The Davenport Lounge
Excellent. Nothing better than afternoon tea at The Davenport!
The ONLY thing that could have make the experience perfect was music. On the website, I understood it to say there would be a harpist, but she showed up only for the 2:00 seating, as we were leaving. If there was to be no live music for ambience, they should have piped in some type of relaxing music. We normally go to the Windsor Ct for Tea, but everyone liked The Ritz better so we will be back!
The waterfall was a nice touch :)! - seriously, the staff handled the roof leak with utmost professionalism.
The food & tea were wonderful - taste & presentation.
The service (Garret) was great & I am sure his trainee will do just fine.
Thank you for a marvelous time!
Penny was very nice and attentive. I only wish less of the desserts involved hazelnuts as 3 of my 5 were changed. I was really looking forward to the chocolate ones from the menu. The raspberry jam and scones were very good. I quite liked the decontructed sandwich idea as well. I can't pick a favorite because I enjoyed all of them.
Very elegant and relaxing. Beautiful space, well appointed. Great service. I've had better tea sandwiches and scones at other hotels but this was certainly good fare.
This was the worst Ritz experience I've ever had. We went for afternoon tea. All the courses tasted horribly, especially the deserts. They tasted like they had been in the fridge for 3 days and then taken out and served. Only the 2 tiny scones tasted somewhat decent and not 3 days old. I also told our waiter to notify the chef of my food allergy and they brought out sorbet for a desert.
The champagne was generic and they didn't even fill the teapot with extra hot water.
The decor was mediocre and the management needs further training in other Ritz establishments to learn how things should be run.
Truly hate leaving this review but it had to be said
Really enjoyed the afternoon tea! Both the savory and the sweet were beautifully presented and delicious! The lounge is so nice and really liked our table with the armchairs.
We went to tea for my daughter’s 8th birthday at the Ritz. It was an overall lovely experience. She had a great time.
The service was phenomenal. They went above and beyond to ensure she had a great time and to help my handicapped mother who joined us. Special shout out to Kelly!!
The food ranged. The savory food was great as were the scones. Sadly the desserts were least tasty.
Ambience was very nice except that it was SO COLD that it made us want to leave sooner than we otherwise would have.
I think I would go back for a special occasion but I hope the dessert improves.
I came for the tea service. The server, Garrett, was beyond hospitable and accommodating (I also made special requests as a surprise to my partner!). The food was excellent as well.
For such a highly recommended place the experience was sub-par at best. Our server was fantastic and she alone made the redeemed the experience. The tea was great but the food was disappointing, for $40 a person we got 5-6 little microscopic hors d'oeuvres, not a true tea service. Dry chicken salad and tasteless savory course. The deserts tasted like they had been siting in the chiller for a long time. The scones and beignets were the only things that were tasty.
We made reservations for Afternoon Tea while in New Orleans and enjoyed every minute of it. The teas, the food and the presentation were all lovely. It was a very special treat and we would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys such experiences.
I took my friend for Afternoon Tea as a Christmas gift and it was a big hit! Will return with other friends.
Had my Son take his grandmothers to tea as their Christmas present from him. They had a fabulous time!
Wonderful service, and careful attention to my dining companion's vegetarian diet, which I noted when i made the reservation on OpenTable. Sever and kitchen were aware and ready. Server was wonderful, just a delightful experience.
Sue Crabtree was AMAZING. Our original server was not too attentive but Sue the manager stepped right in and took care of us. She was great! I don’t have enough words as to what an asset she is to the team there. She even put the first course aside for a member of our party who was late. She was very thoughtful.
Nice for afternoon tea
The afternoon tea was great!
The selection of teas was great as well as the food. I would definitely visit again
Had a wonderful afternoon tea here with my wife. Wonderful presentation.
Rather than do Sunday Brunch on a recent trip to New Orleans, we opted for Sunday Tea and chose the Davenport at the Ritz-Carlton because of its reputation and from previous experiences in other cities. We were not disappointed. The arrangement and presentation was lovely, the food delicious, and the tea assortment was not overwhelming yet comprehensive. The first course “sandwiches” were more like canapés, a different approach from the usual fare - tasty and lovely. They wisely stuck with traditional scones with lemon curd, Devonshire cream, and jam, which is classic and, in my opinion, the highlight of a tea. By dessert we could hardly eat another morsel but sampled the tempting treats with our last cup of tea. Our server, Raj, provided exceptional service and suggestions. His tip to add ginger syrup to my chai tea was a game changer, completely altering the flavors of the tea.
When you tire of the Frech Quater fare, enjoy an afternoon repose in the quiet elegence of the Davenport. Tea is offered 7 days a week so don’t wait for a Sunday.
Had a wonderful time at a bridal tea for my daughter. The service was top notch and the food was lovely and very tasty.
Great experience. I would definitely recommend. The tea is so unique.
I made a reservation for tea at the Davenport Lounge to celebrate the birth of our daughter next month. The service was fantastic and we enjoyed every second of our experience!
Everything was delicious! Scones were cold though and the harpist was extremely loud for the atmosphere.
I was there for tea with friends. Everything was great. Service was the best. We had a wonderful afternoon and will definitely return. Thanks !!!!
Afternoon Tea was a delight! Liz took care of us and she was perfect! It was a wonderful way to enjoy the afternoon. The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans is a favorite!!
It was amazing and a wonderful treat when coming to NOLA. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a little class and a little afternoon treat.
Our server wasn’t friendly or attentive but the food and atmosphere were good
The tea was kept hot and fresh. Each guest was provided a three course tea service with very well prepared food bites, scones and small desert pastries. The presentation was beautiful and attentive service.
This place is wonderful.
I had a great time at the 11AM Saturday tea last weekend. A long-time friend and I had a great time catching up. The environment was perfect for this get together. Our server was perfect; she provided a great balance of attentiveness, while still allowing us to enjoy our time together. The harpist provided beautiful music as well. I would definitely recommend this spot for your next outing with friends for tea.
Mom’s birthday! Everything was great. The Ritz really knows how to do High Tea!
Great! Will definitely be back for tea next year!
The tea was absolutely fabulous and the Christmas decorations were beautiful.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy afternoon tea, the Ritz Carlton is perfect! The menu was divine and the service was incredible.
High Tea was fabulous ! Alexandra was a wonderful host !
The tea service was ok. Based upon the price we thought the offerings would be a lot better.
Went to the Davenport Lounge for the afternoon tea with my grown daughter. I have had tea many times at various Ritz-Carltons before and each was authentic and fabulous. Having lived in London for several years I know my tea and what a High Tea should entail. First off, let me just say that our server was absolutely fabulous and the pastry chef even came out to talk with us. But the tea experience no so fabulous. The tea was served in a coffee presses rather than steeped in a china teapot, the scones were very small and dry, the clotted cream was not Devonshire, the lemon curd was lacking a full lemon tart flavor and no tea sandwiches... just very small tidbits on crackers. BUT the sweet aspect of the tea was amazing! The small cakes and chocolates were spot on even though a bit on the micro side on size. Each came out at different times and not all at once like a typical tea tower presentation. Now the atmosphere . . .this was severely wanting. People walking through in flip flops and shorts on their why to the pool, other restaurants, or just looking around. No soft music playing or piano. . .just noise from the lobby and other restaurants. This tea was not a cheap experience. . .2 people is a $100. That said, next time I want to have high tea in New Orleans again I will be heading back to Windsor Court for their afternoon tea experience. Their tea experience is always spot on everytime.
We had a late afternoon flight and wanted to do something special on our last day in New Orleans. We booked the 11:00 tea service and were completely surprised to be the only ones in the lounge. The service was fantastic, the food was very good and overall this was just a great way to unwind from the craziness of Bourbon Street and get ready to head home.
My friend and I enjoyed our experience. We were only one of two stations having high tea. I would imagine the weekend would be a little busier.
We thought the sandwichs, scones and deserts were very tasty.
Went for tea. The food and service were excellent. It was a Monday and we were the only one's there for tea. Very private. Great atmosphere.
Lovely afternoon tea service. The harp music was a beautiful touch. Food was good and service was excellent.
