The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant's 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents. Now with The Del-Bar's recent celebration of its 80th year anniversary, it is still family owned and operated by third generation sisters Amy Wimmer and Anne Stoken.

Delicious as always and Megan our server was spectacular. Filet and tempura shrimp special was awesome as well as the pork chop and a chocolate martini for dessert! Awesome

We had another amazing experience at the DelBar. Got there 30 minutes early to have a drink in the bar. Lot's of people but we were able to get a table and enjoy a drink. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and greeted at our table by our waiter who was very attentive. We both enjoyed a complimentary glass of champagne because we were celebrating our anniversary. Both of us ordered a Filet and Shrimp, hash browns and a salad. All exceptional! Everything was perfection, we will be back!

We had a reservation so we were seated immediately. Food was spaced out perfectly between courses. Our order was correct and hot. I was wished Happy Birthday by a few employees and given a dessert to celebrate. I wish there were more chicken entrees offered though. The steak was cooked perfectly. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. There's a bar on-site as well. The attention to details by the staff is refreshing!

1st time here even though this establishment has been here since 1943. First of all they take reservations! There's another steak house that's also been in Wisconsin Dells since around same time but they don't take reservations 2 hours wait to be seated. Del Bar food was absolutely delicious!! My party had ny strip steak, rib eye, and hamburger. Also we had soup and salad. Lastly we had desert it was amazing and not skimpy like most restaurants. Also it was my birthday they surprised me with a free desert it was chocolate mousse and was phenomenal but as delicious as it was it's not on their desert menu. I can't say enough great things about the Del Bar. Lastly it was my birthday but also father's day and they still took reservations. Was also simple to make reservations and they sent a text few days before as a reminder confirmation. Can't wait to come back.

First time at the Del Bar and the service and food exceeded our expectations. The steaks were tremendous, well cooked and so tasty. There were quite a few people in the restaurant, yet it was well orchestrated as regards overall service. It was impressive how all staff members pitched in from taking our orders to setting up and cleaning off the table to asking our party if we needed anything to complete our dining experience. Will definitely be going back.

With the approach of 'Season' in the Wisconsin Dells, the opportunity for an exceptional meal gets more challenging with the expanding number of visitors and tourists. A later-than-usual reservation at Del-Bar offered a master class in fine dining. Service can be exceptional, and every member of the staff tries to do their best. Among the best servers is Jessie who offered pitch-perfect service throughout the night. The meal itself was magnificent -- clam chowder; crisp garden salad and, one of my favorites, the goat cheese salad; pan-fried walleye and blackened halibut. While the Del-Bar is rightly known for exceptional steaks, they continue to outperform on their fish entrees. Anyone who hasn't tried the walleye, halibut or salmon entrees should treat themselves to an exceptional experience. Even their Friday Night cod fish fry is heads above the options offered elsewhere. While we passed on dessert, a freshly prepared Brandy Alexander split for two was the perfect conclusion to a great meal. Well done, Del-Bar
