, then the wait came. After 10 minutes we flagged someone to get a bottle of wine, the person taking the order was not familiar with the wine, as we had to point it out on wine list. The wine arrived promptly but another flag down to have our order taken. The food was great but they need to tweak the service.
We were disappointed in the service and waiters at the restaurant. The food was above average but the waiters were not happy, had frowns on their faces the whole time. It took 90 minutes to get our food, appetizers came to the table pretty quickly but not the main course. For the price of the meals and since we were celebrating a special occasion it left a not so fun evening.
Excellent food and service. Will return.
everything was top notch! The Earle is my favorite place to eat! Thank you!
Appetizers were great, drinks were ok, main dishes were — at best — poor to mediocre.
The food and service are outstanding at The Earle! Me and my friend both had the duck and it was delicious. We had chocolate mousse for dessert which was yummy and just the right size to share. I am always pleased when I eat at The Earle.
