The Danny Boy Bar & Grill at Gamble Sands
Menu is weak in wines by the glass and lower calorie options. Could use fresher, lighter fish options. Lunch was excellent but for dinner the menu is mostly fried foods and steaks. With more upscale clients coming in chef needs to keep up with more up-to-date food
I ordered the Asian chicken salad with teriyaki sauce I believe. I can't even tell you if there was any dressing on it b/c it was so bland. Our servers at dinner and at breakfast were wonderful I just feel that Gamble Sands needs to step up their food . Very disappointing but from reading reviews of the restaurant I got what I had expected.
You really have no choice but to eat there but go into it with the knowledge that's its mediocre.
I ordered the fish and chips. It was rather mushy. My husband ordered steak with mashEd potatoes. The potatoes were very dry. For 39$ they should have been better. We chose to sit outside when we made our reservations due to COVID concerns. The sun was extremely warm. It would have been nice if there was some sun shade provided allowing for an outdoor dining experience. The location overlooking the course was wonderful and the service amazing. Thank you.
We were only half way thru our appetizer when the waitress brought out our main course. The potatoes and vegetables looked like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for 20-30 minutes. Both were very dry. The steak was fortunately cooked right but by the time I got to it, it was mostly cold.
Overpriced, not much selection on the menu. Staff was friendly.
Since it’s really the only place to eat near by - if golfing and staying at hotel - we found it expensive . We made reservations one month ahead and they wanted us to sit inside - we asked to move and they did. The view was beautiful outside and waitress very nice. Our bill was over $100 for four people and only I drink was ordered . The chicken Salad already had dressing and it was to wet. Loved the golf and hotel ... thank u. The people were all nice especially the Marshall at first tee - who ran and got us water when line was to long - and housekeeping in hotel was great. We will be back. Thank u
Danny Boy's surprised us with the quality and preparation of the food. Fish and crab in our entrees were fresh and the food was absolutely delicious. I often say that the key to good cooking is having hungry guests, so maybe a great round of golf set us up to enjoy it even more, but truly the food was super!! We are in the first months of Covid re-opening so we did not expect much in the way of ambience; we were just grateful for pleasant, prompt service, and a memorably good meal. The outdoor seating was very comfortable and the view is unbeatable.
The service was absolutely terrible. We waited 90-minutes before our food was served. Restaurant wouldn’t even waive the $20 corkage fee because of the slow service. Also, just before we were served our food, the waiter said that they had run out of vegetables and offered something else. You’d be better off eating authentic Mexican food in Brewster.
We totally enjoyed our time @ Danny Boys. The service was exceptional & food was great. We ended up eating there 3 times & never had a disappointment. I’d recommend it to anyone.
During the pandemic, you expect things to be different. However the service was very good and the servers were friendly. We ordered the meat loaf and was pleasantly surprised at the flavor and the size of the portion. Would definitely order again.
The food was unpalatable. We were covered in flies! The service was deathly slow. We left our food and ate crackers in the hotel room.
The view and setting was spectacular.
reservations were not honored - service was slow - my food was good but others said fish and chicken were dry
We sat outside and it was wonderful. The food was great and Shirley our server was even better. She said it was her fourth day on the job, I would have never guessed it. She knew the menu inside and out. She made recommendations like she had been there for years. Great way to end our day.
Highly recommend Danny Boy's! Everything is always fabulous. We love going here for lunch and dinner. Wonderful views, everyone is friendly. food is delicious.
Would have appreciated some sort of bread with our salad.
Great food and outstanding service!! We will go back for sure!!
This is a great place to have dinner with a beautiful view of the Columbia river. The food is really good and the service was friendly.
Prime rib Friday was fabulous as well as the fish and chips. Well worth every penny and we will be back again!
The food was Fabulous and the waiter was Very Accommodating!
We had a very nice experience with Danny Boy. They were very friendly. Food was fantastic! Portion was huge. You didn’t go hungry. Suggest on alittle more options on there menu. Since living in a rural area there isn’t much place like Danny Boy.
Disappointed with the steaks. Char was too heavy, and quite a bit of fat and gristle. For the price - we were disappointed.
Great place to chill after a game of golf at Gamble Sands
very good clubhouse food. beef dip, california sandwich with turkey added and the meatloaf sandwich along with a couple cold drinks fueled us up for the afternoon golf game.
Casual, good food, cocktails, accommodating service
The special of the evening was the Wagyu steak. I've had a few quality steaks in the past but this tops them all. Service was good. Ambience superb.
Small menu but many good selections
Quality very good considering the remote location. Exceeded our expectations. Beautiful setting and view
Absolutely fabulous service from all the staff at Danny's! Great ambiance, great food and have absolutely the most breathtaking sunsets! We'll be back!
Being the only food option at Gamble Sands golf course, Danny Boys hits an ace with all their food options. While on a recently Stay and Play package I managed to eat here four times in a little over 24 hours: the breakfast wrap is seriously loaded with everything needed to keep you filled while playing 18; lunch provides a large number of burgers and sandwiches—the patty melt is filling but delicious; dinner offers new options from lunch like steaks and pasta—the meatloaf was huge! I was happy with their selections and never left hungry.
-a pretty mediocre experience. We ate 7 meals there. The servers were good and curteous, but the food quality was mostly substandard for a restaurant of that location and price range. The New York steaks were not good quality cuts and not prepared according to our request. One of the hamburgers was way overcooked and so was the salmon on the ceaser salad. Couldn't eat it. the meat loaf was very good. The caeser salad was pretty wilted. For both dinners, we were interested in ordering the special steak offering, but were informed that none were available. For whatever reason , the Filet Mingon that we so enjoyed in previous years was no longer being offered.
This was the 4th year in a row that our group has chosen Gamble Sands as a golf destination and we've noticed a steady deterioration at the restaurant. We're considering another venue for next year that offers better quality for that price range.
Awesome food, service & view! We will be back, with friends!
Everything was very good! The view is amazing. We sat outside and it was very peaceful!
Little loud, but food and staff great. On the spendy side, but still great.
It’s a golf club bar and grill with a simple menu but the food is delicious and the wait staff just very pleasant and helpful.,
We had the Mothers Day buffet and some of the food was cold which was disappointing given the cost.
