Overall good, would go again, but the service was just pretty slow for it not being very crowded. Took longer than expected to just have a server come to greet us and get drink orders

The food was great! We had 10 people and tried multiple appetizers, entrees, desserts, and drinks all was very good. The restaurant itself was lovely. Our server was super friendly but for being one of only three tables in the restaurant the service was slow. Make sure you have time but wnjoy all the menu has to offer in flavor.

Was very slow and quiet for Sunday Brunch. Given there were so few guests, the service was in fact slow.

Based on the menu, I was looking forward to trying this place before a play we were attending. It was Saturday, and the place was basically empty. Everything came out really fast. We started with the Calimari and Octopus - fishy and rubbery, and pretty much awful.
We ordered the Osso Buco and the Braised Short ribs as our main course. Both were bland, chewy, and had weird seasonings.
Then we went out on a limb and ordered desert. We had the Creme Brulee and the Banana nut cake - Both were fabulous, we loved them.
All and all, pretty disappointing, but with improvements in the food, it would be a great venue to hang out. Maybe their big crowd is the party kids late night. Not for my Wife and me.

Our service started out lacksidasical...but improved.. Food was good, but not exceptional. I didn't realize it was such a casual place. I will give it another try when I'm downtown again.

The food and service was amazing! I made a reservation shortly after my college graduation on a Saturday and we were greeted/seated right away. My parents loved their food. My friend enjoyed her mimosa and I LOVED my French toast! Whenever I'm back in Houston I will definitely be back!

Nice place, convenient for going to the theatre but give yourself PLENTY of time. Our waitress was nice but SO SLOW! We were seated about 5:50 and there were only a couple other occupied tables. It took us over 30 minutes to be served drinks from the bar. Food was good, not great. Probably would try elsewhere before going back to The District.

Our server was attentive and provided excellent service all night. The food was awesome from salads to BBQ macaroni and cheese. After the Symphony, we walked back to The District going to the parking garage and the restaurant manager actually escorted us to the elevator lobby through his back door and it was greatly appreciated.

We had a reservation and turned out to be the only people in the restaurant. The table that they held for us was not very nicely located, kind of in the middle of the restaurant. Near a window or in corner would have been nicer. The wait staff was not particularly attentive. The food was pretty good, though.

It was a Saturday night and we were a table of 5. The server couldn't get out the brussels spouts. We ordered 2 filet which did not taste good a Paella that was under cooked and a ahi tuna that was dry and was sent back. We ordered a bottle of wine that they didn't have and the only nice part was the manager took his time to let us taste a few kinds of wine to make up for the one the didn't have.

It wasn't terrible. It just wasn't great. The food was fine but nothing special. Honestly what I was left with the most strongly is that the place was dirty. The outside tables were dirty with some sort of film (pollen maybe) and many had wet glass rings. The tables inside also needed a good wipe down. The place looked unkempt and sloppy. The chairs were in dissarry. No linens, glassware, service items, decor, lighting. Uninviting. The windows were dirty. This is a shame because that should be a big feature of the restaurant since it's mostly glass. Also, the trash in the bathroom was overflowing and there were wadded up paper towels all over the floor. I'll get my $32 steak somewhere else next time.

Very friendly wait staff. Good food. There's no hostess stand so when it started getting busy (Valentine's Day) some people came in and didn't know exactly what to do or where to go. That was not a problem for us as we were immediately greeted when we walked through the door.

My husband & I were in Houston overnight between flights and decided to spend time at the MFA on a Sunday. Looked on Open Table & chose the District because it had the broadest choices in menus. The reviews were okay, mostly complaining about service but when we got there were just a few customers, and the staff was completely attentive. We had a nice conversation with Alan, the manager, about developing the wine bar portion of the restaurant. Think he may be new there and trying to get things turned around as he was very involved with the staff. Would have no qualms about recommending this restaurant to anyone who finds themselves in downtown Houston

The restaurant was pretty and well decorated. However the food was just so poor - our salads came out all wilted and limp (not appetizing at all) and was missing various ingredients that were listed on the menu description. We didn’t eat a bite and the wait staff didn’t seem to care/notice. I ordered champagne and a glass of white wine was brought out but was fixed once I said something to the manager nearby. I would have hoped the waiter would have caught this in the first place - no bubbles and in a wine glass as opposed to bubbles in a champagne glass. I had the red fish which was a surprisingly good portion however the broccolini that came with the dish was undercooked - it was like eating a fresh, incredibly salty raw broccolini stem. I had to use my friends steak knife. Onto her steak - she was basically served a tendon. She fought and fought with her steak knife to try and get some edible meat off the tendon however, she was barely able to eat a thing (other than her potatoes). We had to go get her dinner elsewhere. The dessert was terrible, such a disappointment. We ordered the bread pudding however, I’m not even sure what we were brought. The texture was disgusting - some sort of rubber. I could not make out any bread in said “bread pudding”. Tried a piece and quickly put it aside.

I certainly would have hoped the manager or waiter would have noticed that our food was hardly eaten. It was a tough position as we didn’t want to offend and recognized it was not our waiters fault but rather the chef or menu designer. I will not be recommending to friends nor will I be going back.

We dined at The District before seeing a show at the Hobby Center. It was an easy walk to the Hobby Center, and our service was well-timed to the event. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was outstanding, and my shrimp & grits entree was very good as well. We were seated by the windows and enjoyed watching the street scene as we ate.
