The Drafting Room Taproom & Grille - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Drafting Room is going down hill in my opinion. We went in on Sunday shortly after 7PM. The Drafting Room wasn't very busy. There were 2 salad orders/one cup a soup and the salmon. The food took forever, the waitress was very inattentive to clearing the table or asking for drink re-fills. The meal was overly expensive for two small salads/soup/and salmon.
I have had many nice meals at the Drafting Room, this was not one of them. Service was and is usually very good, not a crowded night so a relatively quiet room. Food was very disappointing. I requested the Salmon be cooked more to the well side and it was not. The Crab Cake was loaded with chunks of green pepper and onion, would have preferred crab instead. Peanut Butter pie, the primary request of the birthday girl was deflated and unappetizing. The Manager sent us home with a piece of carrot cake instead. I'll go back based on my previous history with this establishment but maybe not on a Monday.
The Drafting Room is one of my go to restaurants in the Exton area. Superb beer selections and food is always well prepared. This was a men's Monday night out gathering and most of us took advantage of TDR's standing Monday night special which is bottomless mussels. They offer 4 different broths and i had them all. Delicious and absolutely the best meal value around.
Ordered pretzels which came with a very good and abundant dip. Sister ordered the brisket. I had a burger. Burger was pretty good. Brisket was mostly inedible - tough and dry and next to impossible to slice. Server Will was prompt with his visit and offered to take it away and get something else. Sister asked for pierogies. Meantime the manager came over and apologized. She was proactive and said the kitchen had a rush order on the pierogies. Big mistake. They were charred, dry and lacking any significant sauce. Will came promptly again and was informed of the problem. Took meal away and the manager came over again apologizing and comping our entire dinner. Nice touch to salvage a not so nice experience. Since I do not live here, I won't be back, but my sister said she might give it a try at some distant-future date. Thank yous go to both the server and the manager. Negative stars for the kitchen.
The Drafting Room is a great place for brunch. My parents came into town for the weekend and since we love the food and ambiance, we decided to return. The food was delicious and the host was very accommodating to our needs. My husband had surgery on his ankle and needed to be close to the food and not on a 2nd level. We were seated right up close to the buffet. I also want to shout out to the omelet guy. He and my dad had a connection with their previous jobs and he was very personable.
We had booked the table on line a few days before which was easy. Due to delays on our.. part we were running late. I called to change the times and there absolutely no problem . When we arrived I was greeted by name which was a nice touch,
Service was friendly and efficient with plenty of interaction between us and staff who were genuinely looking to make our dinner event happy.
We all ordered something different and al l the meals arrived together no mean fete when there are 8 different meals with attendant side dishes and preferences My Rib eye was big and nice I didn't hear any complaints from the rest of the group. We all left full up and happy.
This is a lively eatery, so if your going for a romantic dinner you need to pick your seat wisely.
Would we go again? yes every day of the week. Sadly ,living in WV its a bit far t drop in for lunch
We went for an early mother's day celebration. Had the brunch buffet. Overall there was a good selection, but I wish there would have been some pancakes for the kids. They did have French toast sticks and chicken fingers. It is also a little on the pricy side, especially for kids who don't eat that much, but probably a better price compared to other places.
Outstanding Easter Buffet with warm attentive staff! What an unexpected and exceptional atmosphere and buffet. Carving stations with beef and ham were generous and delicious. Entrees were varied and salmon, chicken, jambalaya, shrimp, and even chicken fingers to delight the children. Wonderful salads, deviled eggs, cheese board and crackers. I know I missed something, oh the sweets table. The selections were plentiful, varied and exquisitely presented all for just $25.
Thank you for a wonderful family time.
I have to say, I was a bit disappointed in this visit to the Drafting Room. Usually they are so on point, but it felt as if they are slipping there - which is a shame. We ate in the dining room and had to ask twice for a server. When we finally got one and ordered our drinks, it felt as if it went downhill from there. The bread that was brought to our table was as hard as a rock, but we were starving so we just ate it. Usually it is very fresh and delicious. Our meals were just okay - my chicken was definitely way over-cooked or it had be sitting under a heating lap too long. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all. Probably won't be back for a while - if at all.
