Every thing was amazing and I will back soon there. But I really want to change my seat because we had bad situation about people there and they harassment me and my mother and We don’t feel comfortable. Please next time book seat for us other area. This area is small and too close together. Thank you for understanding
My wife and I had dinner at DDH on January 2 which is our anniversary date and we have celebrated this way for many years. As usual, the food was fantastic, the service was very, very good without being over the top or missing. Menu prices are what you would expect for dining with this quality food, preparation and presentation. The staff were knowledgeable, polite and upbeat despite a terrible two years in the restaurant business. We love the building and the interior with it's old world character. Someone cranked up the music too high this year so the noise level was a bit irritating at times. We tend to like an ambience that is relatively quiet, has the obvious background conversation level of activity from diners with music that should be subtle and contribute to the fine dining experience. Regardless, we will continue to celebrate our anniversary at DDH and would recommend the dining experience to anyone.
The reservation was smooth and communication through txt and email was beyond expectation. I used this reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary and service was exceptional, we were very pleased with it.
Everything was perfect and tasteful.
We were well spaced between diners.
A perfect place for a special occasion.
Wonderful experience!! We always love celebrating a special occasion here! Thank you to the wonderful staff!
On the expensive side, but we’ll worth it for the ambiance. Beautiful, quiet and private. Food and service was excellent.
From when we arrived, we were greeted with smiles. The ambiance is outstanding. The service, no words to describe, but AMAZING. We never had to ask for anything. The waiters were always friendly and attentive. The food- we were VERY SATISFIED, and the taste AMAZING. Compliments to the FANTASTIC chefs.
Delicious birthday dinner with my sister, her husband and my niece. Good portion sizes; the table-side Caesar salad for two was a fair portion for all three of us, and it was truly so very delicious. The filet was good, and my sister enjoyed her king crab legs. My brother-in-law was happy with his ribeye. Service was also excellent. Will 100% return even if only for the table-side Caesar salad because it was so good :)
Easy to get to, with lots of parking, and a pleasant welcome when we arrived. The food / service / ambiance were fine - but certainly not good enough to justify the prices charged. I am happy to pay a lot for an exceptional dining experience, but this wasn't one of those.
Excellent food, service and ambiance!
I have visited there for celebrating my husband’s birthday. It was Awesome! I highly recommend the Caesar salad, you should try!
Good staff, good food and plenty of parking.
Great spot. will go again. Need more choices of Beer. Good wine list.
We had an amazing time. Our waiter was the best and made our time memorable.
Was put at the worst table in the restaurant in a corner next to the emergency exit and almost no lighting (a pot light was out in the area of the table)
When I told the individuals who seated us they just shrugged and didn't care at all. there were many open tables so being full wasn't an issue.
I have been to DDH before and had great experiences but this definitely left a bitter taste.
Impeccable ambience, beautiful setting and seating arrangements. Even though it was busy, we still felt that we had our privacy to talk amongst ourselves. The waiter seemed to be a new hire - but we could tell he was well trained. Wonderful service - professional and polite. The food was beyond words delicious. We ate half our meal and took the rest home for dinner for the next evening. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. I've never had a prime rib steak be so tender, it had the texture of butter.
Overall, a delicious food experience. Highly recommended. And we will be return clients.
Thank you to all who made our night so special.
Also a lovely experience eating at David Duncan House. The staff are exceptional, the food so very delicious. The lobster pasta was a big hit. Lovely food choices and presentation. Cant wait to go back.
Great food, service was a little slow. The bill was extremely expensive. But otherwise it was great.
Excellent food and service. A bit pricey though...
This is a hidden gem in Toronto. Would love to come more often with friends and clients
Food is good, our server was fabulous. It's rather pricey.
I had to use my phone to see the menu, the tables are very dark.
Expensive but worth it. Beautiful old world décor.
The ambience and service was amazing. The seafood pasta was a little sloppy. There was a significant amount of fat in my steak.
Great experience with warm service and delicious food, love the ambience
Went for a special occasion birthday. Service was excellent, food was well prepared and interesting. Steak was cooked exactly as requested.
It was a complete experience! My parents loved it and that’s what mattered to me.
Great night out! Wonderful service and food was delish!
The restaurant has decorated very nice and the foods are so delicious.
Very elegant and the staff were really great
Hot appetizers (scallops and calamari) were extremely delicious. My wife's prime rib was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and the loaded baked potato was hot and tasty. My pan seared halibut was a little dry (suspect it was overcooked) but generally ok. Service was courteous, friendly - no complaints about that. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and it was a pleasant surprise to receive a chocolate cake slice with a candle! Delicious and decadent! Although we were quite full from our meal I was able to finish lol. Would recommend to friends, especially for celebrating special occasions.
Great personable service and beautiful ambiance. A bit disheartened that what I wanted wasn’t on the menu or completely out by the time I ordered, but hoping to visit again so I can change that!
I had the New York Strip Steak at my dinner. This was far and beyond the best steak I have ever eaten in my life. I would highly recommend coming here for special occasions.
It was a special night for me and my love. She ordered lamb chop which turned out to be part of a rack of lamb. She ordered medium rare but came out well done. The kitchen tried again, but failed again with small think rack of lamb with a lot of fat. Told server who said he will speak with manager. Manager never showed up. When the bill came, they charged us the lamb which was barely touched. The head waiter said, "you ate it". We asked him to bring the plate back so we can discussed. He went and came back to say that they had trashed it already. Then took the lamb off the bill.
This is a high class restaurant and most all service was bad -
1) we were greeted by hostess which showed no smile, courtesy, welcome atmosphere.
2) The waiter service quality was not up to this level of restaurant. He did check on us and when he mentioned he talked with his manager, his manager never even bother to come to see how we are doing. Also the head waiter who brought the bill was mean and argued that we had eaten the lamb. Overall wait services is below average even for lower class restaurant.
3) the chefs were seen at the entrance to be joking around and not professional
4) the seafood display of king crab were so small that it did not portray a high class quality restaurant.
5) when we leave, the same hostess was again with no smile and made the atmosphere not up to a professional high class establishment.
I see that this is probably a management issue with so many areas of low quality. I would not go back to this restaurant unless there is a marked change in quality.
We were very disappointed that the ambiance of the beautiful David Duncan house had changed starting with the blaring loud music as soon as we arrived in the parking lot. This was not a good start to our evening. We were celebrating a birthday, of which they were aware of, no cake with candle was presented at our table. Several other tables around us had this “treat”.
We went for our 1st wedding anniversary and we got a private area. Great service, food was amazing and we had an amazing time!!
My wife and I are small eaters. the servings were massive! One would have been enough for both of us, with some leftover
Excellent food and service. Staff was very professional and helpful when it came to answering questions about the menu and suggesting wine that paired well with the meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will dine there again.
