The Del-Bar was establish in 1943 as a Roadside Steakhouse by Jim and Alice Wimmer and today is still family owned and operated by Jeff and Jane Wimmer. The "Prairie style" ambiance, renovations and expansions are by James Dresser, an important protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright.

A typical 80s restaurant with crackers and butter to start and no nuance to the food. It's far too expensive for what you get. The "well-done" burger was raw in the middle, my "house special" shrimp was just ... breaded shrimp. The "rice pilaf" was more like thick, sticky risotto, the chocolate torte seemed to have been bought from the frozen section of a grocery store, and the wine list was limited to what you can get at Costco on offer.
Fantastic, classic supper club experience with great service, hospitality and food!
Wonderful dining experience! Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Would definitely go back.
My husband and I came here for a Valentine's dinner Saturday. Right when we stepped in the door the hostess who greeted us, the woman who took us to our table, and the coat check gal were all so friendly and welcoming. They give us a nice little table for two over by the windows. Our server was fantastic. Very professional and quick with good recommendations. I ordered a filet and my husband ordered a New York strip. We also got mushrooms and we chose hash brown potato. Turns out you get a giant hash brown patty which is pan fried to a golden perfection! It's one of the best meals we have ever eaten. He'll definitely be back and recommend this to others! Thank you Del Bar for a lovely evening!
We live about 3 hours from the Dells but we try to get there at least 4 to 6 times a year. One of the highlights is always our dinner at The Del Bar! It is truly our favorite restaurant and never disappoints! This past weekend was no exception...it was our anniversary and The Del Bar was again our choice for this special occasion. Can’t wait to go again soon!!
We reserved online. We stood in front of the reservation desk and gave them our name. One lady looked at one of the other two standing there and said ‘I don’t know these people’ .
Again, I reserved 4 or 5 days in advance online.
Also put in a note that I wanted a Harvey Wallbanger to be served to my wife as soon as we were seated. Our waiter said she was not aware of that request. Dinner was, nothing special, except the cost $$$
My wife and my favorite place for special dinners. This was Valentine's Day. Many of our anniversary dinners are at the Del-Bar. So many of the staff have been there SO long--the service is excellent.
Excellent food. We had reservations and we arrived early had a drink at the bar and was seated at our table at the exact time of our reservations. We were seated at table by the window and before we finished dinner it got cold. Feet were freezing. Waitress was SLOW. I had a ribeye steak that was fantastic. I would recommend Del Bar. Great, great bartenders.
Excellent food and amazing service.
We had a work meeting. Great place for an employee appreciation dinner.
We love the Del Bar.
We have been traveling to the Dells for years.
My mother was employed there in 1943.
Every year a large group of us from our marketing conference goes to the Del Bar. Every year it's fantastic. We had bad weather this year, but everyone still wanted to make an effort to be there and after one uber making 3 trips there - we finally all arrived! Thanks for the great service!!!
Excellent food. Great service. Very little wait time.
Amazing supper club ambiance and food. Our dining experience from beginning to end was fabulous. We will return on our next Dells weekend.
Wow everything was so good! Great atmosphere, many window seats in restaurant usually to cold and drafty for a night in February heaters under every window made it feel so warm n comfortable. Jessi our server was OUTSTANDING!!! All the courses were spot on. congratulations to the staff at the
DelBar for a remarkable night of food and drinks.
A great experience overall , with fantastic service and everything we ordered as amazing and cooked perfectly to our liking. The only complaint we had was the table for two was located near a heavy traffic and server station with people going by all the time. Next time we will have to be in a more secluded and quiet area.
Everything was wonderful. The only thing I would change is have heaters by the windows. It was very cold at our table next to the window.
It’s a favorite of ours, always love time spent at the Del Bar, the food is outstanding!!!
We loved the quiet dining atmosphere. Our steaks were amazing. We received complimentary champagne for our anniversary. We will definitely be going back again.
We never had a bad meal. Food is great and waitstaff very friendly. They make a great old fashioned.
The filet mignon steaks were awesome. Done to perfection. Tiramisu was the best I have ever eaten.
Terrific server but I can’t remember her name. We were passing thru town. Would definitely go back
Our second time here. Just everything was beyond excellent! The boneless ribeye was so good. It was the special. I also had the mashed potatoes, which were also excellent!! We had after dinner drinks, supper club style. Grasshoppers and brandy Alexander’s. They were equally top notch and the whipped cream was real!
Best old fashioned, great food and great service!
In town for the weekend. Looking to get away from Water park hotel scene, Good food. Good service
Enjoyed every minute! From one cocktail at the bar-great bartender!, to our nice table, our fantastic server, excellent food...had lobster and spinach salad! You had my favorite Rose’, And I rarely order dessert, unless there’s Key Lime Pie! Voila! You have that, too! Thank you for a wonderful evening! We’ll definitely be back-SOON!
Fabulous meal! Everything cooked to perfection and service was great! Definitely will come back again soon
By far my favorite restaurant. Never anything but a fine meal.
Best fish fry in Wisconsin Dells
Reputation speaks for itself
Never a bad meal, great service
Began first of many great meals in 1948' NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. Jimmie Wimmer always remembered a name and made you feel so very welcome. He was a true gentleman.
It would be difficult to find a better place to dine.
The food and service was great. My steak was cooked to perfection.
Great food, wonderful history, special place for many special occasions. Yet again another memorable evening.
Had a lovely dinner for a good sized group of 8. Wouldn't change anything.
I have been coming here since I was a little kid and have never had a bad meal! We literally will come to town and get a hotel room just to eat here. Their happy hour is fantastic and a great deal. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Personally, I love the eacargot, onion soup, hashbrowns as a side and either a steak or the tempura shrimp. My wife gets the crab legs every time. Prices are high, but so is the quality!
Great food. Service was top notch. The only problem was where we were sitting. Very cold because every time someone opened the door we felt the cold. The waitress did try to turn the heat up but it only helped a little.
Our favorite restaurant in WI-we drive an hour to savor the Happy Hour menu and then dine at the white tablecloth table-a true Supper Club with fantastic food and service-absolutely love it!!
Great ambiance and even better food! I would definitely recommend making reservations because it was pretty crowded even later in the evening.
High quality, genuine, Wisconsin Supper Club. Great steak options with good wine selection.
Totally awesome..great food and service. Large portions, had Friday night cod special, took left overs home. It was packet perfect and we reheated to another delicious meal. Our waitress was very sweet and pleasant. Looking forward to dining again.
