Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.’s Shaw neighborhood, The Dabney has been honoring the farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the Mid-Atlantic since 2015. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary in 2025, our team remains deeply committed to showcasing the best of the region through thoughtful, seasonal cooking prepared over our signature wood-burning hearth.

Guests are welcome to join us in the dining room for our 5-course prix fixe menu, or enjoy an à la carte experience with a reservation in the dining room, at the bar, or on the patio.

The Dabney has been awarded one Michelin star every year since 2017. Chef Jeremiah Langhorne received the James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic award in 2018, and The Dabney was named Washingtonian’s #1 restaurant in 2023.

The seasonal menu reflects the soul of our beloved mid-Atlantic: with every ingredient representing the history of the region we call home. We are not able to modify menus specifically for severe allium, capsaicin, and dairy allergies that include butter, as well as vegan diets. A 20% service charge is included in the final bill to ensure our entire staff earns a competitive wage. Gratuity is welcomed but not expected. Any cancellations made under 24 hours of the scheduled reservation time will be subject to the full cost of the 5-course experience.

    Celebrate July 4th with a party by our hearth at The Dabney. Our team invites you to enjoy the best the Mid-Atlantic has to offer in a reception style, BBQ party of an afternoon. Our Chef Team will showcase Summer's bounty from our celebrated local farmers at places like Autumn Olive and Fireside Farms, as well as fresh-shucked oysters on our garden patio. The price of a ticket also includes a welcome beverage, unlimited frozen cocktails, 2 glasses of wine or beer, and a vintage bourbon tasting with Bar Director, Dan Todd. Tickets are $175/pp for 2 hour time slots.

    Fantastic anniversary dinner date. Loved the Mid-Atlantic farm to table concept with the open hearth. You could absolutely feel the heat from our table so I can't imagine how the chefs aren't roasting. I had never tried sugar toads or lamb hearts before but oh man every dish was delicious. They have my full confidence with anything they want to put on a plate. I can't wait to come again and see how the menu changes.

    This is my second trip to The Dabney and it was as excellent as my first trip. The tasting menu has gone from 8 to 5 courses but there is no lack of fantastic food here. Terrific combinations of seafood and unexpected flavors along with the smoky tastes from the open wood fire are a special experience. The space is so warm and cozy, it redefines what a Michelin Star dining experience should be. The meats are spectacular as well. So many great dishes. Highly recommend the Grilled Sloop Point Oysters, The Tuna Pork Rinds, Scallop crudo, Fried Sugar Toads (it ain’t what you think and it’s better than you can imagine), the Chesapeake Rockfish, Fried Porgy (a real highlight) and the Lamb were all perfectly done and presented beautifully. The staff is attentive and friendly but never rushed. The cocktails are outstanding as well. The Old Fashioned is one of the best I’ve had. Prices are not for the faint of heart but you get top notch value for the money. I’ll be back here next trip down to DC. I wish this place was in NYC.

    Absolutely fantastic tasting menu! We adored the food. Sadly, the bottle of wine we ordered upon recommendation from the restaurant sommelier was a disappointment. However, overall a lovely evening.

    The ambience, service and creativity were spectacular. We ended up not able to eat everything having consumed small plates over a period of time, but we're old and don't eat a lot anyway. It was difficult to find with an Uber.

    A great experience. The team has tremendous generosity of spirit as well as culinary and service skill. An early enquiry of mine to take a photo of the wonderful kitchen area and hearth was met with great enthusiasm, with Jeremiah himself taking a very approachable and friendly lead. The food was terrific (although I’m not a great fan of lamb and it seems to be a recurrent menu theme, for those who don’t enjoy jt); and the vibe very pleasant. I’d return very happily. Well done.
