Impeccable ambience, beautiful setting and seating arrangements. Even though it was busy, we still felt that we had our privacy to talk amongst ourselves. The waiter seemed to be a new hire - but we could tell he was well trained. Wonderful service - professional and polite. The food was beyond words delicious. We ate half our meal and took the rest home for dinner for the next evening. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. I've never had a prime rib steak be so tender, it had the texture of butter.
Overall, a delicious food experience. Highly recommended. And we will be return clients.
Thank you to all who made our night so special.
Also a lovely experience eating at David Duncan House. The staff are exceptional, the food so very delicious. The lobster pasta was a big hit. Lovely food choices and presentation. Cant wait to go back.
Great food, service was a little slow. The bill was extremely expensive. But otherwise it was great.
Excellent food and service. A bit pricey though...
This is a hidden gem in Toronto. Would love to come more often with friends and clients
Food is good, our server was fabulous. It's rather pricey.
I had to use my phone to see the menu, the tables are very dark.
Expensive but worth it. Beautiful old world décor.
The ambience and service was amazing. The seafood pasta was a little sloppy. There was a significant amount of fat in my steak.
Great experience with warm service and delicious food, love the ambience
Went for a special occasion birthday. Service was excellent, food was well prepared and interesting. Steak was cooked exactly as requested.
It was a complete experience! My parents loved it and that’s what mattered to me.
Great night out! Wonderful service and food was delish!
The restaurant has decorated very nice and the foods are so delicious.
Very elegant and the staff were really great
Hot appetizers (scallops and calamari) were extremely delicious. My wife's prime rib was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and the loaded baked potato was hot and tasty. My pan seared halibut was a little dry (suspect it was overcooked) but generally ok. Service was courteous, friendly - no complaints about that. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and it was a pleasant surprise to receive a chocolate cake slice with a candle! Delicious and decadent! Although we were quite full from our meal I was able to finish lol. Would recommend to friends, especially for celebrating special occasions.
Great personable service and beautiful ambiance. A bit disheartened that what I wanted wasn’t on the menu or completely out by the time I ordered, but hoping to visit again so I can change that!
I had the New York Strip Steak at my dinner. This was far and beyond the best steak I have ever eaten in my life. I would highly recommend coming here for special occasions.
It was a special night for me and my love. She ordered lamb chop which turned out to be part of a rack of lamb. She ordered medium rare but came out well done. The kitchen tried again, but failed again with small think rack of lamb with a lot of fat. Told server who said he will speak with manager. Manager never showed up. When the bill came, they charged us the lamb which was barely touched. The head waiter said, "you ate it". We asked him to bring the plate back so we can discussed. He went and came back to say that they had trashed it already. Then took the lamb off the bill.
This is a high class restaurant and most all service was bad -
1) we were greeted by hostess which showed no smile, courtesy, welcome atmosphere.
2) The waiter service quality was not up to this level of restaurant. He did check on us and when he mentioned he talked with his manager, his manager never even bother to come to see how we are doing. Also the head waiter who brought the bill was mean and argued that we had eaten the lamb. Overall wait services is below average even for lower class restaurant.
3) the chefs were seen at the entrance to be joking around and not professional
4) the seafood display of king crab were so small that it did not portray a high class quality restaurant.
5) when we leave, the same hostess was again with no smile and made the atmosphere not up to a professional high class establishment.
I see that this is probably a management issue with so many areas of low quality. I would not go back to this restaurant unless there is a marked change in quality.
We were very disappointed that the ambiance of the beautiful David Duncan house had changed starting with the blaring loud music as soon as we arrived in the parking lot. This was not a good start to our evening. We were celebrating a birthday, of which they were aware of, no cake with candle was presented at our table. Several other tables around us had this “treat”.
We went for our 1st wedding anniversary and we got a private area. Great service, food was amazing and we had an amazing time!!
My wife and I are small eaters. the servings were massive! One would have been enough for both of us, with some leftover
Excellent food and service. Staff was very professional and helpful when it came to answering questions about the menu and suggesting wine that paired well with the meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will dine there again.
We had our 5th anniversary dinner for 2 recently at Duncan House. John and Vashar(?) were both very attentive and professional Our Ceasar Salad is fantastic! One of the best we've ever had.-- One of the only few places that you can have Table Side Service. Our Ribeye steaks were cooked to perfection. Love the pickled sweet mini peppers... The Banana Foster was very good as well, a great conclusion to our anniversary dinner.
Awesome romantic dinner with superb table-side service
It was amazing I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and the place was so beautiful the music fit the vibe, we were seated in a corner which was very private and perfect. The service there was also fantastic we got our food very quickly and there’s always people there helping. The lighting was a bit dark but it was cute. The food changed since I went there last but still really good.
Amazing service, ambiance and food! Highly recommend
After not going out to a restaurant since the pandemic, my husband and I enjoyed a very lovely 10th anniversary dinner.
From the hostess that greeted us at the door to the wait staff, the full experience went well beyond our expectations.
The food was exceptional...everything was pleasing to the tastebuds, not one complaint.
Portion size was perfect. Not overwhelming in size (no leftovers) and we left not feeling overly full and uncomfortable afterwards.
They also surprised us with a slice of chocolate ganache cake to share for our anniversary.

Value for money
We will definitely be back.
Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary, we were not disappointed! Thank you so much for making a special day for us.
We celebrated my birthday last night at DDH. After the Covid19 formalities, we were seated immediately and perused the menu/wine list. A smooth Prosecco accompanied our appetizers, which consisted of Kale salad and fabulous seared scallops in a wonderful cream sauce. Accompanied by a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, we enjoyed Salmon and Halibut dinners. Before I could order the Cherry Jubilee for dessert, a large slice of toothsome chocolate layered cake appeared with a candle on it. An elegant finish to a wonderful return to DDH. Last but not least, the service was absolutely perfection! Thank you to everyone for making my day so special.
Our server was very professional and friendly. He definitely made our experience that much more enjoyable. We came to celebrate my husbands birthday and our wedding anniversary. The food was absolutely delicious. The seafood tower was so fresh. My husband described the table side ceasar salad as impeccable. The filet mignon was seared perfectly and even on all sides. The meat literally melted in my mouth. We will definitely come back again for another special occasion.
Great white table dining. We always celebrate our anniversary there, and it is still great food, service and ambiance, even during Covid. With the limited capacity, it was much quieter too.
Overall amazing place and experience
Appetizers and mock tails were fantastic
Main course was good
Desserts were simply outstanding and epic
Overall a great place to host dinner for special occasions
Great staff great food and most of all classic decor
The old school menu is boring. They need to shake it up!
Amazing service and delicious food. Thank you we had a great time.
My daughter had the NY steak, I had the lobster tail and my youngest had Alfredo pasta. All very delicious tho the little one did not finish her pasta. The house bread is delicious. The lobster and steak, both amazing. Dessert was NY style cheesecake, superb and crème brûlée, again, delicious. Hope to try something else next time but since I was so happy with lobster tail, it will be difficult to try something else.
We were celebrating so many positive events and wanted to go somewhere special and unique. The David Duncan House delivered. From the moment we arrived, our table was ready. It was a nice quiet table for two. We started out with the scallop appetizer and it was delicious, melt in your mouth amazing. My boyfriend had the prime rib with Yorkshire pudding and I had the Alaskan King Crab, both absolutely delicious. We finished off with Cherries Jubilee AND an engagement! The staff were in the know so they were able to capture the moment for us and we lingered with champagne to close out the night. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Would highly recommend the David Duncan house for special occasions but also for just stopping in and having drinks and appetizers at the bar. Outstanding experience
Food was pretty cold, considering how much we paid. Great staff though. Nice interior.
