The Del-Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our waitress was very nice and great with checking in with us at first but towards the end of our visit she got too busy to provide prompt service. My steak was not cooked to what I requested and the food was most definitely not worth the price!!! Way to expensive for the quality of food you get.
Great happy hour but check the bar bill. 1st drink was at 5:45 the 2ed was at 6:10 was charged full price for both. This is a old time Wis super club . As a semi local I have been coming here for close to 40 years and never had a bad meal. Wisc Dell's has many supper clubs/ steak houses and the dell bar is one of only 3 that my "group" attends.
WE WAITED TO BE SEATED BUT HAD DRINKS AT THE BAR. THE FOOD AND OUR SERVER WERE EXCELENT. WE BOTH HAD THE WALLEYE - ONE WITH THE MENU POTATO CHOICE, THE OTHER HAD HASH BROWNS. THE HASH BROWNS WERE THE BEST WE EVER TASTED.
THE BAR WAS VERY BUSY AND IT TOOK A WHILE TO BE SERVED - THE SERVER WAS VERY GOOD ONCE SHE HAD TIME TO SERVE US.
WE SIGNED IN WHEN WE ARRIVED BUT WE DON'T KNOW IF OUR NAME WAS LOST BECAUSE IT TOOK OTHER GUESTS TO GIVE US THEIR TABLE BECAUSE WE WAITED MUCH LONGER THEN THEY WERE WAITING.
The food was ok for two of us. The third ordered a steak well and it was bloody. The hostess told him he had to pay bar tab before going to the table and then seated the two of us. When finished paying tab he could not find us and was told to wander around looking for us as the hostess was not going to seat him to. Meanwhile the two of us were taken to a table with two spots - the hostess told us that she knew we "needed another chair" and walked off. We will not be going back.
Great service and nice touch with the cheese and crackers in the bar before dinner and terrific service from our server in the dining area. Food order taken in a friendly personal manner and served in a timely manner with a personal touch as well. Was a very nice evening from start to end.
It doesn't get any better than this place. Starting with the ambiance putting you back in the good old days of a great supper club. Everyone of the 8 guys in our group thought it was the best filet mignon they had ever had. The price can't be beat since it includes bread, salad, and potato. Steak was cooked to perfection, Friday's are 20% off wine, all with outstanding service. Fantastic!!
As always the Del Bar doesn't disappoint. We were first shown to a table in the atrium area with long tables of families with kids and asked to be re-seated inside the main restaurant and they happily complied.
Service was friendly and very efficient. Our meals were delicious and steaks were cooked perfectly. Great bar also for pre or post dinner cocktails.
Many choices in the Dells but the Del Bar is always my first choice!
I had heard great things but expectations were not met. Sexist policy where a male patron was denied service due to a sleeveless shirt but many female patrons were allowed to stay and dine. Food was bland; didn't know it was possible to make a flavorless filet but both filets arrived completely tasteless. Will not be returning.
Anniversary dinner and the restaurant gave us 2 complimentary glasses of champagne which was very nice. We ordered dinner and it was presented nicely and her sea scallops were the best ever but that's were it ended.
I ordered a $45 ribeye steak Wisconsin style and it showed up without the bacon and blue cheese topping. The waitress fixed that by bringing it out on a separate plate and if that was the only issue I would have given better rating. I ordered my steak middle-well and it was plated medium-rare.
My biggest complaint would be is that I paid $40 for a ribeye steak that I could have gotten at Ponderosa for less than half the cost.
I wish it had been a better experience.
Quality wasn't what is has been in the past. The oysters Rockefeller, rice side and roasted chicken (specifically the veloute sauce) lacked flavor. The pan fried walleye's coating was too heavy and lacked flavor as well. If this was my first visit I would not return but I have eaten here many times and know that the steak and prime rib is good so I will be back.
