This historic venue is the fourth outlet opened in the last 10 years by the local award winning restaurateurs behind The Bay Horse at Hurworth, Muse and Cena of Yarm.

Located between Darlington and Yarm overlooking the beautiful unspoilt countryside and banks of the River Tees, with good access to Teesside and Darlington is a fantastic base to explore the area.

Initially rather noisy, but when the next big table left, it was perfect. The food was delicious on the whole and good value. The ‘crispy crackling’ was not crisp, otherwise all main courses were excellent. Nobody liked the smoked cheese. A good cheddar is much preferable. Wines were excellent.

Have had numerous beautiful meals here but disappointed with a couple of things last time. Steak was still rare after asking for medium well, disagreement over taste of sauce to accompany.

Nice open environment. Tables not too close together. Great menus to choose from either from normal a la carte or the or the offers of two or three course special. Friendly staff and service. Food all round cooked really well and a good size portion. First time experience and will call in again for sure!👍
