Amazing service staff were so helpful and friendly. Food was delicious!!
My husband and I had a lovely meal at the davenport. Haven’t been for a long time but would readily recommend. The food was beautiful apart from some of the vegetables being a bit too al dente for my husbands taste but fine for me. The puddings absolutely gorgeous- hence I ate far too much! Will definitely be returning as soon as possible with some friends.
Highly recommended. Great food, service and ambience. Been before and wil come back again.
Fantastic as always.
Lovely food and service. Nice atmosphere
Yummy Sunday lunch! Ticked everyone's boxes. Great Service. Smiles all around ☺
Great atmosphere, service and food! It's a favorite of ours and we will be back again. The tables are well spaced out. Good music, not too loud.
Dog friendly in the bar area and outside.
Staff are very helpful and friendly. Can't wait to visit again!
Consistently good on every level. Highly recommend and dog freindly.
One of the best Sunday lunches we've had in recent memory. Definitely recommend.
The menu was limited but the food was good. Service was a little slow at times but they were busy so that’s fine. Lovely surroundings and I think with a little more choice on the menu this could be a great place
The service was amazing, food was exceptional and the location was spot on!
All for a reasonable price
The food was delicious and the service very good.
I think the food was slightly overpriced v quality. £7.50 for a scotch egg with a slice of black pudding was a bit steep plus not really dressed nicely. The meze was just blobs on a plate. Little bowls would be better.
We will come back & recommend but would advise a look at presentation & price.
Service was excellent though & staff should be praised.
Went on Monday for lunch so was bound to be quiet but excellent food and service
Sunday dining and the meals were extremely tasty, a great choice of vegetables to accompany it and pot of gravy. Portions are large (perhaps too large for many) but it all certainly added to a great taste bud experience.
The best Sunday lunch we have had in a while. Couldn’t fault it at all.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Food was delicious, with sensible portion sizes
Staying the night so booked a table for dinner and so glad we did. Food was outstanding with a varied and interesting menu. Service very attentive and expertly done. Don’t often leave reviews but The Devonport is definitely worth a visit.
Lovely food good service might try outside next time looks lovely weather permitted
Lovely food as always and friendly service. We’re sat near a large noisy table which slightly ruined the mood but otherwise an enjoyable visit!
Thé service and setting were good, but the fried fish was dry.
Nice atmosphere & great service. Food could be better for prices. Bit disappointing on flavour & seasoning.
Always a nice experience. Food is outstanding, staff very friendly and helpful.
As always, food was gorgeous.. service top notch, can’t fault this place.. We had Sunday lunch, both had Pork and it was lovely, we’ll definitely be back. Steak night has just returned so will be giving that a go too.
All good but duck was a little overdone but still very tasty.
Quite disappointed really given the cost. The booking process through Opentable was smooth but the menu shown was not correct (not sure who is responsible for that), the one we got was completely different. We arrived and were seated quickly but we were tucked away in a rather unappealing (compared to the rest of the dining room which had nice ambiance) area near the fire doors and kitchen. The food was nice enough but didn't seem like good value for money, for example I had a burger for £14.50 which was nice enough, nothing startling, but it came on is own with a pot of chips...what would it have taken to add a bit of salad or such like to the plate to make it more appealing? The same was true for the other dishes we had, I realise they would prefer to charge for sides but still! The worst bit from my point of view was the cheese board, that was the most expensive desert so I was expecting something noteworthy but to be frank it was just pants. Three tiny bits of cheese, some generic selection pack crackers a few grapes and a couple of bits of celery (dry). I was quite envious of the sticky toffee pudding my wife ordered (at 2/3 the price of the cheese board!). The service also wasn't great, I don't blame the lad I'm sure he's only recently started and no doubt it's hard to find anyone nowadays but a bit more training wouldn't go amiss.
Anyway other reviewers seem to like the place but from my point of view it was a bit of a let down and I won't rush back.
Usual good food & good service in nice surroundings. Great choices on the menu.
The Sunday lunch was excellent. A really tasty plate of food. The ambience and service were also excellent and we had a lovely evening thank you
A family get together for Sunday lunch was just just perfect as was the food! It was brought out quickly, we all got it together and it was nice and hot which I like.
Deserts went down a treat, the almond cake was delicious!
All in all a lovely day was had by all, we’ll definitely be returning!
Our thoughts: food was excellent; staff were friendly and accommodating; and decor was stylish and sophisticated. Felt really welcome as a family with kids and a dog - rare in a place like that, well done. The type of place you feel equally welcome and at ease following a long walk in your hiking gear or dressed up for an occasion.
Defiantly go back and would recommend. Our new favourite place to go locally.
Lovely place to have a quiet relaxed evening , would definitely recommend
Excellent meal. Food was very tasty. Service was very good especially as they were very busy. Staff were friendly and attentive. It says a lot about a place when it is full on a Wednesday evening.
Fantastic location, we sat outside with our dog. Friendly & very helpful staff, food was delicious, highly recommended
Always had a lovely meal here but Sunday lunch was disappointing for me. I had the roast beef and it was fatty and stringy with no taste. It was difficult to cut (even with a steak knife) so I gave up in the end. Starter was fine. Husband's pork was OK.
We keep returning because the staff and food are equally brilliant.
First time visiting the Devonport
Cannot compliment this venue enough
Will definitely be back
The only negative was that there was only 1 vegetarian main option and even that had Chicken crumbs on it
Other than that well done
Amazing food and excellent service would recommend
£31.20 pp for Chicken Kiev + 1 drink, bit spenny
Fantastic fish and chips and beautiful halibut. The cauliflower purée was delicious. Disappointed I wasn’t told that the hispi cabbage had changed to white cabbage. No doubt availability but plate of food looked a little insipid.
Having asked for orange juice without ice, it still appeared with loads of ice.
Sticky toffee puddling was light and generous.
