Ruth’s Chris Steak House - Silver Legacy Resort Casino
The Depot is located in Reno, Nevada and offers a restaurant as well as a craft brewery and distillery. This restaurant uses traditions from the past but puts an innovative spin to them. The drink menu is vast and includes unique cocktails like the silver donkey, with whiskey, honey, lime, St. Germain liqueur and ginger beer. Draft beers at The Depot also run the gamut from traditional to modern. The ranch hand is an excellent choice for those who enjoy a light malt.
The Depot provides many options for snacking or eating. Some light snacks offered are the poutine, cornbread fritters and pork belly tacos. Those looking for a bit more can try the fishermans stew, lamb shank or the vegetarian stuffed poblanos.
Dinner: Monday - Thursday: 5:00pm - 10:30pm, Friday - Saturday: 5:00pm - 2:00am, Sunday: 5:00pm - 9:30pm
As usual, everything about this dining experience was excellent. The chef (maybe the owner?) even came out to make the rounds and seek opinions. Best restaurant in Reno.
This is our second time at this place. The food and the service were both way worse than they were the first time we were there. It's a really cool place if only they could get their act together.
When seeking a place to celebrate the New Year, overall cost is certainly expected to be more than a usual night. The Depot promised a reasonable price for food that seemed interesting, and paired with special choice beers ($60-80). However, the appetizer grilled endive salad was very bitter and lacked flavor; the salad included pears that were seasoned well, but quite hard in texture. The accompanying pheasant was very dry (and looking around the room, it seemed everyone was experiencing the same disappointment.) Dry pheasant on dry noodles was tough to get down. However, the entree was a roasted acorn squash with curried risotto and that dish had a lot of flavor. The desert was a bland white chocolate brownie, again, not worth finishing. Needless to say, we left unsatisfied and hungry. The Depot, in general, has pretty good food, but the other menu wasn't available that night. The beers were good, but not worth the $80 per person.
Atmosphere and venue were great as most reviewers wrote. However, we were disappointed with the menu and service.
The cornbread fritters lacked seasoning. You get some hints of the jalapeno and sweetness from the glaze but overall they were somewhat dry and bland.
Banh 'Merica suggests that it's a play on a Banh Mi but the sandwich left you feeling heavy due to the aioli. It was missing the freshness of the Asian elements due to the under use of cilantro and pickled vegetables.
When the Depot Burger (ordered medium) arrived at the table, the bun was cold, the beef patty was dry and cooked well done.
Service: our server was attentive but we had to request that our water bottle be refilled. The first time he left with our bottle but never returned with another one. We ended asking another server to get us water. He also asked my wife if she ordered a drink a couple of times but she never placed drink order or indicated she wanted one.
This place has promise. I'll come back but maybe just for a drink for now.
Noise levels were high, it would be great if they installed some kind of noise absorbing material on ceiling or somewhere to bring down noise levels. It was hard to engage in conversations at my table due to noise levels.
Also, add support to pay with "Apple Pay" via the Open Table iOS app
The food was wonderful, however we couldn't order more drinks or dessert as we couldn't get any service. And it took 30 minutes to track down a server for our check.
My wife and I recently stopped in for lunch, and found the service and menu to be top notch. We both enjoyed our experience here and highly recommend this spot for a romantic moment to remember.
I arrived early for my lunch reservation and was greeted warmly by the hostess and seated promptly. The server was attentive without being intrusive and my friend and I were well cared for. The menu is interesting and innovative, not a repeat of every other place in town. We both had the soup of the day, which was delicious and appropriately hot when served. As the dining room filled, we were still able to talk without shouting at one another and we enjoyed a leisurely meal and conversation.
I'll be back to The Depot for more creative cuisine.
Our server was great, even as we were a large group. Food and drinks came quickly and he checked in often.
Yummy food and drink
This place is always great, and Saturday night was no different. This is my fathers favorite place and it was our turn to take him out. Great specials that are always fresh with locally farmed produce. I had the salmon wth a beet salad and my wife had the veal. Not sure what my dad(Papa) had.
We shared a very nice Barolo and a fantastic chocolate torte.
Service is exceptional, but that my be because they know him as he's a Local and frequents often.
Had been here once previously and ordered cocktails and a meat/cheese board. Food was good, drinks not so much- may have just not been my taste. This time however, We ordered five dishes all together and each was disappointing. I had one of the sour beer options which was okay- not the best one i've ever had. Its a nice location and building but food is expensive to not be impressive.
This was a great find. Good food, great service and the beer was delicious too.
It's a beautiful, renovated building inside and out. The servers were friendly and prompt. We came for Sunday brunch and our party included my two nieces, ages 11 and 5 respectively. This was my choice for brunch since my birthday is on Thursday, but unfortunately, there was no children's menu, and, as their parents are kind of picky as well, all they would eat were pancakes. We were a bit dismayed to see that a $9 small order included only two, average-sized pancakes. I was told that the pancakes were just "okay." My father, did, however, enjoy his Eggs Benedict and my dish was good. It's a neat place, decent food, but overpriced in my opinion.
Wonderful people, great young crowd the happening place of Reno!!
the mac and cheese was AMAZING and the shrimp ceviche was the best I've ever had!
Got here late (after a show) and eat / drank at the bar....service was great...friendly, informed, etc. Food was equally good (they were serving the full menu at 10:30 PM). Nice.
As always, it was a pleasure to dine at The Depot!
Depot is really well designed and thought out to enhance the existing building in the decor. Menu is balanced with excellent choices throughout the range of price and offerings.
Great food in a renovated historic building. My halibut was delicious. Excellent service too.
We had a great time at the depot. The food and drinks we're great! Cool little spot.
Good over all restaurant and a beautiful building. Nice bar area to sit and have a drink. The staff was friendly, however the bartender could have been a bit more upbeat and friendly.
Tried the bone marrow, not too excited about that. Kind of like conjealed meat. Tried the pork belly tacos also, just so so. a little dry and flavorless. The flat iron steak with mash was great!
While visiting Reno, we were looking for a local "find" and got that with The Depot. This is in a historic, brick building, which adds to the ambiance.
We were seated upstairs next to one of the bars and had a fantastic server. She was beyond attentive and even created new drinks based upon our party's preferences.
I highly recommend The Depot - a great, local restaurant in Reno!
I recently enjoyed an amazing brunch at the Depot. Everything about my meal was perfect. All staff were very friendly and attentive to every need that my friend's and I could possibly have. The food was fantastic (a sentiment shared by everyone at my table). We thoroughly enjoyed the Traitorous Benedict with artichoke hearts, asparagus, red bell peppers, etc., fig and goat cheese salad, and hash. The $10 bottomless mimosas were also very popular at my table, as were our tastings of the house-crafted Ranch Hand Ale and gin. We also loved the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. After a very disappointing meal at a steakhouse at a nearby casino the night before, we couldn't have been more impressed by every aspect of The Depot. I highly recommend that your next meal be at Depot!
The steak came out much too rare, but rest is good. Menu has many options. Wine list not too great, much more of a beer and hard liquor place. The chairs at the tables are horribly uncomfortable. Atmosphere is that of a bar. Not private, so much better for groups rather than couples and very casual.
The noise level was pretty high, that is just didn't seem to fit what we were looking for for a large group outing—we could hardly hear the person sitting across from us, let alone down the table. However, this place is pretty cool for small groups: the atmosphere is pretty cool looking, its nice and clean, and if you enjoy beer, their beer selection is really pretty good. I would go back with a much smaller group to try.
Also, while I made reservations on Open Table, and even called to confirm my reservations that day, the restaurant accidently gave away my table, so my group ended up sitting more in the middle of the restaurant, which likely made the noise more noticeable.
Food was all good, but the kale salad was the best. And, you have to have the warm pretzel with yummy mustard.
This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. The building and the restoration was beautiful, the service was personal and attentive and the food enjoyed by all. We only tried two beers, the stout and the double IPA, looking back I wish I had tried the 4 beer sampler.
Anchoring the edge of Reno's formerly sleazy, now hipper and hipper E. 4th St. Brewery, distillery, obviously well-capitalized renovation of historic building. Young energetic attentive staff, great Father's Day brunch with a bottomless mimosa for papa!
Well though out menu with something for all. Simple done well with great service. Only downside was the noise level but that's a personal taste thing.
The food and atmosphere here is great! Very hipster place, and great for groups.
The food and service are outstanding. But, they could improve the acoustics. Very noisy!
The Depot brings a wonderful new addition to the Reno food scene. The beers are fantastic and the selection rotates as they brew and refine new ones. The food is very tasty and the portions are very nicely sized. Manager Leslie is a great guy too. Took my wife there for our anniversary and he made sure to really make the evening special. Love the Depot.
Great innovative food. Very good service. However table for four is too small to comfortably seat four people sharing small plates as a meal. Bentwood chairs were chintzy and uncomfortable ... Restaurant space is very attractive but they could have done better with the choice of tables and chairs to purchase. Also noise level was exceptionally noisy. But good food!
My friends and I went to the Depot for lunch. Since the day was beautiful, we ate outside. The service was great, and the food was outstanding. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. A bar downstairs and one upstairs. After lunch, Brandon, a co-owner, took us on a tour of the brewery/distillery. We all had a great time, and really enjoyed our lunch. We'll be back.
Went there with an open mind. Very cool setup untill you are seated at cramped tables that have horrible spacing. My party of four had a party of 8 next to us and it was like they were hovering over us. Food is delishious but pricing for food and booze is on the high side. The beer needs work and the bread pudding is awful!
The depot people were very friendly, funny, helpful, and quick! The food was amazing, and the atmosphere, well, simply a balanced blend of a historical restoration of a land and modern clean lines. Such a wonderful evening
Celebrated my son's 23rd birthday. Service and atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! The place is absolutely beautiful, great job with the remodel!
I was looking forward to going to check the place out. The bottom line is the food is fair at best. With so many great local places popping up in Reno, this place had better up its game. It was my first shot and the food wasn't horrible, it was just average. I'll give it one more shot at some point and will hopefully up my review. On a side note, the service was quite good and they did an amazing remodel on this old building, so my great hope is that it does make it.
Love this new addition to Reno's microbrew scene. I think they have the best beer.
