The Dorian Ratings and Reviews
The design and decor is very creative and exciting- a cool homage to the Victorian Dorian Gray fused with modern street. The ambience is laid back and enjoyable. It was my wife’s and my anniversary and we couldn’t have had a better treat. The staff was fantastic and the food exceeded my most profuse superlatives. It was- in consensus with my wife- the best meal we’ve ever had from start to finish. We had a soup, meat and cheese plate with peppers, honey, jam and bread, burrata salad (my wife’s favorite), salmon plate and short rib for entrees and blood orange chocolate cake. It was delectable to the last morsel. Also the cocktails were excellent too. I can’t gush enough about this place. 10 out of 5 stars! Seriously!
I would never go back here. It was so noisy we had to yell across the table to be heard. The waiter couldn't describe one of the items on the menu. And because our dishes were ready at different times, my friend's dish which was ready first came to the table cold. And cold eggs benedict is not very good.
We had the long table up front for 8 people and it was a good space for us. It's very loud in there so don't expect to hear someone at the other end, while still yelling at the person right next to you but we got by. Good people watching from that spot. The food and drinks are great, cocktails especially, they kept surprising us. We had to wait a while for food but they had two large private parties also going on so we gave them a break. All-in-all I would recommend it for a good spot for a group.
We had to wait for a table even with a reservation but the hostess was lovely about the wait and checked in with us frequently and brought us some fries to stave off the hunger. Food was great. Overall would definitely come back again but make a reservation!
The Dorian was a perfect spot for a holiday celebration with girlfriends. The only complaint would be the extreme noise level since we were seated in the bar area. The excellent food items we had were: deviled eggs, truffle fries, Brussels sprouts, crab cakes and desserts. Our waiter was very sweet and on top of things. Would recommend this spot for a fun group dinner.
I mostly didn't like this place due to the clientèle and location. If you like the Marina crowd and those who like to drink bottomless Mimosa's, then this would be a good place for you. The food was okay. I had the Farmer's Scramble. The vegetables were good. I couldn't taste any dressing on the salad. The bathroom was so dark. Really, that was ridiculous. Ever woman that entered commented about it. I gave myself extra time to park but it wasn't nearly enough and ended up at the parking garage. Unfortunately, they were cash only at the time. Overall, a very unpleasant experience.
Wonderful, delightful and fun brunch at Dorian! We've been here before for dinner, but haven't recently for brunch. By far the best brunch menu in the Marina, and the new cocktail menu was also a gem. Service was outstanding. This place was bumping as early as 11:30am, so suggest to make reservations! Also highly recommend this as an evening cocktail spot with friends as the atmosphere/crowd type is very fun!
5 stars for Hector (but also the entire place)! I had brunch here for my birthday and it was AMAZING!! Hector who was my server gave awesome food recommendations. He even stuck a candle to the glass of the mimosa, which was super sweet. Wouldn't have spent my birthday any other way!
Food was great! Service was slow, but the food made up for it...as well as good company! FROZE was AMAZING! 100% have to try it out and get the chicken sliders or chicken and biscuits for breakfast....maybe even ask if they can make them into sliders...if you are lucky! AMAZING!
Was very surprised by the poor experience, as the restaurant has good reviews. Made a reservation a month in advance and restaurant failed to tell us the dining room would be closed for a private event. We were sat at a booth by the bar, which was overcrowded and rowdy. Nearly slipped walking to the table as there were split drinks around the bar. Could not hear the person across the 4 top table. Frose machine was broken and food was not good. Honestly would say the food was the worst I have had in SF over the past 2 years.
We had reservation for over a week. We were placed next to a table who had a young child watching an ipad on the loudest volume possible. I requested to be moved to another 2 top which was across the room. The hostess said it would require "a lot of moving around" on her computer screen and would effect other reservations. She was incredibly dismissive, unwilling to help, and just downright rude. We ate our entire meal, paid the bill, and walked out the door before anyone else took a seat at that table we requested to move to. Unacceptable!
I threw my birthday brunch at The Dorian after having positive dining experiences here in the past. Unfortunately, they were completely unprepared for my party of 10. We had a 2pm reservation but weren't seated until close to 2:45pm. After finally being seated, we waited another 10-15 minutes until I called our server over to get drinks started. After another 10 minutes of watching our waiter scramble in my peripheral vision, he came back to notify me that we had to wait because the champagne needed to be chilled. He offered us a complimentary glass of wine while we waited (which was appreciated). Because our waiter was dealing with this drink fiasco, half an hour into being seated and over an hour past our 2pm reservation, our food orders still hadn't been taken and we were all starving. At one point, we decided to even put our menus at the center of the table to further indicate we were ready to order our entrees. In the end, it wasn't until 3:30pm when we got our food. The food was good and so was the ambience, but I was really disappointed by the service. I understand it can be harder to tend to larger parties, but that's why reservations exist. And as one of the most popular bars and dining spots in the Marina, I would've expected the champagne to be ready on a Saturday during brunch. I'd still recommend this place for a small, casual get together, but most definitely not for a special occasion/larger group.
Great food and attentive service in a convenient location.
I've now been here about 5 times in the past 2 months and have loved every single dinner there. The food is outstanding.
Best burger I've had in a long time. So much so that I find myself craving it....However, I recently went there with a vegetarian friend and we shared the hazelnut roasted Brussel sprouts, the Squash in a delightful curry sauce and the burrata with grilled peaches and tomatoes. Absolutely delicious dishes all around. Well seasoned, well balanced and yummy. Didn't even miss not having meat it was that good.
Awesome as usual. Food is great. Service amazing. Good vibes with tones of young people willing to enjoy a nice meal or a drink in a bar with good selection of music. Good mix decoration. I recommend this place to all friends visiting SF and all love it. Just one cons: tough parking.
The restaurant wasn't busy, which felt like a warning sign...but we couldn't have been more impressed with the small plates we had (ahi tacos and curried squash, both were honestly amazing) and our cocktails. We also stuck around to watch thrones at a viewing party they hosted in a neat secluded bar space upstairs. Would happily return!
We really liked our burger, brussel sprouts, crab cakes, and salmon. When we ordered the eggplant, they said they were out of the eggplant, but making it with squash. The waiter did not know what type of squash, but assured us it was still good. It took a long time, it was butternut squash (not at all what we were expecting) and not good. Should have just said it was no longer available. He also forgot to tell them that we wanted bacon on the burger. Net, the food is really good, the restaurant is pretty, but service is weak.
Always a must when im in SF. The cocktails are always well crafted, the food phenomenal, service on point. This is the only place i will eat brussels sprouts, cooked to perfection. Also fab are the truffle fries and ahi tuna tacos. Recommend the Amulet or Libertine for a fresh cocktail and the Hellfire for something rich and smoky. Warning, it's a bit on the pricier side!
