The Derby is more than a restaurant. Established in 1922, it has been family owned and operated since 1951. It is a grand museum showcasing some of horse racing’s greatest moments. Diners are invited to take a break from the rush of modern life and travel back to the time of George Woolf, Seabiscuit, and relive the excitement of “The Race of the Century”. We excel in offering the best meat and fresh seafood hand selected by our longtime executive chef that would delight even the most discriminating of taste. Some of the menu highlights include the Bacon Wrapped Filet, Delmonico New York, Prime Rib and Shrimp Scampi. We offer a wide selection of wines by the bottle and by the glass. Relax and enjoy a delicious meal in one of our iconic red leather booths, take in a beautiful evening on our terrace, or watch a sporting event in our bar and lounge. I may not leave a review every time we go, but The Derby never disappoints in both food and service. Today we had Joshua as our server and it made our dining experience very welcoming and enjoyable. It’s like we’re visiting someone’s house as a guest. We weren’t rushed or had to wait long for anything. The lobster tails we had today were very large and cooked to perfection. We loved our visit and also love our visits here!

From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant continually exceeds all expectations. My husband and I had taken a tour of the Wrigley Mansion and set dinner at The Derby as the cherry on top of a lovely day. Everything was prepared to perfection. I had the Bananas Foster for the first time. Fantastic! Highly recommended The Derby!

The Derby is forever a vibe. The decor, service, and food are unparalleled (the interior is decked to the nines during winter holidays, don’t miss it!). We feasted on prime rib (savory, tender) and their famous bacon wrapped filet (always a crowd pleaser). And, because we were celebrating a birthday, they rolled out a baked Alaska that was flambéed tableside. Perfection 🧑🏻‍🍳😘

From the moment we arrived the staff greeted my guest with a happy birthday. The service and food were excellent and for her birthday they brought a baked Alaska and proceeded to flambé table side. It was a lovely birthday lunch.

Another splendid dining experience at The Derby! Delightful decor, very professional service, delicious beef (prepared "bleu," just the way we like it!), wonderful appetizers and sides. Couldn't be any better! This is a grand establishment, serving guests for more than 100 years, and we're trying to figure out a way that we can return and return and return for the NEXT 100 years! Our favorite in the area, for sure.
