Garden style patty, lettuce, tomato, avocado, brioche bun
Blue cheese, horseradish aioli, jalapeños, red onions
Housemade salmon patty, tomato, onion, tartar sauce
Was here With a large group of friends. Food and drink was very nice but our server was exceptional. She was so cheerful and professional and great to interact with, that she elevated the entire experience. I wish I paid the bill so I could’ve got her name off the receipt. In any event, she was awesome!
The Douglass was a very cozy pub filled with good music and good food! I would highly recommend the Horseradish Burger! The service was perfect, it's like we've been there a million times. The beer selection has a wide variety. It was the perfect spot.
We liked it so much after a show at the Barclays Center we went back for an appetizer and you guessed it more beer!
The food and service were excellent. The look of the place is okay. The music is absolutely dreadful. Those burgers and chips tho!
Really great little bar! We went for dinner on a Saturday night before going to a party down the street and really enjoyed ourselves. We made a reservation and they put a cute, little "reserved" sign on our table! At a bar! I loved it. We were greeted when we walked in by the bartender and our waitress was very attentive. I got the veggie burger and fries which were DELICIOUS! My dining guests got 2 Plain Jane burgers (with added toppings), the Cesar wrap and wings and they all remarked on how yummy the food was. Overall, the food is a tad pricey but I guess that is Brooklyn for you!
Would recommend to a friend and go again.
It’s a great place to go with friends and kids. We had a great New Years Eve there.
The food was very good and the server was very nice but very distracted in what seemed like a new iPad menu system? There was a point where we saw the chef set our food in the take out window and the server was right next to it but buried in the iPad. So we waited and waited, the chef rung the bell again but Still no delivery of food to our table.
At this point I would have assumed maybe the bar tender who was tending to one person could have seen the server was having trouble and maybe just drop off our food to help with customer service. Sadly though, By the time we got our food it was cold.
Overall, I’m hoping it was just a learning curve for the server and service isn’t usually like that.
Actually didn’t ea
We were able to make a reservation here on Marathon Sunday, which was perfect given it's right along the Marathon route. We wanted to grab brunch after seeing some of our friends run the race. We were pleasantly surprised that not only were we able to get good service (the place was packed) but the food was good too. Given it's proximity to Barclays, I would definitely recommend this place to others who were looking for a low key, good place in the hood.
We went before a concert. After an hour of waiting for our food, we had to leave as it wasn't ready yet.
Perfect exactly what we were looking for. Good fun great atmosphere. Just an overall good vibe
It took a while to get served & they were out of salmon burgers. We had grilled salmon, mashed potatoes & salad which were tasty plus craft pilsner beer.
in neighborhood for Rock n Roll induction at Barclays. Our reservation was for 530pm. They could not serve food til six so we had a drink. Nice local bar and will come back.
Being from Tidewater, Virginia, I don't really know exactly what I should expect from a restaurant in Brooklyn, so we went with a recommendation of the hotel where we were staying, and took a very short walk to The Douglass. The menu was ample for myself and my wife (a pescatarian) for a casual dinner. Ditto for the specialty cocktail suggestions, wine list and draft beer offerings. As we were dining, a group of local fiddlers assembled in a back room for what looked like a regular Thursday night gathering, tables of diners came and went, and folks mingled at the bar. The service was attentive.
Very good burger and fries, as good as I’ve ever had.
Went before the Elton John concert. Table was ready and service was exceptional. Food was great. Price was very reasonable. Had a great time! Thank you The Douglass! Would definitely recommend.
They were very accommodating to a large party and set us up in the back with our own space. The food was delicious and decently priced. The server was very attentive and we all enjoyed our meal.
Ever time I’m in Brooklyn I go to the douglass
I live in Bucks County Pa. My friends and I from wrk were throwing axes around the corner. My friend from Long Island's found the place. We're all glad she did. We all had a gr8 time an the food an waitress was gr8.
Great service, awesome food! Overall great experience.
Delicious cobb salad and amazing burger! Awesome cocktails. Friendly and attentive service. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Regardless of our reservation they were closed for a private party & I even changed the reservation & was never notified of the inability to accommodate my party... they said that they notified Open Table .. However, either way it very annoying to have to find a place to eat on short notice .. thanks for nothing
great food but it took an hour. More problematic--- they gave away our reservation ( even when I called and said would be 20 minutes late--they said that is fine). got there and was told at least an hour wait or the bar we have show tickets so couldn't wait,,then food didn't come for an hour
It is a great place for dinner/drinks before a show at Barklay's. The service is horrible. Waited 20 minutes for drinks and dinner was a wait. Food very tasty. Suggest to arrive 2.5hrs before show
Although we had a reservation they were not expecting us. Had to bring a table and fold up chairs from the back to give us a table. It was packed and only one server for the dining room. Burgers were outstanding. We each had a different side. Fries and salad were both okay. Chips were over cooked, largely burned, and dry. Nice atmosphere and truly delicious burger.
It's always a pleasure returning to the Douglass, especially when you can bring friends from outside the City to a friendly neighborhood bar. I brought my mother to the Douglass so we could meet some family friends from NJ for brunch. The food was excellent as always, and the service was as well. Thank you, Steve Raia and co!
Excellent buffalo wings and I was wowed by the jalapeno horseradish burger!!!
I gave 3 stars for service because while the server was very pleasant and tried to be helpful, everything was soooo slooooow. The food took over an hour to come out. Entrees came before appetizers. It took quite a while for us to be checked on after we got our drinks which in itself seemed awfully slow considering how few people were in the restaurant. I had to get up to ask what happened to our food after 50 min of waiting and no one coming by the table. It’s was a Saturday night. Why on earth would you not be more prepared?
The food once it did show up was great. I had onion rings and buffalo wings. Both were excellent versions of those bar staples. Onion rings were crispy, wings were still crispy and just the right amount of sauce. My friend ordered a hamburger and it came with cheese on it which he hates. Seems like attention to detail is not a strength of this business.
Too bad I had to wait so long for the food. I was definitely hangry by the time it showed up. Fix that and I might go back!
Excellent service from Kellie, and very good food, despite the rush of everyone arriving at the same time to watch the soccer World Cup final: France v Croatia
The Douglass never fails to please!
Went to watch the Belmont Stakes and have drinks and dinner with friends. Perfect place to enjoy watching a sports event, have some good food, conversation.
The food was normal fast food type.many things on the menu were not available. We were looking forward to having the fried green tomato BLT but they ran out of the fried green tomatoes. So we ordered a BL! The steak we had was just ok. The tomato soup and grilled cheese was yummy. The tomato soup had a great flavor!! It was a Huge portion. The wings they only had 6 of but they were so overloaded with bbq sauce that it was overpowering and too much to eat. The chicken tenders were fine. The Mac n cheese balls were just ok. Probably won’t be back. Nothing to write home about.
Great space, easy atmosphere, good menu and drinks with lots of beers on draft and friendly, caring service staff
Great drinks and food!
Need to install more bathrooms - only 1 toilet
Nice vibe, good food, excellent service. It's definitely my kind of bar with better than average food. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. very comfortable.
It’s a pub not a restaurant and not really a proper public house
Came here for my boyfriends birthday celebration dinner with a large group. Service was incredibly disappointing, and food was okay. Probably will not be back.
Average food, horrible drinks, and TERRIBLE service. Waitress was rude and inattentive. Also, their cocktails tasted like you were drinking Lysol. The bartender definitely doesn't know what he is doing. Would not recommend.
Hate leaving less than posi reviews but had a very weird experience on NYE, came at 7:30 and we were only the second table of diners in what’s essentially a bar with a few tables lining the walls (tavern-y) so expected everything to run smoothly. Not sure if they were down a server but we waited over 40 minutes for water and to have our drink orders taken (again, it wasn’t busy so seemed very strange) and our server would periodically appear, begin taking our order, excuse herself and disappear for tens of minutes at a time. Truly unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Server began the evening apologetic for the wait but as the night progressed she became curt and acted put upon when we ordered more drinks. Feel like we were in the middle of a twilight zone crisis that only the bar knew about and one which I may never comprehend. The burgers were very good tho. I’d consider returning for a drink and a burger at the bar only, table service was so strange I don’t think I’d risk it again.
Surprised it was so quiet and not busy on a Thursday night. Food was very good and service was great. Where is everyone?
Dropped in because nearby. Place was nearly empty the entire time we were there so it was quiet. Chatted with very friendly waitress. We wanted Sunday early lunch but only brunch is served until 3. Ordered a grilled cheese from brunch menu and added sliced tomato. Saw cheese steak advertised on wall. Asked. Kitchen agreed to cook it. It was superb. The best, with sauteed onion and red peppers. Two kinds of cheese were in the grilled cheese sandwich. Also, tried a local beer, which was good.
I made a reservation for six friends and myself and unfortunately when we showed up they were unable to accommodate our group. They tried to put us in a makeshift table in front of the door (on a very cold evening), which I guess I can applaud the servers for trying to help... But ultimately it left us without a place to eat at 7:30pm on a Saturday night for a group of 7 people. Unimpressed.
The Douglass is rated 4.2 stars by 45 OpenTable diners.
Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
