The Del-Bar - Wisconsin Dells & Lake Delton
The Del-Bar was establish in 1943 as a Roadside Steakhouse by Jim and Alice Wimmer and today is still family owned and operated by Jeff and Jane Wimmer. The "Prairie style" ambiance, renovations and expansions are by James Dresser, an important protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright.
warm bacon vinaigrette.
sherry, paprika cream sauce
Waitress was not overly nice not helpful. Food was fabulous as always
Our second time there and both experiences were absolutely perfect. Everything single part of the night was spot on. Service, selection, quality all A+. HIGHLY Recommend.
As always, dinner at The Dell Bar was a great experience.
Our favorite Dells supper club. We always make a reservation for dinner there when we’re in town.
Highly recommend! This was our first visit and we will be back for more food and fun :)
Great food and great service! Really liked their ingenious way of wearing face shields.
Love Del Bar...never disappoints.
We had an excellent dinner at Del Bar. We celebrated our anniversary and our waitress went above and beyond to make sure we had a special experience.
This was my second time to the Del-Bar. It is always a great experience. The food and service is excellent. I would recommend this to anyone.
I had only visited The Del-Bar on one previous occasion, but when I planned out a week-long road trip for my partner's birthday, it was the first and only choice for me when he asked for "a nice dinner somewhere" to celebrate. He loved the classic architecture and quiet atmosphere; I appreciated the wonderful service and genuine hospitality. We BOTH adored the tasty and well-prepared food (we both had perfectly-prepared steaks with potato sides). Also of note is a well-curated wine list that will appease any taste and budget; we chose a delightful (yet reasonably priced) Riesling from Wollersheim from just 45 minutes south of the restaurant. A decadent dessert capped off the evening perfectly and again, the waitstaff couldn't have been more lovely. This supper club is classic Wisconsin, yet a nudge above the rest of the family-fare of the Dells. Looking forward to our next trip out!
It was a little crazy! Walking in people were not wearing masks, people sitting inside waiting were not wearing masks. While waiting for the hostess my husband was confronted by another patron who asked rudely "if his mask was really necessary?" 🙄 Um ya!
Dining room was packed to the gills as much as you could with somewhat distanced tables. Waiters masks were thin flimsy clear plastic and didn't cover their mouth and nose...
We live in North Madison and I'd rather go to Rare or stay here in Dane County now knowing and seeing the difference in dining.
Now would I come back if it was in "Normal dining"?....Possibly. The food was good, our waiter was very nice, and the wine list was good and well priced (although young vintages).
Although it was nice to try something different walking through the packed dining room to use the bathroom was anxiety inducing with nasty looks from patrons while I wore my mask. I felt like I was in an alternate universe and not in a good way...
We had a great evening celebrating our anniversary. The staff were very pleasant and all wearing masks. Our food was great and the key lime pie was awesome. Thanks for a great evening.
service was great !! Food was very good! will go again!
Always love it at the Del-bar!! Best food in town
If you can, go for a few happy hour drinks and apps. Our fillet was spot on and we finished it offbl with creme brulee and millionaire coffee. Hands down the best coffee ever
Everything was excellent, couldn’t ask anything better, on our anniversary.
Disappointed in lack of dress code. Everything else was excellent. At this price range I don't expect to see jeans and t-shirts.
Would recommend to everyone excellent We went on a recommendation. The food was great. Supper Club atmosphere so warm and relaxing
The dining experience was amazing we Celebrated a birthday service was outstanding very friendly
Love to go here every time we are in town! Reminds me of an old school supper club and the food and drinks are great.
Del bar did not enforce facemask requirement and too crowded
We’ve dined at the Del-Bar countless times through the years. Always consistently great!
We have dined here many times and we’re not disappointed. Service was great, food hot and delicious. Perfect Friday date night!!
Hands down the best Filet around....
Don’t ever leave Del Bar without having the Peanut Butter Pie....
Thank you for your feedback, we are so happy you had a great time with us!
Tables were spread out nicely, waitstaff was very attentive & wore masks - which was greatly appreciated! Meal was excellent!
Thank you Vicky, we appreciate your feedback. We are very happy you felt comfortable with the measures we have taken.
Our favorite place the food always great and the staff always accommodating and very professional. Great value for the money always make a special event that much more special.
Another incredible meal. Steak and lobster was amazing. They never disappoint. Just as I remember when I dined at the restaurant with my parents long ago. Definitely worth the money.
Thank you Catherine, we love to hear about your past visits. Glad you enjoyed!
Good service, decent ambience, salad and side items were good but the filet mignon was a bit disappointing for the price. I wish there were more options for wine by the glass as well.
Their social distancing set up and masks are ridiculous. There is not an ounce of benefit from the masks they are using. Realize if you are going there, they don't care to protect you or their employees.
Great meal with great ambiance. The selection is incredible and the service is spot on.
Awesome as always outstanding service by our favorite server, Jesi
We always love the food and service at the Del Bar. We were placed in a different area back and to the left this time, which we never were in before and there were 2 tables of families there with kids and it was definitely not as relaxing or intimate because of how loud the kids were at the tables. Next time I will request to be placed on the right side where we have sat in the past with no issues what so ever. The bar service is always top notch!
Fantastic home made Ranch dressing. Very good hash browns and the New York strip steak was cooked to perfection. The wait staff is very friendly and timed the service to the T. The Scallops were excellent and not over cooked which is easy to do. We will definitely be returning for another dinner experience that was 1st rate.
Food was outstanding and the service was great. Will definitely be back and recommend to family and friends
We had a good time - went with family for a short vacation and the ladies there went out of their way to make sure that they gave us all of the attention that we needed! thank you all for the help!
Caught up with some old friends at the Del-Bar. As always, the food and service was top notch. We all ordered filet and every steak was cooked perfectly as ordered. Tables are nicely spaced apart, and all employees were masked. We felt very safe, and left extremely satisfied.
We had scallops and salmon. Both were excellent. We visit whenever we're in Wisconsin Dells.
Wonderful atmosphere and food!
Our server was a younger girl and she was perfectly prompt, timely, and kind. The food was awesome too and reasonably priced. We just loved it!
This is a difficult review. My overall rating is "average." But actually nothing was average. It's a combination of excellent and terrible.
First the excellent -- outstanding food, top-flight in every way. Perfectly made cocktails, wonderful steaks, great salads and veggies! And the wait staff was cordial, and professional. In terms of our experience at our table, it was a wonderful experience.
On the other hand....their website says they are taking COVID-19 seriously. They list initiatives around staff cleanliness; I cannot confirm those behind-the-scene procedures. But in relating to customers, it was not good. All of the staff wore matching "masks." I put this term in quotes because these were clear face coverings, leaning on the chin at the bottom, going half-way up the face, and open at the top -- which, depending on the size of the wearer, was either just at or below the nose. My point is that I don't think those masks provided any protection at all for the staff. And if one of the staff was infectious, they would not have protected the customers either.
We were at a table that had reasonable distance from others. But then each of us went to the rest room to wash our hands. And that meant walking through a bar that was wall-to-wall people within inches of each other. No one was wearing masks. Perhaps it wasn't possible since they were drinking or eating But in that case, the seating arrangements created by management were completely irresponsible. It reminded me of those photos of crazy college parties: a paragon of potential infection! Their website says they have hired a health consultant. I cannot believe the consultant approves of the arrangement in their bar.
So my bottom line: outstanding food presented by very nice staff. But all taking place in a setting that, for the moment, is downright dangerous. Until we have a vaccine -- or until management makes some significant changes to the space -- this is a place to avoid.
