Unjali (sp?) was our server and she was very helpful and an attentive server. Thank you!
Shared ceviche and 2 veggie small plates followed by the Durham version of paella with a real pig tail. All were incredible, especially the roasted Lombardi peppers which came piled high like an order of fries!
Homemade pastries and coffee at breakfast were also very nice.
Creative menu and fresh local ingredients...
Not only was the food great but the service was impeccable! Friendly, helpful- all around great dinner out!
The food and drinks were delicious, however our evening was unfortunately interrupted by a fire alarm. Luckily, it was a false alarm. I wouldn't fault the Durham for this, however it really hampered our enjoyment of an evening out. By the time we were able to return, our desserts were melted and we had to rush through our drinks. We will have to try them again another time.
Great quality food, at a wonderful location that isn’t pretentious or overpriced.
The steak tartare was fabulous as was my husband's fish. My chicken was a little dry but the garlic rosemary frites were superd. An expensive evening but worth it.
It appeared to be a quiet evening at The Durham, not many diners present. That being said, the food and service was lovely. This may become our "go to" spot for "special celebrations"!
The atmosphere was very relaxing and the service was very good, but the food was a bit strange for my tastes.
Excellent service!!!! Food was delicious!!
From rooftop to dining room service. Was great
Food was delicious though I felt portions were small & expensive.
I highly recommend the Durham restaurant. Food was amazing and the wait staff is very knowledgeable.
Restaurant is basically in the hotel lobby where you have a great view of everyone waiting in the elevator line for the Rooftop bar.
A bit too open seating for us. Quiet enough, but not very special. Guests wandering in to register, sitting at tables with their laptops and/or cell phones. Yeah, lighted candles at each table, but that was bout it for “atmosphere.”
Service was excellent and food was good, but too pricey for the portion size/taste.
We were visiting the area for an event and probably won’t be in the area again.
We went during restaurant week in June 2019. Every course was artistically plated and gastronomically superb. Really liked the snapper and cuke entree Will definitely be back soon.
We went to The Durham restaurant for Triangle Restaurant Week and were not disappointed! We had the choice of three appetizers including the shrimp and rice soup, local lettuce salad, and calvander fritters. We ordered one of each and though they were all good, the salad was actually the best! They must have put some seasoning similar to everything but the bagel on it because it had so much flavor.
We then chose from the entrees, which included pork loin enveloped in a crispy pork belly, NC sheepshead fish filet, and cassoulet. We ordered the pork and the fish so I can’t comment on the cassoulet. The pork was good, but the fish completely blew it out of the water. It melted in your mouth and was so flavorful! None of the entrees came with a side which was disappointing, but we ordered two servings of the tomato salad (I think it was called Vince’s salad) which was excellent!
Finally, the desserts included orange sorbet, chocolate pot de Creme, and banana split. I didn’t taste the pot de Creme but those that did said it was underwhelming and needed more chocolate flavor. The orange sorbet was very refreshing and had a kick of tartness at the end. The banana split was by far the best dessert, though. It was banana ice cream, whipped cream, caramel, peanuts and served with a side of peanut brittle and caramelized banana. I could eat a whole carton of that ice cream!!
Our server was also excellent and knew quite a bit about each dish. The only complaint I have is that she up-sold us on a different gin for the green room (fantastic drink!) but did not mention it was $2 extra. It’s a small thing but I would have liked to be warned before we got the bill.
Overall, our meal was fantastic and I would definitely come back to The Durham. Though my wallet might need a break after paying for that bill!
Our meals were outstanding, exceeded only by the attentive service delivered by the entire waitstaff. My husband had the porchetta and said it was the best he'd ever had. I had the sheepshead and it was just amazing. We also shared the charred sweetheart cabbage and it was delicious. Our server was great - very knowledgeable and friendly. She made great recommendations. We will be back.
Love this restaurant, though I always which is was a bit busier. It’s a huge space and it shows off best when full of diners! Food is always good and the cocktails are always perfect. Great staff.
Enjoyed the prix fix of $35 for Restaurant Week in Durham. Very good value for a tasty, creative 3 course meal. The price allowed for us to each get a drink (very good cocktail) prior to dinner and coffee afterwards. Service was well paced considering we had DPAC tickets. Will return.
Food was superb. Service was excellent.
Fantastic, unusual, fresh food. Best waitress ever- she was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. A little noisy, but it was Sat night and a wedding in house. Loved it!
Very beautiful surroundings inside. The waiter although knowledgeable about food and wine was not very warm. Never smiled as if he were glad to see us. The food was timely and excellent in presentation and taste. We had five in our party whose birthday was one of them. I had put that on open table, but this fact was not mentioned by the waiter. If he asked if this was a special occasion, maybe he would discover that. I would look at other options in the downtown region if I was to eat around there.
Truly amazing dinner in a very cool retro setting
Everything was great--food, wine, service, ambiance, noise level. We love The Durham. It's the best restaurant in Durham.
We had such a great experience at the Durham Hotel for dinner! We all ordered the airmail mixed drink and loved it. It was exactly what we wanted. Two of us ordered the dry aged burger which came with fries and one ordered the spring cassoulet. All of the food was super delicious and the service was friendly and fast. Will be back!
Enjoyed the roof bar for drinks before dinner. We appreciated the covered area’s shade. Couldn’t get excited about the roof or restaurant menu. Roasted chicken frites was almost too salty to eat. They need some kind of non-starchy vegetable side options. Ambience was nice. Denim on denim waitstaff attire seemed an odd choice.
Not impressed. The menu had very limited choices and nothing that was mildly appealing. Ended up ordering the burger which was great but I can get a great burger in many places in Durham. I have tried this restaurant a number of times over the last few years hoping that it would get better. It is very convenient to DPAC. I will say it is easy to get same day reservations. Perhaps others feel the same way. Each time I have gone, there are less people.
Somewhat typical of hotel dining rooms. Almost empty, so the service staff had no challenge.
Waiter was great.
Very nice wine list, and fine offerings of liquor.
Not the same for the menu, however. Very limited in choices for dinner, but okay if your looking for something just to go with drinks.
My wife had the chicken with a garlic sauce. That was great. My chop was fatty and over-seasoned.
Excellent Mother’s Day brunch. Food was very well done. The service was merely adequate.
Excellent food and excellent cocktails. Great service. Love the natural light from the window wall.
Amazing and unique food. Loved the partnership on "Primavera in Durham." Every dish was perfect. Fresh cactus was excellent. Service was very kind to us.
The special Mexican pop-up restaurant was superb. Loved the tuna tostadas and the jalapeño infused margarita. The trio of sauces with the chips were divine. Everything was great
Not impressed. Ambiance felt like a just a hotel lobby without much in a "restaurant " feel. Food was over salted and when the manager was told he didnt do much to comoensate or accomodate.
We were there before a show at DPAC so we ate the food anyway beacuse we would be late for the show if we had it replaced. Drinks took about 25mins to cone as it was aready.
And the prices were definitely way too high for what you gkt.. to many other great restaurants in DT Durham to ever go back here.
Consistently good food experience, assisted by involved staff, make this one of our favorites in a great food city.
Easter Brunch- ridiculously overpriced for a prefix brunch menu. Bread board and salad were wonderful. None of us were overly thrilled with our main dish and we left most of it on the plate. Everything was very salty!
Excellent food and excellent service! I would definitely recommend and return!
What a lovely restaurant. The food was outstanding, the wine excellent and the service was perfect. Will definitely go back.
Wonderful. Really enjoyed the food and overall experience
Interesting, unusual culinary offerings - all tasted excellent. I recommend the paella! Outstanding service. Located in spacious former bank lobby in mid-century contemporary style.
Our party of four ordered the steak, the hamburger, and the sea bass and an order of Brussels sprouts to share. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The fries were deemed to be the best in the Triangle. The servers were attentive and friendly. The decor is mid-century modern, which added a quirky note.
