Easter brunch. Mediocre buffet and OUTRAGEOUS prices. Lackluster service. Guy dressed in a skanky Easter bunny outfit. Will never waste our time there again
Forgettable salad but terrific half chicken, risotto and dessert.
Greatest burger in town, with fast curteous service.
The good and service were excellent however the room ambience has been changed since we were last there and we missed the darker more intimate room. We would have preferred the former setting that was more like a fine restaurant dining experience than Dining in a hotel dining room. The new atmosphere is more suitable to breakfast or lunch in a business hotel than fine dining in the evening. That is our only suggestion. Other than that one disappointing issue, the food and service were superior as always.
Was much better 15 to 20 years ago. Now just another hotel restaurant.
The food and service were very good. The room was not crowded, which is a good find on a Saturday night, so it was quiet and we were able to enjoy our conversations with dinner.
Restaurants stand and fall by their food and the food at the Dining Room is delicious. Everybody enjoyed their food. It was creative with unique touches that I haven't seen much before such as the combo cocktail sauce/gaspacho that came with the shrimp cocktail. I used to eat at a very nice BBQ restaurant that has long since closed and would order brisket and mac and cheese and I would enjoy the intersection of the two on the plate where the BBQ sauce coated the mac and cheese and vice versa. The Dining Room actually combines them in their Waqyu brisket BBQ mac and cheese and it is quite tasty and reminiscent of my previous experience. They also have a very creative cocktail menu. Other highlights were the avocado toast and the filet mignon medallions with peppercorn sauce. The only problem we encountered with the Dining Room is that they seemed quite short-staffed for a Saturday night and the service is very leisurely. Don't go unless you have a lot of time.
What delightful find. The food exceeded our expectations. We will be neck.
We went here for lunch because they were offering 500 points on open table . The parking lot was 2 floors down from the restaurant. The service was good and the food was very tasty, however, $6.00 for a big cup of coffee was high.
We had a problem getting our 500 points. The restaurant didn’t put it through correctly . I finally got it corrected. I would recommend this restaurant if you do not care about points.
Menu and ambience has changed dramatically since my last visit. No longer a comfy, inviting, cozy atmosphere. Now cold, stark and barren of customers. Went on a Saturday evening during holiday season and restaurant was empty. Food choices were unimpressive as was the taste. Service was slow, uneducated on menu, and inattentive. Will not return.
One of the best burgers in town with an excellent wine list. Perfect!
Ignore my star ratings - we made a reservation through Open Table, received a confirmation and when we arrived were told that the Restaurant was closed!
Make your own chopped salad option is excellent. However there are no prices marked and you will quite surprised at the prices when the bill comes.
I was surprised by the quality for an in hotel restaurant. Ambiance fit a hotel, but the chef's food quality and flavor blends really rocked. Great surprise when I was after a good functional location for a business dinner.
They kept running out of buffet items.
best burger in town, always fresh, hot and delicious with great service.
Great cheeseburger cooked to perfection, with excellent service.
Great, fresh fruit. The best burger, every time. Great service too!
We used Open Table to make a reservation at The Dining Room at the Short Hills Hilton. We live close by and have been there many times. We wanted a nice place for dinner with an out of town relative. We received a reservation and were set....we thought. We arrive to the Hilton and see a sign at the doorway stating the dining room is closed but the bar is open.
We did NOT want to eat at the bar, we wanted to eat in the dining room. The food is the same but the atmosphere is different.
The Hilton should have made note on Open Table. It was a disappointing experience.
Very very slow service
For Mimosa and Caviar the brunch was a big success. There were some great lollipop cakes. The food was great. A good time was had by all on Father's day.
We go here all the time. Very good food and wonderful service. I highly recommend dinner and Sunday Brunch.
The atmosphere was great, small and intimate. The food was delicious.
We were only here for lunch because we spent our wedding night at the hotel 25 years earlier. I dropped several hints that it was our 25th wedding anniversary yet no one picked up the ball and did anything which I would have expected at a place of this caliber. Also, my husband and I were itching for a bloody Mary but found out that the bar didn't open until two and it didn't occur to me that we couldn't get a cocktail with lunch at a place that actually has a bar. We both had the create your own salad option and it was delicious.
Lunch service was terrible - the restaurant was nearly empty and the wait staff barely showed up, got the beverage order wrong, never checked on anything. The food was only fair and overpriced - $24 for a casesar salad with salmon, the salmon was delicious, but the salad was just a bit of lettuce with tasteless dressing. Very disappointing.
Food decent but missing brunch items that had been mentioned on the website ie caviar. Limited choices on the brunch buffet items on the occasion of Mother's Day. The waitress was attentive but appeared embarrassed when we mentioned missing items from Brunch. Again, I would lay the blame square on management in this instance. We remember past years, and Brunch these days at the Short Hills is not even close to the variety of food they had. I would have been delighted to spend $70 per person if there was a larger choice of items, but this was a ripoff
We dined there Mother's Day. Hence the exorbitant price per person. The setting, the food, and the staff were very nice but did not justify the price. Dine there on a non-holiday.
Great fresh food with exceptional service every time.
The food is fab
The food was yummy, the mac and cheese was absolutely out of this world. The tomato bisque with grilled cheese croutons changed my life. And the service was kind, attentive and entertaining.
My only two things that aren't exactly complaints are that I ordered a Malbec, a wine I order every time I see it on the menu, I fairly certain was a merlot. And the crispy top to the creme brûlée was clearly not freshly prepared. It was cold, like refrigerator cold. However it was still tasty and I ate the whole thing.
This was a decent place for a casual business lunch.
Very under impressed with selections for Easter Holiday Buffet, especially for the high price. We've enjoyed Thanksgiving and previous Easter's much more in the past.
Price was too high for what was offered.
It is probably empty for a reason. Food was just ok. Service wasn't terrible, but we were nearly only ones there so it should have been better. I doubt we will return.
Awesome, fresh food and the best burger I have had in a long time.
Have been here for brunch many years ago and really enjoyed the food and ambiance, went again recently and was very disappointed, will not return. Food was poor quality, the only thing I enjoyed was the omelette, also dress code very relaxed, sweat pants and base ball hats !!!
The actual price for the brunch was not listed accurately on the website when viewing from a phone. We were very surprised when our bill came and it was almost double the price of what the website posted.
Our Anniversary plans got marred by some family losses so we opted to just do a quiet dinner and decided to book here. We have been here before and were shocked to see a full house of diners but pleased also as I think it's an under utilized location for dining. Maybe a great marketing campaign would help attract diners more frequently... it seems to just get diners who are staying at the hotel. It's also across the street from the Short Hills Mall which is open late and offers a variety of restaurant options, therefore; the Hilton must do something to see a benefit in The Dining Room. There are some interesting items on the menu and good wine choices. The staff was friendly but they have to do something with a sudden swell in dining; the high number of diners seemed to throw the staff and service was slow... But despite the slow service we commend Olga and Rebecca for their professionalism... the slow service meant we lost our appetite and we took have our meal home with us. I'd go again but I'm hard pressed as to how soon that would be.
Amazing Saturday breakfast buffet. $11 for Hilton gold and platinum members. Made to order eggs, omelette, pancakes and waffles. Berries, lox, and homemade sweets.
One of the worst meals I've ever had. Horrific food. Terrible service.
service was not good
food as mediocre
would not recommend it again
