The Eagle - Indianapolis
Great little spot. Very limited menu
We were celebrating my son’s All A Report Card. He chose to dine at The Eagle as his reward. Our server, Isaac, and the manager, Margo, truly went above and beyond in helping us have the best celebration lunch EVER! The grilled cheese, and the chopped salad were THE best sandwich and salad that I have EVER tasted.
Great place to eat and grab quick lunch! Chicken was on point!
Love The Eagle but when recommending it to someone I would always want to tell them of the Communal seating. Not a fan AT ALL. We were sat at a table with 4 other people and we were a couple of 2. When going to dinner I'm looking to enjoy the company of the one I'm with, not someone I don't know. They are interested in what I have to say nor am I interested in their conversation. I think it's just poor planning when setting up the seating for this restaurant.
Super tasty! 10/10 would go back and recommend it to others!
This was our first time (no idea how we haven’t been before!) to The Eagle and oh my goodness. Expectations were 100% met. The food was incredible as well as the service (lookin at you, Cole!). We met with a few other friends plbefore Justin Timberlake and we were pretty loud—so apologies to anyone else there. But the service, area and food were all incredible. Definitely will be returning!
They do no accept reservations for their patio, regardless of what the OpenTable app states. Communal seating is a bit different. They sat us at a table with three other people even though there were plenty of small tables open. A nice patio for after work drinks. Food is alright. Homestyle options, with 90% chicken options.
The food and service is always top notch at this place. Who would have thought you could get fried chicken this good in the middle of a city. The sides are both traditional with a twist or unique. Homemade bisquits are killer. Great place for a date or dinner with friends.
Great food! The communal seating was a bit awkward though.
Not too keen on the communal dining concept - would rather just sit with my own party. Fried chicken was excellent. Also enjoyed the sweet potato dish. Would’ve appreciated a few other side choices - green beans or broccoli. Biscuits were too crunchy and blah for my taste. Would only return with a group.
Everything was wonderful!! Highly recommend it, good value on food.
We went of Valentine's day before the Cher concert. So they were super busy. I would never order the maple bacon again. It was cold and very greasy. I love bacon everything so it was shocking. But all the other food was good.
First time going, it’s was so good we order take out the next day.
Very nice. Food and service were perfect. Can't wait to get a big group and go back.
Love the place but tonight our service was a little off tonight. Kept having to ask for water refills and such. We kept having to look around for our server. I guess it doesn't help being put in that little back room.
Food was delicious as always!!
Had been there before and had good experience. Not sure if due to New Years Eve demand but food and especially service was not what I was expecting. The chicken was especially spicy for some reason and our server did not check in on us for refills or even offer refills/another drink. Not sure I’ll ever go back. Very disappointed.
Finding awesome fried chicken in the heart of the city is the best thing ever. Not only is the chicken both crispy and tender, but the flavor also makes you go "Oh my." Horseradish mashed potatoes and homemade biscuits and blackberry jam make a perfect meal. Two people can split a side and a half chicken for a meal under $25. Drinks are extra. They have plenty of cocktails and also serve a fresh-squeezed lemonade.
Great greeting at the door! Staff is very friendly. Shrimp and grits were a spicy delicious surprise! The signature chicken was juicy but needed a little more seasoning in the coating. I didn't care for the seating style but it's a great way to meet new people. Our server was attentive and helpful and understanding of our time constraints. All in all, I enjoyed it but probably wouldn't go back as a first choice because I cook all those dishes at home.
They have common table seating and will squeeze groups together to leave open tables for people who may or may not show up. If you want to sit in a booth with another party this is the spot for you.
The grits were good, but everything else was average including the chicken. For a $50 meal for 2 would expect better.
Second time we've been there. First time I was trying to be good and had the kale salad. It was good but my husband was eating fried chicken, mashed potatoes and biscuits! There's more to life than kale! The food is traditional-ish but with a twist...horseradish mashed potatoes, jalapeno cheesy grits, etc... The fried chicken is amazing! The first time we went we had a table to ourselves but it is a "family style" restaurant and even though there were other tables available, another couple was set at our table with us. The table accommodated 8 so we weren't on top of one another and we knew going in this could happen. Not complaining but it is a different environment and something to know going in. The noise level is moderate but not overbearing. The staff was great. The staff passing would ask us if there was anything we needed, not just our server. We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and had a great time and will be back again.
Great food, really friendly people and unbelievably affordable! A must try for anyone visiting Indianapolis.
