The service was impeccable and the attention to detail is amazing. The drink menu was customized with our name, and they offered a complimentary sparkling wine as a palate cleanser, and an amuse bouche from the chef. Everything was wonderful!

We had a fabulous time at the Dark Room at ST Kates, the atmosphere is very unique. Service was excellent!!! Food was very, very good. Would highly recommend for those special occasions, as it can get pricey, but for a special night, go there you wont regret it.
Really nice right across from Marcus.

Very cool concept. Small, dark and quiet. Very different from the other restaurant and bar right outside the door. The seafood and steak items on the menu were both strong as were the starters and the cocktails. Very good destination for those who like quiet, intimate spots with attentive service. We will be back.

Excellent and fairly unique place to eat. The atmosphere and the food were excellent. I would have liked the service to have been more prompt but we had a great time at The Dark Room and look forward to coming again.

Very nice idea/theme. We were pleasantly surprised by the discreet location as we had to ask where the restaurant was. I wont give that away!

Food was not their selling point, although my steak was extremely good. One of our appetizers was shrimp scampi. They were so salty we almost couldn't eat it, but we prevailed. My wife ordered the scallops and those were very salty as well. She did not mention it at the time, because she never wants to upset anyone. I ordered the lobster tail side. Is lobster suppose be hard, dark and black along the edges? How ANYONE allowed that to leave the kitchen is why I cannot recommend the Dark Room at this time.

The ambiance is excellent! The food was good but over priced for the quality. At a typical resturant I would have rated the sevice as good but expected more for what I was paying.

Small interesting venue, good but rather simple menu. The food was very good, we liked the wait staff though at times they got bogged down with other tables. Cocktail menu does not list prices which are VERY high.

Really wonderful experience at TDR. Service was excellent, ambiance was wonderful, food was delicious. Drinks are a bit pricey in my opinion. I would recommend trying this place at least once

The Dark Room is superb relative to ambience: dark but candlelit, very romantic. The food was quite delicious. We were very happy and will be back.

The Dark Room is an experience that Milwaukee doesn't offer anywhere else in the city. The attention to detail and the little touches you don't initially notice but appreciate as the evening moves forward. It starts with the secret entrance into the dining room. Once you pass through the secret entrance, you are meet with an ambience and feel that we loved. It is a combination of romance and mystery mixed with the perfect setting if you wanted to have a real business meeting and not just be seen as the volume level was very welcome to have a wonderful conversation with my wife. The little things include such nuances as real wax burning candles in the center of the room with wax dripping down the sides of the beautiful holders bringing a unique feeling and charm. The silverware was clearly picked purposely and given the more dimly lit atmosphere the light up menus provided a unique flair and were extremely easy to read. Having your name printed on the menu is another nice touch and can act as a memento if you are celebrating a special occasion. The bread presentation and the attentiveness of the staff was paramount which was a delight as TDR has only been open for a few weeks. We tried the TDR martini, the Negroni and the Cruzat and all were well made and excellent. We split the sweet corn ravioli as an appetizer and it was perfectly sized for two and was absolutely delicious. I had the CDK Farms Grass Fed Angus and it was amazing! It was cooked to perfection and not over-flavored as can sometimes happen. My wife had crab legs and loved them. We shared and loved the banana cream pie.

The entire evening was special. It is so nice to have a smaller, quieter room that facilitates talking without having to raise your voice. The ambience creates an other world charm that sets you at ease and puts you in the right frame of mind for food and conversation which is the entire purpose of an outstanding dining evening! We cannot wait to dine again!

TDR is a very nice addition to the options in Milwaukee for a higher end dinner with attentive service. It has the potential to be a Top 5 restaurant destination in Milwaukee, but needs to polish the experience just a little more. The space is very unique and quiet while just a staircase above the fantastic social bustling that we have come to enjoy in the lobby, bar and gallery of the Saint Kate Hotel. The issues are relatively minor that prevented a 5-Star Rating. First, it was too warm and felt a little humid, just enough where I felt a bit over-heated after working through a large steak. My wife and I really thought the design of the room was well thought out, but still believe truly dining out should be on white table cloths, not melamine tables. Finally, the steak was delicious, but I found they slightly crossed the line from the requested rare to medium rare. Rare needs to be rare. I admit I could never get rare right on my own, so this is a major reason why I like going out. In the end, we really appreciate the Marcus Corp for their risk taking in bringing the concept of the Saint Kate Hotel and two fine restaurants, Aria and TDR, to Milwaukee.
