The Duke Of Cambridge
We opened in 1998 and our ethical business ideals remain the same today: we serve delicious organic food and drink carefully sourced from independent producers, while keeping our environmental impact and food miles super-low. In fact, over 90% of our fresh fruit and veg comes from organic farms in the South East of England and East Anglia. We change our menu daily according to what’s available – if something isn’t in season, you won’t find it on the menu.
The food was bland, the place was packed and incredibly noisy, and there was no service at all other than bringing plates to the table. Extremely overpriced.
Lovely quiet spot to meet up - the food was really tasty - I had the chicken with polenta and greens . The chicken was moist and tasty so was polenta and greens. Everything organic - this is my second visit and will be definitely coming again - would totally recommend it. Only small problem was the dessert (apple and apricot crumble) took a long time to come and my son was in a rush to get back to work but otherwise wonderful spot.
Not cheap but very amazing food, lovely service, and super nice location for a great pub !
Delicious food as always but super busy so took a while for the servers to spot us among the bigger tables
Obviously a very popular place so it's likely that we were unlucky with our experience: the staff were friendly but were very, very busy - the restaurant was full. We were shown to our table of 2 by a fireplace, which smelt of damp and mould and we subsequently felt a bit 'out of sight, out of mind'. We had to go and find someone to take our order and again to pay at the end. We ordered some olives as a starter, which didn't arrive. The mains (lamb sunday roasts) arrived without any delay however the lamb was quite rare, not what I'd expect from a roast. The veg was lovely but the portions were small for the price (one small potato per person). I had visited the Riverford Field Kitchen in Buckfasteligh and was very impressed so was hoping for something similar.
Excellent imaginative dishes made with named-source organic ingredients. We’ve been meaning to go there for a long time and shall certainly go again
Great place, the atmosphere is very lively and the service friendly and attentive, even though it was super busy. The food was great and catered really well for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Overall a great spot for dinner and a warm welcome.
Excellent here as always with tasty seasonal food, perfectly cooked.
Very limited menu... evermore so as 2 of 5 available mains were stricken off the menu leaving only vegetarian options.
The remaining dishes were unappetising and pushing high prices for what they were.
Staff seemed confused why we didn't want to stay to eat.
I’d recommend the pub but not the Sunday roast... very salty and dry chicken and the roast potatoes were also over cooked.
Excellent. Great evening. Very friendly staff & lovely food
This place is delightful. Excellent and imaginative organic produce, well cooked, with an attractive setting and friendly service. We went back the next night!
Our 2nd time at the Duke of Cambridge. Fast becoming our favourite bar/restaurant in London.
I came in for Sunday roast.
Food was lovely. But definitely not gastro.
Just chocked at the bill.
1 starter we shared
2 roasts (with no Yorkshire pudding)
Always good, great food, friendly staff, nice beer and wine selection what more could you ask for!
Great quality food eaten in a pleasant, music free environment
Great service with beautiful food. An interesting menu with great wine list. Haven’t been for a while but last night has encouraged me to return more often. We’ll done DOC
Loved this place! Will definitely be coming back. All the food was amazing (lots of vegetarian options) and the pub itself was just a great place to spend an evening.
Great organic food, nice and bright space, dog friendly and not too busy /noisy.
Great food.... almost impossible to have a conversation because of the noise level in the restaurant.
Never, ever disappoints! Great ingredients, innovative menus and the kindest welcome! Always go back!
This was something of a food pilgrimage, because we used to get a Riverford veg box while living in the UK, and so wanted to try out the pub while we were visiting London. The food was amazing, with a range of cleverly put together vegan, vegetarian and meaty options, and the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the different dishes. Lots of good beer too!
Absolutely delicious food! Would highly recommend.
It was a great dining experience, great food and great service
Really friendly service in a comfortable and very relaxed atmosphere. Some interesting food, exceptional dessert and unexpected drinks options. Overall great experience. Will be returning.
Delicious, healthy food in a relaxed pub atmosphere. Friendly service
This is the place where I had my first Sunday roast ever when I came to London and went back now that I’m leaving with the same person. Food is amazing and service too. Very nice people and super enjoyable.
Very good food. Won't suit people who want pub menu classics as there's nothing like that on offer: instead the Duke of Cambridge delivers on its promise of interesting organic produce, presented with care but without pretension. This is one of those rare places that sticks to a concept year after year and maintains standards. Good beer too! I'll be back soon.
Your food is delicious. I love the fact that it’s close to my principles. The problem for me which is probably insoluble was the difficulty in hearing. Your lovely wooden surfaces create too much noise. Thrilled that wasn’t any background music. Perhaps next time I will ask for a table in the back.
Have been here a few times. Disappointed. There seemed to be a lack of love and care in the food presentation and the service. Felt a bit shoddy and stressed. Slices of meat ontop of a medly of coldsaw/potatoes and a medlee unidentifiable vege. Canteen food - not very refined. Did not do credit to the meat, which of itself was tasty. Waitress seemed confused, stressed and unattentive. Great that it is organic and money paid goes to supporting this. Support this place in principle.
Lovely and delicious food. Very friendly staff, would go back again.
The chef came to explain in depth the restaurant's policy regarding sustainable fishing. The waiter was professional, efficient and friendly. Water and bread fresh out of the oven was replenished without us asking.
Lovely pub, cool vibe, food is very nice with generous portions. This is one of those places that makes London great. The menu changes every day I believe. If you book a table in the dining room you are served, however in the bar area you order at the bar. Everything is organic including the drinks. Great selection of (organic) wine and beer. The waitress forgot to bring our bread but when we reminded her she took it off our bill.
Good service and good organic food in a pub atmosphere
Great ingredients, food and service. We have used Riverford since 2007 for our organic fruit vegetables and meat.
This was just below our Airbnb and it was the best meal we had in London. The service was top notch as well!
Very Good value for money but a little disappointed as I was expecting the dishes to be tastier and exciting. It was just a little bland taste wise. It’d rate the food 3.5/5 just because my expectations were rather high
Really brilliant Sunday roast. Great service. You could taste how good quality the organic produce was. The back dining area felt a tiny bit cramped but it wasn’t too crowded so it was fine. Will be back!
Nice place to eat but fairly pricey for what you get. The meal was OK but under seasoned, the staff were pleasant and helpful
Very nice food in the relaxed atmosphere of a pub. We had a great salmon and a very tasty shepherd pie. Very responsive to dietary constraints. Minus: quite noisy.
