The Deck At The Bucks County Playhouse
My second time. Love the location and the view and the service is outstanding. Menu feels like work in progress (the restaurant is new), but very promising.
This was our first visit to The Deck and we did enjoy the experience. I will add though that the menu is very limited in options but I am assuming that is by design. Service was excellent. It was great being able to enter the theater right from the dining area.
Hoping they can work the kinks out. It was extremely loud. Loud enough that we may
would not recommend at this time - too new too many bugs yet. Had high hopes but disappointed on initial visit - many other choices in the area.reserved table for 2 - asked for window seating. i know that window can't be guaranteed but we had walk-ins right before us who did get window seat. The manager escorted us to a table and my wife asked about our request for window seating. The manager abruptly responded that it is by request only and my wife shot back that we did request it. Manager said she never looked at the request so we just took the table offered. Tables are extremely tight and close together - about 6 inches between us and table for 4. One of us had the pork which was enjoyable and the other had the beef ragu with pasta which was not good at all and returned uneaten. While management did not take the time to ask what was wrong with the meal, she did make sure to tell us that they were not going to charge for it as if i was getting a free meal.
Service was somewhat rushed and dis organized. They forgot to bring things. Ie. Salad dressing sweetener for drinks. Massive pepper spill in the soup because it was not the proper shaker.
For this type of space the food was overpriced. This is more of a bar food type atmosphere not fine dining. Portions were small. Beef in the Bolognese had large fatty parts. Not good at all.
The black garlic chicken had fatty parts and small bones the “ravioli were not mushroom stuffed. They had goat cheese not mushrooms inside. This gave the dish an odd flavor. The flavors were discordant.
Way too noisy with unnecessary piano player just adding to it, slow service that almost caused us to miss show even though we allowed 2 hours between our reservation and show time, food was mediocre, very limited menu, décor more appropriate for outside dining. We'd go back only on a nice summer afternoon. Too many other choices in the area to put up with this.
A perfect place to eat before a show at the Playhouse. The food is quite good with a good selection. The noise level is a bit high. The view of the river cannot be beat. It will be an amzing place to visit in warmer weather as well. We all enjoyed our meal. The drinks were a little slow coming at first, but overall the service was good.
Three of us had dinner before seeing The Buddy Holly Story on a Friday night. I had mistakenly looked at the lunch menu (when originally looking at a matinee show) and did not realize that the dinner menu was different. We were each able to find something that appealed to us and I had the braised lamb shank which was on special. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinner. Out waiter was courteous, attentive, and friendly. We had preordered valet parking when we purchased the tickets which completely removed the stress of New Hope parking. We were finished dinner in plenty of time for the show, which was terrific.
Waited about 45 minutes til we were served our appetizers; another 30 minutes, or so for main course. The spring rolls were hard. The snapper was rubbery. If we come back it will only be for cocktails. Could not recommend The Deck to my friends/family.
Would go back again. Nice atmosphere. Super service.
Our server justin was great. The food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Cant wait to go back.
Great food! Charcuterie board is a must have app! Our waiter was very personable and efficient. A great dinner before a show at the Bucks County Playhouse.
Great ambiance - some food courses were just ok like Caesar salad and the appetizer (cheesesteak wraps. The main course was awesome - Lobster Tail . The time gaps between food courses could have been longer. I know the place is new - and maybe the ambiance could be richer - but a good first showing for a new place trying to find its niche. Has plenty of potential given its great location. Will try again - soon.
Watched a show at the Bucks County Playhouse and walked directly into the restaurant. Very convenient. Nice views of the river with good food and drink. Our waiter was excellent.
Food and ambiance were very good. Problem with service as there were bout many people there and it took some time for the server to acknowledge our presence and ask for our drink order. When he finally had the drink he stood with it on a tray for a few minutes while he conversed with the table next to us.
I think it would be great for a drink but we were not impressed with the food. Coleslaw was way too hot and spicy, homemade chips are too burned to enjoy. Actual lunches were really just so-so. Beautiful view of the river and very convenient for a show.
Beautiful view of the Delaware. Limited menu but what's there is very good. Nice bar. If you are going to the playhouse it is connected to this restaurant. A nice night out.
Loved the view and convenience of having lunch and entering directly into theater after!
The deck was a pleasant surprise. Staff was friendly and food was very good. Best of all you can walk from the restaurant through a door right into the Playhouse .
Great space, beautiful view of the river. Nice menu. Excellent addition to New Hope!
The food was expensive and not good. It was also very loud.
Good food. Good drinks, although a glass of wine was a small, measured portion which was not a good value. Perfect place to enjoy a nice dinner before a performance.
First time we went all was good. Second time very different. Dinner food with limited menu. Low energy feel but good river view. Hope they improve by summer
We were very impressed by the style, decor and service. Food was very yummy, the menu was a little small but we didn't have trouble finding something each of us would like. The view speaks for itself an we can't wait to return in the warmer weather.
I am sure this is because it is so new, however they offered a strip steak as one of the nights specials. It was only 6:35 PM and the strips steak was sold out. Another issues that I had were the bathrooms. The bathrooms are very nice, however they are situated right where people are seated eating dinner. This could make for a very unpleasant meal. I feel they should have been placed in a back corner. I did however love the piano player, very nice. Overall, I am hoping that in time, things will run a lot smoother and hopefully the bathroom's won't be too big of an issue. Perhpaps sometime in the summer we will consider trying it again.
We came to hear Bob Egan and were disappointed in the noise level. My friend had a salad in a deep bowl that when she cut pieces, the bowl tipped. My meal was good. We had to ask for bread. It was not offered. I know you will get better. I will like to be there in the summer.
First time we dined at The Deck.
We enjoyed sitting by window to see the river. The food was tasty. Moderate portions plated. Waiter was attentive.
We had dinner after seeing play at Bucks County Playhouse: “Love Letters” starring Meridith Baxter & Michael Gross - who were absolutely terrific. Great story portrayed by both talented actors!
They were so gracious in signing my playbill after dinner - which made my entire day !
The burger was delicious, but the roll was too small for the large burger. The onion soup was very good. No side dishes like Fries or Onion rings which I like with a burger. The view was very nice overlooking the river. We sat near a door so every time someone opened the door it was very cold. I would go again. I think in the summer when they open the roof it will be fabulous. All in all it was enjoyable.
This tremendous space isn’t meeting its potential. Again the service was not where it needs to be. The Pasta was warm at best, the burger was not prepared as ordered. Too many other options in town not to be on top of their game. I hope they get it together and realize their potential.
We grabbed lunch at The Deck before the show at the Playhouse. The staff is friendly and helpful. Fun vibe. The beer selection is good and the dirty martini excellent!
The food is fantastic! I suffer from IBS (mostly a gluten intolerance) and eating out can be a challenge often resulting in a flare up. I didn’t ask for anything to be prepared differently - just ordered the pulled pork without the roll. Ate everything that came with the dish and had no issues whatsoever. YEA! So I know the food is prepared exactly as they say it is - fresh, farm to table. My husband had the hot apple pie for dessert. I had a tiny bite - it was wonderful, nice flaky crust - cant deny its homemade. The river views from our table were icing on the cake. Can’t wait to go back!!
I was not happy with the food quality or service. I did like the location since we attended a play and entrance to the Playhouse was directly from the restaurant. The seating and the view from the restaurant was nice.
I probably would not reserve this restaurant again.
I wanted to love this place but....Very noisy space because there’s nothing to absorb the sound bouncing off concrete, wood and glass, which is why I’ll not be back for dinner, though the food was delicious and prepared well. Smallish portions but they do now serve focaccia before the meal. However, this spot is best for a drink at the bar before or after dining somewhere else and/or seeing a show at the Playhouse. The view and setting are fabulous.
First time visitor to the restaurant, not the theatre, so we were anxious to try it before the show. It was very convenient since we didn't need to return outside again until after the performance. The atmosphere was inviting with the river alongside half frozen & the inside set up very comfortable. I had a cocktail, margarita with a twist, which was superb, and my friend had a glass of wine, excellent. The red pepper soup was exactly what I needed on a cold frigid night, warm & tasty. My friend had a salad wedge with bacon bits, dressing, etc.& enjoyed it very much. We both had the garlic chicken over mushroom ravioli, which was very pleasing to the palate. Everything seems great but the service was not top notch like the food. We waited too long to get menus, then the hostess saw we didn't have drinks yet so she brought them. We ordered but it took a while for our food to come out then we were rushed. We had to ask twice for a fork. Asked twice for black pepper & additional cheese. Told them we were going to the show so we had to ask for the check while we were eating dinner. Didn't have time for dessert or coffee, which would have been nice. Luckily we only had to walk a few feet to our seats! We might try lunch but not impressed with dinner service.
River view amazing convience to playhouse excellent. Food was very good. Server needed to pay more attention to customer service. We would come again
What a great addition to New Hope and to the Bucks County Playhouse! Beautiful new restaurant with fabulous view of the Delaware River. Service attentive and gracious without being obsequious. The menu feels like it's still under development, but that's OK. For instance, the Reuben spring rolls on the menu had been changed to Philly Cheese Steak spring rolls. Either sound cute, right? We got the Philly Cheese Steak spring rolls -- they were OK, not great. But the tacos? Muy bueno! I appreciate creative apps and the menu offers plenty of them. Squash soup was delish, and the wedge salad was a fun, retro way to get in the daily greens. Restaurant and theatre staff work together to make sure diners make it to their seats in plenty of time before curtain, making a great dinner and a show experience, but I would come back here even if I wasn't seeing a show. Since I was seeing a show, and I like to give plays my full attention, I did not order a drink, but the bar looks fun and well-stocked. I'll be back!
Awesome views, servers were great, had a nice bite after a matinee theatre engagement. Well worth the stop. Will stop again soon.
Please take these comments as constructive. My daughter and I had lunch before a play. We ordered the burger of the day. As explained, burgers are hand formed each time--not pre-made patties. While that sounds like a good idea, they were rather thick, and if you like your burger medium-well as I do, in order to get the inside done, the outside was just short of burned. Maybe medium-well and well burger orders could be flattened a bit more so this doesn't happen. Taste was really good. Our waiter was outstanding. He was able to answer questions we had about the menu; he was attentive, but not annoyingly so. And, of course, the view was spectacular. We had a table by the window and could gaze out at the river. It was a very cold, windy day but we did not feel the cold by the windows. When it was time for the show, they open a door that connects to the theater. Someone is posted at the door to scan your tickets. We look forward to our next visit.
Service and food was excellent. Staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. We were seated by a window overlooking the river and it was beautiful.
Overall excellent service and the food is good. The wait for the service, though, was long and it took 25 minutes from the time we sat to get our drink. Way too long but I understand they are new and working out the kinks.
They seem to have a workflow issue. The bar is at one end of the restaurant and the kitchen at the other, which makes for many treks by the wait staff.
The bartenders are also a bit ‘green,’ it seems. They struggle with quickness when it’s busy and don’t recognize who came up first.
With a concrete floor you can bet it will always be a bit loud. I hope when the lazy days of summer arrive that opening the garage doors to the patio will help to abate the noise, some.
I’ll go back again hoping for a shorter wait time between seating and seeing the waiter/waitress.
Ate prior to going to playhouse. Homemade Reuben rolls were great. Fish special great. Nice evening w dinner and a show
