The Cypress Inn
The only thing that was good was the fried green tomatoes. My wine glass was dirty (lipstick) all around the rim. Not mine! My steak was over cooked and my potato was under cooked. The view was beautiful but the food was not good.
Our server, Amanda, was excellent. Tomato Bisque, pork chop, Country Club Squash, & bread were memorable. The location is beautiful. This is our fourth visit and will return. The Cypress Inn is our must-visit Restaurant when we are in Tuscaloosa.
Was in Tuscaloosa for a teacher workshop. CI was so good we shared the info with other teachers at the workshop!
Beautiful setting overlooking the river but the AC was out and it was very warm in the dining room. Not fun to sweat like crazy while trying to enjoy a leisurely meal. My fried oysters were top notch but the kids ordered their burgers mes rare and they were cooked well done. Table bread sampler was heavenly. Those yeast rolls! 😋
Service was slow. We had a party of 12 with one waitress. Orders with mixed up. we had to ask for napkins more than four times before receive it. The Scenery was very nice, relaxed and cozy. Food was good the ones that received it warm.
Lunch with an incoming freshman and her mom. Food was great, and the view offered a wonderful introduction to Tuscaloosa and UA. Southern hospitality and delicious regional delicacies complete the welcome offered to the town's newest residents.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service, I loved it, and will definitely be visiting again
Very relaxed atmosphere with attentive service and delicious food.
Had a group of 9. We enjoyed the Cypress Inn. Our server, Jessica, was awesome. Joked right along with us and was very attentive. Will definitely be back and will recommend to friends and family!!
Our visit to the Cypress Inn Friday night was underwhelming. My husband ordered the Cypress Inn Smoked Chicken with green beans and mustard greens. I ordered the Pan Seared Diver Scallops with coleslaw, broccoli and a house salad with ranch dressing. My husband’s dish was delicious, except for the green beans - which were bland. My dish, however was not. For a $30 dish, I received 6 scallops that were horribly overdone (needed a knife and fork to cut apart), and underdone and unseasoned broccoli. The coleslaw tasted homemade and was very good and the house salad was good. Upon the completion of our meal, our server noticed my lack of eating and decline of a takeout box and asked if my dinner was satisfactory. I politely told him that I didn’t find it tasty. He looked at my scallops and seemed to be appalled at them. When he returned to our table with the check, he apologized profusely and indicated that the scallops had been removed from our bill, leaving my husband’s dinner and my house salad.
It was our first experience at the Cypress Inn and I won’t say that we will never be back, but we aren’t in any hurry to return.
The customer service was horrible. My date and I ordered approximately 20 minutes before a group of people. The other group got their drinks before us. We started with a make waiter and he never checked on us. A female waitress then came and asked us what we wanted to drink? We gave her our beverage choice for a second time. After we received our beverages, she didn't come back to ask if we wanted a refill. We spoke with management and got our tab. It's was just horrible.
Amazing as always!!!! The food is outstanding!!! The water view is amazing.
Cypress Inn is usually very good. Obviously from time to time service can vary, but food is consistently good and nice atmosphere!
Nice view , excellent service, good wine selection and food cooked to perfection.
Great service and the salmon salad was delicious. Highly recommend.
Submitted a special request for our anniversary that didn’t materialize. Was brought the incorrect wine at dinner. Appetizer, salad, and entree all arrived at the table within 10 minutes as if we were being hurried out of the restaurant. The waitress claimed they had a “prime rib” special which I ordered. In reality it was a ribeye. Very disappointing to see where the restaurant has fallen given that my wife, her family, and I frequented it over the past 10 years.
We had a great dinner celebrating our Alabama graduate. The view here on the river is spectacular. The service was on point, informative, friendly and very quick. The filet was cooked perfectly, we added buttermilk fried oysters which were lightly battered and fried, the grits are amazing and the fried green tomatoes were good as well. The seafood pasta had plenty of seafood in it and the sauce was delish. Even the ranch dressing made in house was awesome. I highly recommend the Cypress Inn for a nice meal.
Enjoyed our graduation dinner. Seated right at reservation time. Beautiful setting on the river. Reasonable prices and food was good. Our server was very sweet and overall we would love to go back.
We were celebrating a University of Alabama graduation! Everyone except the Graduate was from out of town, and we had not visited the Cypress Inn in many years. The food, drinks and service were just as we fondly remembered, and we were so happy that they were able to accommodate our group, which extended to a party of 10 at the last minute. The staff was very quick to adjust our seating arrangements with assurances that it was no inconvenience to them. Our server, Natalie, was the absolute best! Her prompt and friendly attention made us feel as though we were her only customers. We just can’t thank her enough for making the evening so memorable. We also were visited by a member of Management, which also made us feel so welcomed and appreciated. Our thanks to everyone at Cypress Inn. Donald and Karen Short
Graduation dinner was amazing !!
Graduation dinner celebration. Food was good but service was on the slow side. Restaurant was not full so might have been a staffing issue for that particular night.
Everything was great - the view, the service, and the food! Will definitely eat there again.
We had a great time. The food was really good and the service was off the charts amazing. We will be back in the fall.
Great food and friendly service! Enjoyed sitting in the back room overlooking the water. Busy night and had to wait a bit for food but server was attentive, brought delicious bread and refilled beverages. No complaints whatsoever.
Everything from the food to the service was great & the price was reasonable.
We loved the food and our waiter was excellent. He told us about the area, the river and the school. Our food was exactly what we were looking for while visiting Alabama. Excellent experience.
I took a friend for her Birthday. The food was great! Our waiter was Wil, and he did a great job.
Everything was great. Server was fantastic, and the view from our seats was incredible. The food wasn’t quite as good as I was hoping (I got the filet). It didn’t quite compare to some of the other ones I’ve gotten at fine dining restaurant. Cool experience overall. Would recommend to anyone.
Beautiful setting on the river. Food was just ok. I would recommend for the beautiful setting.
Our residents had a great time and we will definitely be back soon!!!

Amazing location, great service - very good food.
Food was not as good as it used to be...the fish tank at the entrance was dirty and merky... so bothersome that we almost left. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa but it seems as though something has happened. Something was definitely off... food not as good (had the Shrimp Cypress Inn), ambiance was off, service was good, but the restaurant was just very different. Overall a sad day because this was mine and my mom's favorite restaurant.
Dirty, poor service, terrible food, it rained and the ceiling leaked over our table. I would never dine there again.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner at The Cypress Inn! We had a spectacular view of the river and this, by far, was the highlight of our dinner. The food was decent - not gourmet or high end, and now bad - just squarely in the middle. The décor inside is pretty tired and dated, and it could use a refresh. The service was good and, as I mentioned, the view of the river made it worth our while.
Went for our grandsons graduation from Ala Fire College. We were a group of 10 and our server was outstanding. The food was served hot and was good. It was very clean and a good atmosphere for a family.
A great restaurant with the most amazing views. The food was good, service was great and it was a relaxing Sunday night with family and friends.
Me and a few of my family members were celebrating mother’s birthday. We had a great time. The waiter was helpful and friendly. The food was awesome!! The waiter that sang my mother happy birthday was the icing on the cake!!! I will be returning again; next time with more family!!!
This was our first time dining here and we were seated quickly with a view of the water. The service was prompt and accurate. Everything we ordered was delicious! Their fish dishes are spectacular. We will be back!
The room was frigid and so was our welcome. ie no service AT ALL, not even a glass of water for way too long.
As always, my family and I enjoyed the experience. However, our appetizer, the fried green tomatoes, were under cooked, but we ate them. The rest of our dinner was very good.
