We went a week or so after they reopened and we had an excellent experience. The food was really good-we shared a crab cake, wedge salad and the Oscar style filet. All was very good, especially the crab cake. They also had a nice drink selection and my husband raved about the scotch options and the smoked Manhattan. They were still working out there service, but they were all very nice and jumping in to help each other. We'll definitely be back!
Outstanding strip steak for me and salmon for my wife. Wonderful service and staff. Will definitely return.
The pricing is high for the food quality. With that type of pricing, I would rather go to Perry’s or another nice steakhouse for the atmosphere. It looks like an Irish pub inside. I honestly wish they would turn this into a pub instead of what they have done with it.
Hi Katie. Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review after dining with us at The Douglas. I made reservations a month before for my husbands birthday. The reservation was confirmed by Ricks Prime the day before by email confirmation. We showed up to celebrate my husbands birthday to find the establishment closed. Very disappointing.
So great. The staff and food are amazing.
Our first time there. Surprised the noise level was so high. Food and service wete excellent! Prices as expected.
The food at Rick's is great -- best beef around. The service was outstanding -- Kinsey was a great waitress and Chef Adam came out and asked how our meals were. We went up to the top floor for dessert after dinner and were disappointed that the piano player had gone home. Will come again to hear the live entertainment at Martini's.
We have never paid so much for an average steak dinner. Our waiter was great but, We paid $260 for a meal and drinks that should have cost half that!
The service, atmosphere and food quality are all very nice. The prices are over the top.
Our server was AMAZING! Will definitely be back just to see her.
Some aspects of the meal were very good and then others were quite mediocre. The steaks were excellent but the seafood left a lot to be desired. Scallops were good - King Crab was bland and small.....seafood tower that was quite pricey was nothing special. The smoked mangonado was a visual treat and unusual flavors - it was entertaining to watch it be made, for sure. The lamb was a bit tough and again, nothing special. All in all, I think they have a way to go to really shine. Might give them another shot once they have been in business longer.
Waitress was fantastic! Called four times that day with questions on the menu. Left two voicemails, no call back. Called at 2, 4, 5 and 6. No answer and no call back.
Same price as Capital Grill, no comparison. Bread is not provided at the table, have to ask for it. Steak came out alone on the plate. No garnish, no decorations, just meat on a plate. I recommend Capital Grill for a high-end meal. Not going back to Rick’s.
My wife and I went on a Sunday night for restaurant week. It was reasonably full for a Sunday night, and the atmosphere was cozy, yet sophisticated. Overall service was great, although drinks sometimes took awhile.
For the appetizer course we both had the lobster bisque, which we each thought was the best we had ever tasted (enhanced by a request for bread to the table, as it did not come with it). For the main course, we both decided on the 8 ounce sirloin, hers rare and mine medium rare. Both were pretty close on cook, tender, juicy, and flavorful. For dessert, she had the chocolate cake with cherries/sauce, and I had the salted caramel ice cream with espresso shot. We agreed that hers was fantastic, especially with the use of the specialized cherries and sauce. I loved the ice cream, and the espresso was strong yet balanced. Overall a great dine, which one should expect for the prices.
Friends decided to try Rick's during Restaurant Week. The restaurant is upscale in price. So, Restaurant Week is the perfect time to try out a new restaurant. From the time we walked into the restaurant, the service was impeccable. Our server was fantastic. The Old Fashion drink is quite an experience. The drink is prepared in front of you on a cart. It is quite a production and well worth it. The drink was fabulous. I ordered wine and other friend ordered dirty martini. All the drinks were very good.
We ordered Calamari for an appetizer, which was not part of restaurant week but was very good.
Two of us had the lobster bisque, delicious with big chunks of lobster in the bisque. Other friend had the greek salads, she finished it so it must have been good! We also had a 7 yr old with us. She ordered off kids menu which provide just enough food for her. She selected the chicken w/mashed potatoes.
For the main course, two of us had the Colorado Striped Bass which was served with ramen noodles. The bass was cooked perfect with a crunchy crush! DELIC. Other friend, had the steak, med. She said it was really good. We all had the chocolate torte cake. WOW. We all agreed we were very full. Over all great service, food and atmosphere.
Service was slow and noise level extremely high for conversation with people at the table!!
Have been there several times now and always great food and tremendous service. Really like the smoked old fashioned served at table side.
The service we experienced by Gee was the best we have ever had in any restaurant we've visited. The staff is extremely accommodating, very welcoming, and the drinks are amazing! We will definitely visit again...and again! :)
Great foooooood. Awesome staff. They were polite and professional. Only problem is the lack of parking due to construction. That should be solved this year
We went for Restaurant Week. The meal was fabulous and the calamari to start was one of the best I have ever had. Definitely get the short ribs.
The price was very expensive for what you get. We went for restaurant week and still felt it was over priced for the quality of food.
Great restaurant week menu choices. Food was great -- well flavored
I have heard mixed reviews around town since Rick's opened and Restaurant Week seemed a good opportunity to give them a try. It is a modified menu for the occasion but most items offered are part of the main menu, but with an adjusted portion size.
The food was good, only minor picky things that were easily dismissed as our particular preference. The server was friendly and engaging at first, but got sidetracked before she even went over the menu with us, something she said she would do after getting our drinks. She checked back at each course which is perfect for my needs typically.
They are still a young restaurant, and these issues work themselves out as they get more comfortable. We'll give them another try in some time.
Sarah was great. Restaurant week menu was fun
Food was delicious, service was good just a little slow to take our fist order but overall was good. The parking was an issue, there are no parking spaces only valet.
Great service, food was good but pricey. I will try them again with their new menu coming out soon.
Initially our entre was served cool but they corrected it promptly. Since newly opened they are still working through a few kinks. The service and ambiance was excellent. The food flavorful and delicious. A little pricey but great place to dine for that special event.
Gave it a chance since its new in town and the steak was very good, but most of the food tasted like something I could have easily bought pre-made at a store. Our server was trying a little too hard which I know sounds odd, but she would lean over our table and food when checking in on us, felt so uncomfortable I would avoid eye contact and hoped she would just walk by. I'm sure they'll learn from the negative feedback I've heard from others and work out their kinks. Bathroom is also oddly placed across the hotel.
Party ordered 3 steaks, all slightly overcooked, one filet was returned. Nice atmosphere, good service. Well blended craft cocktails. Will be back.
This was my second time here this year. I had been worried after reading the reviews but both times the steaks, side dishes and service have been excellent. There is background noise but it does not drown our conversation like at some restaurants. The tables are spaced far apart. The room is decorated in a rather plain casual way but it is warm and comfortable. I would have a family or business dinner here.
I knew going in that Rick's was considered overpriced, at least right now. But we really wanted a premium dining event, so we gave it a shot. And overall, it was significantly overpriced. Here's specifically what we found:
We took the first reservation at 4pm on a Sunday. So there was only max 2 other parties during our dinner. They were ready for us right at 4pm, which we appreciated.
We ordered two drinks. The smoked old fashioned table side was cool. But it seemed the bartender was not enthused by having to do it based on something she said to someone else right before she appeared at our table. And she did a good job with the (expensive) drink, but she seemed to have accidentally inhaled the smoke, and was hacking a lung all the way back to the bar. So maybe she needs more practice. My wife's drink seemed watery and disappointing.
My wedge salad was just average, not as good as say, at an Outback steakhouse. My wife's burratta salad was much better.
The lobster bisque was disappointing, especially given the high price.
We both ordered ~ $60 prime rib steaks. We both added the ~ $12 Oscar add-on. That's where things were really disappointing. I am used to Oscar being white lump crab meat on top of the steak. This was this overbearing yellow sauce, with crab chunks. It turned our expensive, seared steaks into yellow, wet, un-tasty disappointments. My wife scraped all of the yellow stuff off her steak.
Overall, I found the service to be pretty good. (noting again, we went right when it opened on Sunday). I liked that even if someone other than our waiter saw we needed something, they sprung into action. (like to take my credit card).
As other reviewers noted, the kitchen does sound a little chaotic. We heard some loud cursing (in a playful manner). Not a big deal, but just unexpected at a restaurant priced at such a premium.
We might try again, but we will give it several months - maybe a year.
We were there for the first time on Feb 15 for our Valentine's Day dinner (I waited too long to get a rez for the 14th). We absolutely loved our waitress, Sara. Parker has needed a nice dining establishment like this and we will be back.
Casablanca salad with fresh rosemary bread was stellar. Seared ahi tuna was perfectly prepared. Delicious veggie sides and Chardonnay was fresh and crisp. Clean and vibrant ambience. Great service by Eric
Marva was exceptional! Great waitstaff. Food was delicious, although the tuna stack could have been more flavorful, more of the sauce that they drizzle on the plate incorporated into the tuna stack would be my recommendation.
We had a couple of signature cocktails, the fillet, tuna, creamed spinach. The tuna first came over done and we sent it back and it came out perfect. We followed up with out individual frenchpress coffees with a kahlua and cream. Was a wonderful time.
This is The second time we have eaten at Rick‘s and it was outstanding! It is so nice to have something like this in Douglas County and not have to drive into the city. The table side old fashioned drink is so worth it. Service is excellent and really enjoyed going upstairs to Upper Deck and then Martinis for cocktails afterward.
First of all the ambiance is not romantic. Our waiter described it as early forties Casablanca style. We have been to Rick's in Morocco and there is no resemblance. But having said that, our waiter was very attentive to explaining the menu and helping with selections. It was our first time to try a Smoked Manhattan and yes I would do it again!
We chose the 10oz ribeye and the scallops as our entrees and shared the Brussel Sprouts. Everything was cooked to perfection and we had a relaxed long dinner followed by decadent chocolate cake.
I would recommend asking for a table on the opposite side of the partition or in a booth. The main area is very noisy! I don't understand why new restaurants think that if it is noisy it must be a fun place.
I hope they are a success and plan to return for a special occasion in the future, too expensive to make it a regular night out.
Excellent food and service. Staff is very attentive, we loved Sarah and Mike. Must order a Smokey old fashion! It’s our official Friday night date spot!
If I did recommend Rick's, I would recommend that you have the seafood, for the steak prices are like Morton's and Ruth's Chris, but the steaks are thinner butter cooked steaks as seen in many middle of the road steakhouses.
Great food and a fun evening.😀
I took my wife here for Valentine Day Dinner. The steak was expensive, but the quality and taste was worth the price. The menu is a little too limited; I would have expected a special menu option. I would like to see a much expanded menu and wine list. The best part was the great service we received from Eric. My wife's tuna was overcooked, so it sent it back. The 2nd attempt revealed the quality of the product was just poor. Overall the experience was very good, but the potential for excellence was lost in that the high prices and limited menu in every catagory.
