I loved the live music, I kept forgetting to eat the food I ordered because I was so focused on the stage. I got to sit right in front of the stage so I was in the middle of it all. The food was fantastic and even something I’ve had other places, like artichoke and chicken dip, was delicious. I bought it to share but I kept it as my own. Our waitress was super nice and always checked in with us, without distracting from the group performing. It was the most fun I’ve had in awhile, and I will definitely come back!

Went their for Sunday brunch before Nutcracker Ballet at Fox Theater.
Food and drinks were good. Biscuits were excellent.
First set of silverware was dirty with dried food debris from poor washing.
The live music was laid back jazz and good quality, but far, far too loud. It made conversation very difficult.

Great place to go celebrate a birthday! The only problem is that they started charging $10 if you bring your own cake.

Our appetizer, and salads were delicious. We had the chicken artichoke dip with the ceasar salad. We had the flat iron steak and my wife and I were both woefully unimpressed. The steak was cooked fine, but the sauce atop of the dish was not tasty. The mashed potatoes were too thin and covered in a nauseating amount of butter (and I love butter). Unfortunately there was no live music being played, and no recorded music either. The restaurant has potential, it just isn't living up to that potential.

Dinner before Saturday night Symphony. Steak and mushroom flat bread was great and beef and rice bowl was great. We missed Friday night happy hour with the jazz trio, which is an incredible deal, great food and great music. We love great before Symphony, Fox and Sheldon productions.

The Dark Room has a ways to go to become a go to restaurant which is a real shame given the shortage of restaurants at Grand Center. Food is uneven and service leaves much to be desired. Were it not so convenient, being in the Grandel lobby, it wouldn't have the business it does. Too bad. Grand Center will never be able to live up to its potential until it has enough quality restaurants.

We went with another couple to dine before a Powell Hall event. At six-thirty, they were already out of four dishes on the menu. The waiter was well meaning but the kitchen was in chaos apparently. Our food took 45 minutes. One of us only received soup, and one of us received nothing before we had to leave. We weren't charged for anything, which was appropriate given our expectations. I would be very hesitant to return here. It seems the restaurant is in business to serve the theater/event crowd, but they fell far short.

Have been there two times in the past month or so and was impressed with the menu and the service before a show at Powell. However this past Tuesday was not a great experience. We were told the chef had been in a car accident and several items on the menu were not available due to ordering issues while he/she was out. The server did not come to our table for quite a while and we had to flag her down several times when we needed something. We have decided that the 3rd time was the last time, and we will go somewhere else next time we go to Powell.

I really wanted to like this place as we are always looking for somewhere convenient to eat near the Fox Theatre. Unfortunately, all of our food was lukewarm. I had the Italian wedding soup and the chicken-artichoke dip. My dining companion had the fish special. His fish was moderately hot but everything else was lukewarm. I don’t believe it had been sitting, waiting for the server. The soup and dip seemed not to have been heated thoroughly in the kitchen. I probably won’t go back.

My wife and I went here prior to a St. Louis Symphony Orchestra concert at Powel Hall. The food was great, the dessert was amazing and the drinks were spectacular. Unfortunately we didn't get to experience any live music when we went but we can't wait to go back and we can't wait to share it with friends.

My husband and I wanted a relaxing date night with great food and drinks. The live music was an added plus. We had great service and the food was delicious. I ordered the Blackened Red Snapper and my husband ordered the Steak and Mushroom Flatbread. We will certainly return and have already recommended this cozy location to our friends.

The live music is a little loud, so don't plan much conversation.

Very convenient for pre-theater. Food was varied and very tasty. Service was efficient; servers and host were friendly and helpful. We didn't have long to linger but I suspect it would be a great place to stay and enjoy drinks after dinner.

Jazz is loud but quality. Seating is two -table for the most part, which means one party is not facing music. Special for the evening was unavailable. Food was very late in arriving. My pasta was homemade but came out almost cold, with breaded shrimp and cheese freshly broiled. Service person did not leave pen to sign credit card.

I have eaten at The Dark Room on several occasions. On this Sunday evening, I was quite disappointed in the availability of menu items. There were four of us and three had planned to order entrees that were on the menu but no longer available. The food we did order was very good. Service was not up to par. Our waitperson would have been wise to write down our orders. My cocktail, ordered straight up, was served on the rocks. I sent it back to have the ice removed. I ordered my salad with dressing on the side. The salad came dressed. I just ate the salad without comment. I am unlikely to plan to eat supper there on Sunday in the future.

The food and service were great. It just seemed odd that, with a reservation, and being almost the first one's there, we were seated on the handicap path and had to keep moving out of the way for folks to exit the building. Would have been better for us to be seated on the other side of the room.
thanks.

We enjoyed our first meal at The Dark Room very much. The service was excellent, the wine list was large and the waiter helpful with the selection, and the menu had an array of enticing options. Everything tasted wonderfully; we tried the flatiron steak (perfectly done), the shrimp and grits, and two of us had the chicken Florentine. The only possible complaint is that the chicken Florentine was a bit dry. It was enjoyable, nonetheless.

The Dark Room is conveniently located near The Fox and Powell. I was able to get in and out with dinner in an hour before a lecture. The food is creative, tasty, and affordable. There was music from 7-10 on a Tuesday night. Street parking was cheap and easy. I will go back again.

The food was outstanding and some of the best I've had in St. Louis in a while. This is a very neat place with a great ambiance, notable drinks, and fantastic food. The service could have been much better. There were no more than five people in the restaurant the entire time, we waited to have drinks refilled and the bartender was on his phone or joking with employees most of the time. Aside from the service, I would highly reccomend this restaurant.

The music was great but too loud for the size of the room. Seating was not good having to sit with my back to the band. I could only see one band member playing their instrument and looking at the back of the piano all evening was not enjoyable. Service was good but food was just ok.
