The Distillery's warm, Prohibition-era decor is perfect for everything from birthday parties to corporate holiday gatherings. Hostess, Latina with blue eyes, was very accommodating with our seating. We did not like our reserved table due to a large party nearby so we sat at the bar and she ultimately found us a table.
Good pre theatre dinners. We have many of the appetizers: fried pickles, shrimp, hicken wings were all very good.
The hamburgers and the chicken sliders were tasty.
The restaurant is noisy at times and the service can take a bit longer the more crowder it is. Enjoy.
This place is very good. Food is solid. And the service is much better than what you would expect at this kind of place. I've had not-as-good service at high-end restaurants.
Cocktails are excellent & has a great vibe! Went twice for the cocktails!
This place was great. We went on a Sunday for brunch before heading to a matinee. Had a reservation for 12 noon and was sat right away. Our server got a little backed up so it was taking some time to get to us but the manager stepped in right away to get our drink and food orders. The food was great. I had an omelette, my partner had the Irish breakfast. We both really enjoyed it. For dessert we got the Whiskey Bacon Fudge Brownie. It was insanely good. It got pretty busy but never too noisy. Loved the atmosphere and the staff were all very nice. Would definitely recommend and will plan on eating here again the next time I come to the city.
Too much garlic!
Our bartender, Claire, was the best! We also met several locals that were very friendly. After our lunchtime visit we felt like regulars and came back later in the day for Happy Hour, and were greeted like old friends. The food was excellent and the cocktail selection was impressive. Great place!
One, if not the worst dining experience I have ever had. Restaurant lost my reservation. Hostess gave me attitude and should be fired. Food was the worst meal I have ever eaten. Over cooked veal with spaghetti that likely came out of a can. Waiter stood over me while taking my order with a $50 bill sticking out of his pocket. I asked about it and was told it was an earlier tip from another customer.
All in all I highly encourage everyone to avoid this poor excuse for a dining establishment.
It was a fine place. Loud and full of people enjoying their time. Felt like I was at a non-chain version of a Chili's. It was as if we were living the Chili's dream, but not in a Chili's. The food was decent pub food, maybe slightly more unique. Drinks were ambitious but didn't wow. I love gin and was hoping for more; i think the portions were off.
Honestly, it is not to be avoided, but I don't know that I'll be in a rush to go back, with so many other choices in the area.
Ate: boneless siracha wings...they were good, but as expected; artichoke dip with fried pita chips....ok; crabcake sandwich...good bun, pretty good fries, crabcake was good but heavy on filler; salad with salmon...really skimpy piece of salmon, but not offensive.
Service was great.
Always bring visiting friends here. Never disappointed!
Always good food and amazing drinks! You MUST try the English Rose cocktail...
Great experience. Food menu is diverse and drink menu is great.
This place recently rebranded and changed its name and to great success. The old place, Brickyard, had crappy food and was loud. Now, it's more chill and the menu/food are better. I think it's the same owners. The staff is always amazing. Wine is better now too.
Delicious drinks, and a very long and complete beer selection. Nice service, good for drinks with friends.
Food was excellent. Service and ambiance was great. Great craft beers. Good prices. Great place to go before the show! We will definitely be back!
We had a reservation and they sat us early in the back room which is what we preferred. The hostess was so nice- it really starts dinner off right! The back room is cozy and pub-like and the front area is brighter and more happening- it’s nice that they have both environments to choose from. The menu is awesome they have such a wide array of dishes including a few vegetarian and even a vegan option. Cocktails all sounded interesting and I ordered one with rose and egg whites that was excellent. The fried pickles are amazing, spinach artichoke dip is heavy on the garlic if you like that, and the fries are great. We all enjoyed our meals. Since we were getting together with friends and catching up, we appreciated them not rushing us and since we noticed they weren’t seating anymore in the back room for dinner, we didn’t feel like they needed our table and so we felt comfortable staying and ordering more drinks. Great place!
We had a nice dinner. We were there early and the place was quiet. Really good cocktails.
Went after a show, had a 10:00 reservation through OT yet when we arrived there 30 mins early and said we had reservations they didn't have us. No big deal as the place was not busy. Nice menu. They didn't have a list of all their whiskey so the waiter took me over to their touch screen to show me them all which was nice. Had the chicky sliders and the vegan burger.Food ok, nothing great or horrible not very flavorful and the sliders we're over cooked. We also ordered a side of the squash which was good, had a strong citrus flavor. It took a little while to get our bill which was annoying as there was only 4 other people in the place. Over all a nice experience but nothing calling me to go back anytime soon.
We had a great meal early on New Year’s Eve. Great food, staff and decor. It’s a gem.
We were in New York over Christmas and had a show booked on Broadway. We saw the write ups for the Distillery and thought we would give it a go. The food was good with excellent service especially from the General Manager. Well worth a visit if you get the chance.
The food was great and the service was on point. Would definitely e back.
We loved this restaurant when it was Brickyard Gastropub because it had lots of gluten free options. The service was always good and the meal outstanding. Now that is the Distillery, the server was friendly enough, but the service was VERY slow. The side dish didn't come out until we were nearly done the meal. The food was acceptable but not exception and there were much fewer gluten free options. I doubt we will visit again.
We went here on Christmas day before seeing a play on broadway. Amazing food, drinks and experience. Will definitely go back next time I’m in New York.
This is a little gem of a place. Five of us went to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday. The staff made us very welcomes and surprised us with a free glass of bubbly to start the evening off. Service was good, friendly and not rushed. The food was very tasty and there was plenty of it without being over faced. Menu is quite limited, but that is a good thing as it means attention to detail and quality is good. I'd go as far as saying for me it was a taste sensation.
There are plenty of beers to choose from as well as an extensive cocktail menu.
Would definatly recomment this place and next time we are in NY we will be going again
We took out-of-town friends to our local favorite and introduced them to the English Rose cocktail, and they are still talking about it days later. The back dining room is gorgeous, the bacon-wrapped, bleu-cheese-stuffed dates are decadent, and the staff is wonderful. We’ll bring everyone here!
My husband and I ate here after the holiday show at Lincoln Center. It was a short walk through a cute neighborhood. The food was delicious. I could eat the Brussels sprouts everyday!!!
Had a reservation for 8:30. Our party showed up on time and that’s where the nightmare began. Waited as we watched others get seated in a very crowded environment. They sat us at our first table at 9 which was beside the bar area. We had other people putting their glasses on our table. Finally at 9:15 we were moved to the back to a quieter more appropriate area to eat and enjoy our company. The food was not bad at all. The reason for low rating is poor handling of customer service. No point in making a reservation if you still have to wait 45 minutes to get seated. They didn’t send a manager over to offer his/her apologies or say hey sorry for bad experience drinks are on me. The hostess and door guy said sorry we overbooked for an office party. So if you don’t mind waiting this is your place. Again food was pretty good.
Food was delicious, fun drink menu, and good service. Will definitely come back!
Good beer selection and good menu - lots of options to suit a group that includes vegetarians, meat-eaters, everyone. The back is warm and slightly dark. Unexpected discovery. Would go again.
Food was good and prices decent. The service was lacking. The real problem - which was not addressed by staff - was one of the few other patrons who used the F word in every sentence. He appeared to be a friend of the bartender.
While the food was good, unfortunately the service was not. It took us an hour to get our food, and there was only 1 waitress seemingly handling all the tables. We didn't have a water refill for 30 minutes and we had to physically get up and hand her the check so that we could leave to make other plans. It is not her fault, I believe they were just understaffed, but they should have more people working for a Sunday brunch
My husband and I went to dinner with our 15 month old baby girl and it was a wonderful meal/night! The food, the ambiance, the music - all was perfect! The staff was so kind and attentive! The owner/manager even came out to give us our daughter's sippy cup as we had accidentally left it behind. The place is so cute, cozy and yet 'upscale' for a pub. We will definitely be back! Loved it!
I’ve been to the Distillery a number of time over the past few years (originally the Brickyard Gastropub). Food is consistently good and they have a great beer selection. This time we went with a group of 8 and it was perfect for conversation, beer tasting and food sharing.
The Distillery was great for our large group of 8 prior to The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center. We sat in a gorgeous spot with plenty of room and ability to hear everyone at the table. They had great meals & apps for the foodies but also had your standard delicious burger for the less adventurous. We will be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Distillery. Wonderful cocktails and service. My wife had the salmon and said it was delicious. I had the skirt steak which was also excellent. Service was great and had us out in plenty of time to make our show. Its a beautiful spot with a lovely dining room. Think I will come back to try out some more cocktails in the bar the next time I'm in the area.
Very pleasant! Varied menu. Food very tasty.
Good food, great beer selection (+ traditional cocktails) but lots of waitstaff issues. Incredibly slow an inattentive. The table next to ours was delivered 3 meals before the waitstaff finally got the right food to the right table. Due to our wait we were pretty dissatisfied, however when the food came, it was good enough to earn another star or two!
I was really disappointed with the birthday dinner I hosted for my friend at the Distillery. The service was slow and the food and drinks were awful. I booked for a “birthday” on OpenTable, but the hostess didn’t do anything special for my friend when we ordered her cake at the end of the meal. :(
To start, I ordered a $14 drink with vermouth, maple, candied bacon, and cherries, and it tasted like salt. I don’t know what happened with this drink that made it taste like alcoholic salt water, but I sent it back (and I have NEVER sent anything back before) and the waiter was kind enough to take it off the bill.
Everything we ordered for appetizers and dinner was clearly made from processed, packaged food. My friend’s steak was covered with packaged instant gravy, my salmon was served over a (very over cooked and dry) boxed rice mix, and my boyfriend’s ravioli was definitely reheated in the microwave. I wouldn’t complain if our entrees weren’t $19+. But you can find better food at a chain restaurant for less.
Delightful spot in Hell's Kitchen for a very affordable and quite tasty meal. Way better than your typical gastropub. With happy hour drink specials this is a great spot for a nice affordable meal.
We were pleased with menu and quality of food. The staff was super friendly, however service was sub-par... it took us roughly 25 minutes for brunch orders to be taken, items were completely forgotten from orders (hello, coffee?) and no one came to tables to refresh drinks or check on status. If the food had not been as pleasant, review would have been much worse.
Not likely to return, sadly, as we were hoping to love this place as a new midtown brunch spot.
