Great food, fine ales, plenty of gin and a friendly atmosphere – what more could you want from a restaurant and country pub! 2024 has seen an extensive £150,000 refurbishment creating a stylish and contemporary restaurant & country pub..

Set in the tiny, picturesque village of Skipwith only ten miles south of York, it is the main destination inn in the area. The delicious created dishes on our menu are locally sourced and reflect the changing seasons, mirroring the wonderful walks to be found through Skipwith Common, right on its doorstep.

I’ve been here before and sat outside which was lovely. Now it’s winter wanted to eat inside. It was nice but we were seated next to kitchen which was cold as door opening and closing all the time. We ordered the meat sharing platter and it was great but to nearly an hour to arrive. I really like this place and the food was very very good. Would I recommend it. Absolutely yes.

My friend and I meet periodically for a meal and catch up. We chose the Drovers as I had not been for a while and noticed the refurbishment on the website, so thought we would give it a go ! I’m so glad we did it’s a great pub, the refurbishment has made it even better, it is so inviting but still has original touches and the log fires 🔥 The meno is extensive and covers all palettes. The ambience and waiter service was very attentive and the food was excellent! Although be warned ! The Mac n Cheese main is huge so perhaps just have a main if you fancy this dish ! I took a doggy bag and I’ll be eating it for days !! I used to live near this pub in North Duffield in 2011, and have watched it grow from humble beginnings to what it is today ! I would highly recommend it’s a brilliant country pub and has the looks to match with great outdoor eating and venue for the summer and even outside areas when the sun shines! Apart from poor phone signal ( not the pubs fault) it’s Skipwith, in general it’s fabulous. Give it a try we will be back for sure ! Thank for a lovely evening.

Second visit to this lovely pub. Everything fine but yet again, the attitude of the staff lets it down slightly. No one smiles! The welcome, if you can call it that, was non existent. The young guy behind the bar looked as if he wasn’t expecting anyone to come through the door and seemed querulous. Both our waiters never smiled once. They are not impolite and quite attentive but do not make you feel welcome. Definitely needs attention guys.

This was our first visit to The Drovers Arms and we can highly recommend it. Online booking was easy, the staff are all friendly, pleasant and helpful. The environment was warm, comfortable and welcoming, especially near to the log fire. An extensive menu made our choice difficult. The drinks menu was also comprehensive. The food was perfectly cooked, and the presentation and service were excellent. All the staff went about their business in a calm, professional and efficient manner. When booking our table online I indicated that the meal would be for my birthday. I was greeted with a birthday card from all at The Drovers Arms. After our meal I was presented with large plate with Happy Birthday piped on it with chocolate and a small complimentary dessert. Both were very nice touches. We shall definitely be returning again and again. Highly recommended.

Today they were a little slow in bringing our wine. Did not ask about allergies, forgot our mint and apple sauce, but otherwise this place is a little gem. We like to come, relax and enjoy the special atmosphere, the outstanding food and know there is no rush. This place is well worth the money and you need to visit to understand just how amazing it is.

Firstly we were welcomed and shown to our table, we weren’t kept waiting which was nice. Staff were very attentive and we ordered our food. The food arrived VERY quickly which was fab as we were all very hungry. I asked if I could have normal mash instead of the carrot & swede mash as per the menu, they were very obliging and I got my mash. The food even though it was very tasty was only luke warm and I struggled to cut my roast potatoes! This led me to think that with the speed the food came out it wasn’t necessarily fresh BUT as I previously said our meals were very nice and we’d definitely visit again. The fact that we could take our pooch along with us was a major bonus.

Elevated for a Sunday dinner without loosing a country pubs charm. The staff were really good with little kiddos as well. Fast service. Almost too fast as we didn't have a massive amount of time to settle in before the food arrived. In our case that was fine as small children make settling into anything difficult but just a note. We had the Sunday lunch, The beef was fantastic, pink and generous. Yorkshire's were great and side veggies tasty. Roast potatoes let the side down a little, felt like they'd been sat out for a while but only a small issue. I will say the additional parsnips whilst delicious felt a little pricey at £5. Overall though a really enjoyable meal.
