Will was our server and he did a great job at not only answering our questions about the menu, but also Downtown Nashville. This was my first time visiting Nashville as well as eating at The Diner which was recommended by my parents. I will be back.
Great food with quick service and a great view!
The food was cold, cocktails tasted horrible and the service was horrible. Our waiter was too busy trying to make another table happy after a misunderstanding that we got stuck with a couple of different people checking on us occasionally when they weren't busy with their own tables etc.
Neat place to eat that allows you to get away from Broadway yet still be able to see it from your table
Large portion. Had a very tasty sandwich.
Poor quality food, it took multiple tries to get the order correct and we only got wings and the southern salad.
Waiter was filthy. Shirt had enough food on it to make a meal. Food average and cold.
It just wasn’t very good. Menu was nothing like menu on line. Felt like we were being rushed so table could be turned over. Salads sounded good but were not. Quality just wasn’t in line with prices.
Go in knowing it is a diner and you will love it
We have been here many times and enjoy the food, the view (2 block off Broadway activity) and the variety of dining venues. We decided to go lighter than normal and had Hot Chicken wrap and Fish Tacos. Both were very tasty. The hot chicken was more mild than expect but still good while the fish tacos has very large grilled fish pieces in both tacos and delicious. Ryan, our server, was very attentive and did a great job giving us space to enjoy conversation but available to help, if needed. The Diner offers many floors that meets every mood you crave. Sports Bar, Oyster Bar, General Dining, Simple Dining. Must try.
Ordered medium burger and it came out burnt to a crisp. Menu too limited. Will not go back.
Server was great but the food was slow to get to the table. It took 15 minutes to get a piece of cake. The food was outstanding though.
Lovely evening with window seat on 4th floor. We had 6:15 reservations via Open Table, and The Diner always has our table waiting. Attentive server and always excellent bar service. We are frequent guests because of great location, predictably good food and prompt service!
I’ve been once between years ago. I didn’t realize the restaurant was multiple levels. I reserved a table for 6 for lunch. Reservation was very easy and convenient through OpenTable. When I got there I checked in and they sent me up to the 4th floor. The table was ready and we were seated immediate. The view and such was nice. They seemed to have decorated the interior with darker colors - as if to draw your attention outward to the view. It was pretty cool. The service was decent, not bad, not fantastic. The food was very meh. The burger patties looked fake but tasted ok. The chicken salad was not cut up well and it just had 3 large chicken tenders thrown on top. Like oh ok, I just had to cut up the large DRY chicken tenders with a butter knife in my salad bowl before I could dig in. That was problematic obviously. But it didn’t hinder the “experience” much. I’d probably go back and order something different but, I can’t say it’d be my first choice.
Came for a late breakfast. Very nice place. Casual and clean. Attentive service. Great location.
Quick service. Good basic breakfast food.
The food was great and the drinks were great! We had a reservation but arrived a half hour early and they were super accommodating to fit us in anyway by opening up a section on another floor.
Everything was perfect the food, ambience, service and the view.
We've dined here before and enjoyed it so we knew what to expect. We had reservations for after a concert, hoping the traffic would clear out some while we ate. It worked out perfectly, hardly any traffic at all so it was no problem to leave Nashville and return to our home. The food and service was great, just like in the past and being open late at night made it the perfect solution to our late night dining. We will be back again.
The chicken was supposed to be Nashville hot, it was not, no seasoning at all. Returned the dish. My dinner companions liked their wings. Server was friendly at first but her attitude turned sour shortly after we ordered, we had no idea why.
Food was good, service was good, prices were a bit high and the street noise was extremely high with the Nashville party on the street outside.
I called to make sure they had valet parking. “Yes”. My wife is recovering from a stress fracture in her ankle.
When we arrived, no one was there. Asked receptionist and was told to wait. 20 minutes later was told they were not available.
General unconcerned attitude at each station. Server did a good job. Very noisy.
Food marginal and poor value.
We ate an earlier dinner (6:00) pm at the sports bar on the second floor on a Saturday. This is a great place to watch multiple football games while you eat. As there weren't many people here, we were able to request which college football games we wanted to watch on each TV and they were very helpful in doing so (which isn't always the case in a sports bar with many TVs). Wasn't expecting much from the food, but our meal was excellent and the server on the second floor was very good and very helpful. In addition, it was much quieter than the bars on Broadway. If you are looking to get away from the noise and party atmosphere for a little bit, the second floor bar is a great place to watch sports. Good drinks, good food, and great service. I highly recommend.
Our server was excellent and accommodating with our party showing up at different times and needing separate checks. Very friendly and awesome service.
Brunch was very good. Top quality service. It wasn’t very active but it may have been early for a Saturday morning. Nice view of the city from the 7th floor.
Seated on the 4th floor. Host looked annoyed to be there. Drinks overpriced. Chose the fish tacos and burger. Burger was basic and thin. Fish tacos were over cooked, chewy and tasteless. literally coleslaw with mayo on grilled fish. Server didn’t return for 10 min for me to ask for sauce. Didn’t finish either meal but server didn’t bother asking if it was ok. Dropped off the bill and walked away. Only bad meal we had in Nashville.
The waitress made a difference, sweet and very attentive. The food was good, too!
We love the Diner, it's our "go to" when we go to the Symphony, Concerts, etc.
We normally make a reservation so sit on floors 4 or 5
This time we were on Floor 4
It started out good, waiting on some friends who were finishing their drinks on Floor 6
No hurry as going to Symphony
However, once we all ordered, the other people in our party received their food, the waiter finally came by after about 5 minutes to say he goofed up and my order would be out shortly, the chef was working on it, well it took at least another 15 minutes, as everyone else was finished with their dinner before I received mine. We still had plenty of time to attend our concert but I felt that I had to rush to finish my dinner as everyone else was done. The manager should have compensated us on this.
As I said, we eat here alot as we have season tickets to Symphony and Hockey games and attend quite a few other concerts downtown, but I am not sure we will keep this as our "go to" restaurant when so many others are there.
Typical tavern menu selection, not “diner” fare (I was sad they didn’t have meatloaf, but thrilled they had mahi-mahi tacos). We were seated quickly, near a window on the 4th floor with a nice view. Orders arrived quickly with almost no mistakes (missing pickles were promptly provided). Everything was priced reasonably considering the prime location.
Certainly overpriced and very loud. Lunch for 2 shrimp and grits, salad and soup (no drinks) was $78. I also have Celiac Disease. I asked for a Gluten Free menu and was kindly given one. (Waitress was delightful.) However, it stated I could have a wedge salad which included blue cheese dressing on the GF menu, but under dressings blue cheese was not one of the ones noted as gluten free. The waitress was very helpful and checked for me, so we chose another dressing.
Brunch on Sunday was on our minds when we picked The Diner. Greeted and seated quickly, Sam, our server, was a little slow to greet us and take drink orders. We ordered our breakfast meals and they were served extremely fast. Avocado toast - just say no to this item. It had obviously been put together first, and left under a heat lamp. The avocado spread was turning brown in every slice and looked pretty unappealing. What I did eat was decently flavored with blistered tomatoes and sea salt. The bread was soggy white bread. On to the Greek yogurt parfait, which was much better. You can select 2 items to make your parfait; I chose raspberries and granola. It was all yummy, though the gentleman serving it did not bring me a spoon, Sam quickly followed with it. All in, decent service, ok food, great ambiance. I'd probably try it again.
My husband and I went here for my birthday, and we had a fantastic time! The service and food were sublime. We will return the next time we are in Nashville.
The 4th floor was extremely cold
Overrated. Waiter was excellent. Rattlesnake past was awful. Spinach dip was awful too salty And salmon with shrimp was ok but again very salty.
Warm welcome upon arrival, lift to the 5th floor dining room. Shown to table quickly and water arrived.
Waiter was fast with everything, perhaps slightly rushed. Food was good.
The food was mediocre. My chicken was quite dry. The atmosphere is just fine and very convenient to downtown. It's a shame that the food wasn't better.
We loved everything about the Diner. However we were there on a busy Saturday night and the kitchen/wait staff accidentally delivered our entrees to another table. After waiting a long while, the error was realized and they rushed to get us our food. We understood it was an accident, but it did make us have to rush a bit so we could get to our show on time. They were apologetic and did not charge us for our entrees. This will not keep us from coming back. In fact, the way they handled the situation will ensure our return.
Great food as always. We always enjoy coming to the diner
